Vacation rentals near Southwest Virginia Cultural Center & Marketplace

Honestly, we only accessed the house at night. Beds were comfy and host was really good to accommodate our specific needs. We were part of a men's team and our accommodations at a local hotel were canceled so repair contractors coming into the are had a place to stay. We come up twice a year to minister to the inmates at the local penitentiary. Debbie I will probably call you in the spring to book again. Thanks. We enjoyed Mamaw's place much better than the local hotel.

Stayed here for a week. No issues.

We arrived Thursday night to a wonderful place that was exactly what was described. The room was so welcoming, and detailed with the traveler in mind. The next morning we awoke to a rising creek and hurricane Helene’s wrath. We lost power, trees were falling around us and the water continued to rise. We were amazed and moved that the host came to the property to see how we were doing. By noon it was apparent that the town of Damascus and the home we were in was in serious danger of being washed away. We heard that people were trapped by the water and that it was time to go. We evacuated as first responders rushed into the area to help. We made it out just in time but others were not so lucky. Several days ago I heard back from our host, whose family was safe but her local shop was completely destroyed!! This is such a beautiful place and we hope to return in the future. Prayers for all those still picking up the pieces after this horrific storm.

Wonderful

This is our first time using Vrbo, and we really enjoyed our stay in this bungalow. It’s tiny (just like the listing says) but was very clean and very well kept with all the basic supplies and more. There’s even a fire pit there with wood supplied. We could not have asked for a better host. He was responsive when we needed him, and he was also willing to take the time to show our kids what he was doing when they approached him while working on a project (He and his wife live further up the hill on the property.). We’ll be back if we are staying in this area again.

Beautiful property! Wanted to get away and get off the grid and this was it. Close enough to all hikes we wanted to do and Bristol, VA. The riverfront and farm setting made it perfect for decompressing. The house itself was clean and so hospitable. If you forget an item, it is more than likely there.
