"My family, friends and I stayed in this house for 4 days and 3 nights. We never wanted for anything. Completely stocked kitchen to cook in, while looking out at your guests enjoying the beautiful sky, mountains and yes the cows, horses and goats in a ranch near by. The game room was downstairs so those who went to bed early never heard the pool table in the wee hours. The Jacuzzi was HOT, the pool was cool. Plenty of beds for the 6 of us and did notice more to pull out up and down stairs. The Sequoias are up the highway on a beautiful drive If you are into staying indoors there is plenty to do there as well. I can tell you we will return time and time again. For we love the Apple Festival, Rodeo and SciCon BBQ. I appreciate the sharing of this wonderful house, it went way beyond my imagination. Thank you for a wonderful vacation."

  • Comfortable, spacious, well appointed, beautiful views. We loved our stay here.

"We loved our stay at Bear Spring Cabin. There is so much to do and see both on the property and in the nearby Sequoia groves and surrounding mountains. We wish we could have stayed longer. The house and grounds were spacious and had everything we needed."

  • Wonderful roomy house in a great location

"The house was roomy and comfortable, complete with large windows to let in the light and a fireplace with plenty of wood on site (firewood is included in the optional internet/cleaning package, which is additional to the advertised rate). Everything was as described, and the house was clean and in great condition when we arrived. The kitchen was well stocked with cookwear and dishes, and the TV/DVD player worked without a hitch. The water was more than hot enough throughout our stay (whatever the issue the previous reviewer had with hot showers had definitely been fixed). The house is up on a hill, so we needed chains to get up the last road and driveway (there had been snow two days earlier, and though it had been plowed it was still somewhat snowy/icy), but the location, higher than the surroundings and off the main roadway, gives you a sense of space and peace as you gaze out across the pine trees, especially from upstairs. When we called Len on the house phone (which is either satellite or internet) for our virtual check-in, he gave us great information about ski/snowshoe trail locations, which we explored over the next few days. It was comforting to know that there was a working phone line in case of an emergency given that there's no cell service up there. We brought our dogs along (there's an additional pet fee), who had a wonderful time as well. The only issue we had was the thermostat in the house, which did not seem to correspond to the house temperature (the house was a bit too too warm, and even turning the thermostat all the way down did not seem to work). That's better than the opposite problem, of course, as it's easily remedied by cracking a window, but we definitely did not want to burn propane for no reason. A few light bulbs were out here and there throughout the house, which we told the owner about when we left. We had a fantastic time hanging out in the house and snowshoeing and skiing on the trails that start near Ponderosa Lodge and will definitely be back."

  • Gorgeous property with otherworldly view!

"Had such an amazing peaceful time here. Can't recommend highly enough. Fred was really great and easy to deal with. The property is beautiful, and the view from the deck is unbelievable. Home is spacious, while cozy and clean. It's a windy drive down to Camp Nelson, so I suggest bringing your own food, the home has everything you need to cook. And why leave? Let the internet and emails and worries of the world wait."
