Relax and unwind

4 of 5
My husband and I just returned home from a month long stay in the Blue Hawaii suite at Casa Pacifica Bed + Breakfast in Chacala, Mexico. A truly wonderful place to relax and unwind from the rat race. Accommodation was clean and decorated with Mexican colour and flair. Daily breakfasts were delicious and filling, with 8 breakfast selections to choose from, including Bertha's delicious home made bread, jams, salsa, and beans. The breakfast area on the second floor is open air under a canopy, where the sea breeze was warm and inviting, with a view of the ocean in the distance. Long term staff make Casa Pacifica feel like you are at home. The patio and gardens are awash with colour with beautiful tropical plants and blooming bushes. Included free wifi was nice to have. Flowers abound. Our hostess (and owner) Susana was friendly, and truly wanting to make our stay a memorable one. I would definitely stay here again, but next time I would rent a car. The daily walk to the beach was certainly doable, but mostly all uphill coming back at the end of the day. A car would have made this much easier. All in all a lovely place to stay!! I highly recommend it.

Perfect couples retreat

5 of 5
Susana and her staff (Juan Pedro, Chabela, etc.) put on the most lovely B&B retreat imaginable. Casa Pacifica is the northernmost residence in Chacala and overlooks the jungle, ocean, at Chacallila Bay. Quiet and outstanding breakfasts at the rooftop restaurant, along with spacious and well appointed suites. As it is at the Northern end of the community bring your walking shoes as it is pleasant 10 minute walk to the beach and beachside restaurants. As Chacala is out-of-the-way, prices for meals etc. are very very reasonable. Sunsets at a beach restaurant can't be beat. It is almost a 2 hr ride from the airport in PVR, lovely scenery along the way and you can either take a cab (don't pay more than about 1,600 pesos for the trip before tip) or you can take the air conditioned Pacifico bus from the PVR bus terminal (take a cab from airport to the terminal) to Las Varas and then 150 peso cab ride into Chacala. A little longer due to stops along the way, at less than half the price of a cab but a very nice "slice of mexican life" taking the bus. Muy Bien!!
