  • Comfortable and spacious house

"This house was perfect for our group of ladies to use for a weekend retreat. There were plenty of areas with ample seating. The kitchen was stocked with basic cooking tools. The outdoor areas were enjoyable. The owners were quick and clear communicators."

  • Perfect Weekend Getaway

"We stayed a couple of weekends ago for an early Christmas.. There were a total of 14 of us, ranging in ages from 2 to 61. The house was perfect for our stay. The location is a little out of the way, but that is something we liked. We didn't get to enjoy swimming due to the time of year but we did get to enjoy the fire pit. Matt had wood available and had even left us a goody basket that included items to make S'mores. The grandchildren loved it! The location is kind of hard to find. Some GPS will actually take you to the home. AT&T Navigator will not so don't even try. The home is only a couple of miles from Arley. I made several trips to town, including picking up burgers from the Arley Coffee Shop and the Dollar General. For a real grocery store you will have to drive about 9 miles south. Everything is available there. When you enter the home (up several steps) there is a full laundry on the left, a nice bench and hall table. This is a great place for coats and shoes. Walking into the house you will pass the main floor bedroom on your right which has a queen sized bed and a main floor full bathroom on the left. Straight ahead you enter the dining area with a table that has room for about five. There is a small living area on the right with seating for about six, a fire place, and flat screen TV. While the living room space is small we managed to fit everyone in that area so it really can hold a lot of people. I was afraid it might be too small but it was not due to the open living space. The kitchen opens to the dining and living area and I really liked it. It has everything you can need, including a coffee pot, microwave, dishwasher, full stove, refrigerator, crock pot, and more. I love the way the areas are decorated, as well. The porch is great with two tables to eat at as well as plenty of chairs and great views of the lake. The downstairs has a great master with a king sized bed and large master bath. The bedroom has a flat screen and great lake views. The other large room has two bunk beds (double on bottom, single on top), a day bed, a couch and a recliner. There is also a large flat screen and a full refrigerator. The kids loved it! Upstairs you will find two bedrooms with double beds and a full bathroom. One bedroom overlooks the lake. The home was clean, Matt was great, and we loved the location. We really hope to go back next year when it is warm. Please check with Matt if you have someone with mobility issues before booking"

  • close to 5 stars

"When the futon mattress on the couch and seat cushions (worn and stained) in the living room are replace I would have given it 5 stars for the price of the rental. The TVs in the pictures have been upgraded. The views from every room are great. The top deck has a table with 4 chairs. The middle deck also has a table with 4 chairs. They are in the shade most of the day, which is a nice break from the sun on the lake. The dock is about 3 stories from the top of the house, which isn't that bad for Smith Lake. The dock is two swim platforms put together. This is where we spent most of the day. One has a sun deck top which you can jump into the lake from. The basement closet has swim toys and chairs for the dock. A great bonus. Trident Marina is very close where you can rent a boat or Sea-Doo. We rented a Sea-Doo for the day and it was well worth it. We saw fish around dock but it was very hot and they weren't biting. Yes we would rent it again. It is a great place at the price point."

  • Wonderful! We want to come back!

"19 adults plus 3 young children stayed over New Years 2017. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back. The place was clean and lots of room for everyone. It rained most of the time we were there, so we couldn't do the hiking and boating and kayaking that we wanted to do. However, there was plenty of space for extra tables to be set up for games and puzzles. What a great place to make good memories! Arley is not very far away and we enjoyed a local church service Sunday morning. Thanks Joe for letting us use your wonderful home. We hope it works out to come back!"
