  • Enjoy the Abundance of Umbria

"Apartment Rocciaviva sits on the sunny side of an olive-tree clad mountain providing postcard views to Campello Alto and beyond to the historic hilltop towns of Spoleto and Montefalco. Out of view but nearby discover Trevi, Foligno, Assisi, Bevagna, Scheggino. Be sure to seek out festivals celebrating onions, truffles, olive oil, wine, sausage, black celery. Everywhere here you are immersed in the abundance of southern Umbria. Vivid Etruscan and Roman history. More olive groves, fields of grain, vineyards, farms nurturing fresh local produce, artisanal pasta makers and excellent restaurants. Drink it all up with a glass of Sagrentino, the region's well-respected red wine, or Grechetto their crisp white named after the vines' Greek origins. Rocciaviva's rustic meets modern charm has been designed by Martin, owner-architect, and appointed by Karen, owner-artist. Comfortable and spacious overall, our favourite feature is its large, well-supplied kitchen with walk out to the patio, the lower lounging area and the views. Rocciaviva is a wonderful place to relax or retreat to following a day of touring. After all this, only the most cynical traveller would be vexed by the twisty but ample one-lane roadway that leads you under a canopy of greenery, along stone walls and past silver-leafed olive trees to your idyllic getaway. On route you may encounter a shepherd on the move with his flock. One final ascent and everything mentioned is all yours... for a week, or two, or more. Our long-stay visit was just this side of pure magic — you will travel well and feel welcomed here."
