  • Gorgeous House, Perfect Stay

"My family and I stayed in the Villa in 2008, and we vowed to return. So, when friends asked if we would accompany them to Italy, we excitedly said "yes and do we have a great place to stay." As we were only 6, we rented Casa Baiocco for 2 weeks. It was just as we remembered. The grounds, full of shrubs, flowers and fragrant rosemary, are meticulously manicured. The pool and surrounding patio are very clean, comfortable, and very private. There is also a covered sitting area with a table and chairs which we used every day for breakfast and afternoon wine and whatever cheeses, meats, olives we purchased that day.The interior of the house was as well cared for as the exterior. It was spacious and very clean and . The bedrooms were large and with wardrobes big enough to hang all our clothes. The bathrooms also were large and clean. The kitchen is a galley kitchen, and also well equipped with everything needed to cook a meal though there are many great restaurants in Citta della Pieve. Jacopo was a gracious, attentive host. It was great to see him again. He arranged for transportation from the train station in Chiusi to the villa (20 min ride) and met us at the door with his interpreter, Angela. He gave us a tour of the house, explained how the gate and outside lights worked. A new offering since our last stay was Jacopo's own wine and olive oil. Both were very reasonable priced and very good especially one rainy afternoon when we didn't want to go out. We didn't expect to see him soon, but the coffee maker didn't work the next morning (Sunday), he came with a new one that afternoon. That's the kind of service he provides. Speaking of service, he also arranged a winery, cheese farm, olive oil farm tour for us which was spectacular. The tour was with a local company who provided a van and a driver who took us to the places off the usual tourist-path. A highlight of our trip. Citta della Pieve is a long walk (15-20 mins) but doable. It is a beautiful hilltop town that between 2008 to 2016 added many cafes, trattorias and restaurants. The people are friendly and gracious. We spoke only a little Italian, but language was never a problem. It was worth walking around the town to look at the beautiful wood doors and flower boxes. This trip was a 25th wedding anniversary trip for all 6 of us, it couldn't have been more perfect. Jacopo was accommodating, responsive but never intrusive. The house is gorgeous, well-kept and comfortable. The town is picaresque."

"Fantastische plek, door hoge ligging niet te warm. Leuk terrasje met uitzicht op kerk en cafe. Je kan rustig zitten lezen en om je heen kijken, altijd wat te doen. Klein dorpje met winkeltjes en restaurant op loopafstand waar je je deel van het dorp voelt. Zuid-toscane zeer mooie rustige omgeving."

  • fully recommended, nice old charming stonehouse nearby Sienna

"We stayed 2 weeks end of August. Check in and out was quick, no surprises and on trust. The house is in a very small and quiet village that you reach through a small unpaved road It is a charming and confortable old stone house that stay cool even with more than 30°C outside Garden and pool are very good playground for all Few trees offer nice and cool place for afternoon nap in the shade If you like trekking you have plenty of forest walks all around with fantastic view and beautiful historic houses"
