  • A perfect home base on Santa Cruz!

"My husband and I, along with another couple, stayed four nights at the Torre Mar in late May of 2016. Donna and John were terrific from the first contact through finding us the best way back to the Baltra airport. They even arranged for our driver to stop at some of the attractions in the highlands on our way into Puerto Ayora! We found everything to be as advertised. We loved the rooftop terrace for grilling and dining on fresh local seafood or getting to socialize with some of the other guests in the evenings. The views were fantastic! We loved the central, neighborhood location. It was a short walk to Charles Darwin Avenue, a bakery, the Saturday market, the popular outdoor "restaurant street", and the head of the trail to Tortuga Bay! The truck-taxis are certainly abundant, but we enjoyed walking. The beds were very comfortable, and having separate remote controlled air conditioning for each bedroom was a definite plus. For two families with children, both second floor apartments would be a nice setup. We would definitely go back!"

  • Great Stay

"We would recommend this great home. Even though Vicky was not in Quito throughout our stay, she checked in and had others make sure our needs were met. The house has great views of the Valley de Los Chillos and an amazing yard filled with gardens and a large grass field, wonderful (and warm) pool, large patio with hammock and a covered gazebo with a ping pong table. The kids loved the pool and ping pong table and the yard for playing soccer and spent lots of time on the patio in the hammock. The house has everything you need with a full kitchen, 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and two big entertaining areas (living room and sunroom). Cristina arrived every other day to help with the trash, bedding and general clean up and she was great. Two dogs on the property are friendly and the kids (initially apprehensive as we don't have dogs at home) grew to love them after a few days. The commute into Quito is an easy taxi ride ($15-$20) or a city bus ($0.50) after walking 6 blocks down a steep hill to a main intersection. We went into Quito frequently and it would take roughly 35-45 minutes by bus and then we would grab a taxi to get to the historic district or other destinations. Definitely not ideal if you want to be right in Quito but if you don't mind the commute and are looking for a compound to relax and avoid the urban hustle, this is a great option. Overall this was an ideal spot for us with young kids (Ages 4, 6 and 9)."

  • A fantastic experience staying in a Andean Villa with breathtaking veiws.

"The 4 Volcanoes Villa was wonderful!!! We stayed (6 of us) for 10 days and never tired of the wonderful, ever changing views of the volcanoes from every vantage point in this open, spacious and Fung Shui home. The best part was the huge indoor fireplaces with a plentiful supply of the best smelling firewood, that we had burning nightly in the month of June. The climate is cool and what a treat to be able to enjoy this as well as the Jacuzzi, filled up and ready to relax in, at your request. The glass floor to ceiling windows and doors can be opened up completely, to give the feel of being totally outdoors. We enjoyed soft comfortable beds, a well equipped kitchen, ample reading material and a huge dining table for the meals we prepared or had cooked for us by the hired cook. The walk into the village is easy and very safe, the bus to Otavalo comes directly in front of the gated entrance for 35 cents. The buses are modern, clean and safe to ride. The Villa is exactly as described in the listing, and is immaculately maintained. A cleaning woman is available if you want or need, during your stay. There is no television (not needed) or music system, so if you want music, bring something portable . We did not get to meet Thomas Ring, who was away at the time of our stay, we were greeted and assisted with all of our needs by Christina, his wife, who was always there on site in their separate home, and 100% helpful. (Things to be aware of that certainly were not negatives but just part of the way of life in Ecuador, be patient with your needs for a HOT shower, this may be inconsistent due to the plumbing (gas and solar power), and toilets do not accept flushing paper.) We stayed during the Inti Raymi Festival of the Sun, and I can still hear the wonderful musical sounds of the panpipes coming from the surrounding Andes mountains villages throughout the evening and into the night, into the villa with the windows open, and see the locals dancing through the narrow streets, and only wish I was still there. This is a truely wonderful home and location."
