  • Had a great time, and the Adams House fit our needs perfectly.

"The layout of the Adams House worked well for our group of three adult couples. Kitchen, breakfast room and dining room worked very efficiently for our group breakfasts. Beds were comfortable. Living room is spacious. The house itself had many interesting architectural details and we enjoyed the library. Nice to find several guidebooks to the Yosemite area on the shelves, since we mislaid ours on the way out to California. This is an older house, which was far more interesting to us than a bland, cookie cutter modern room. It was clean, although as expected in a house this age, we found the usual dings and wear and tear of a century of life. The town of Mariposa is charming and we enjoyed some nice meals at good restaurants. In particular, the Savoury was good. Our main activity was touring Yosemite. You can expect a 40 min. car ride to the park over a good, scenic highway. Overall, an excellent experience and a good place to stay."

  • Beautiful secluded retreat with all the amenities you could ever want! Highly recommended!

"This is a beautiful home and was the perfect place for our family of 4 adults to spend a week. It is very spacious and airy but still feels cozy and comfy. Our family is spread out in Chicago, Austin and San Francisco so we met in San Fran and drove over (3.5-4hrs) to spend a week at Yosemite National Park. We wanted a place that allowed us to relax and enjoy some family time but was close enough to Yosemite that we could spend our days hiking and exploring the park. (The park was unbelievably stunning, but that's another review!) All the descriptions and photos posted for this home were accurate: There are two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a sofa bed in the living room and a kitchen fully stocked with ALL the dishes, cooking utensils, pots & pans etc. you could ever want or need. We were concerned about having to use a sofa bed but our kids reported that it was really comfortable! No bars or sagging thin mattress - it was a nice solid foam mattress on a flat platform. There was a full bedding set up for use with the sofa bed as well. There is a hot tub outside which we used once. We were so exhausted after our days in the park that we usually came home and dived into bed immediately, but it was fun on our last night to relax under the harvest moon in the warmth of a nice soak. We didn't use the wood burning stove as it was 90+ during our stay and we needed the AC - not heat! The solitude and quiet were amazing and wild turkeys, humming birds and deer visited the property. We liked the fact that the town of Mariposa was only about 10 minutes away. We ate at some great restaurants there (we highly recommend Charles Street Dinner House and Savoury's), and found that the Pioneer Market grocery store had everything we needed at very reasonable prices. The home is an hour drive from the park entrance (Another 20+minutes to Yosemite Village from there) but the road is beautiful and since it was later in the season the traffic going to/from the park wasn't a problem. If it was peak season I would anticipate the drive could be slower as it is very mountainous and there are rarely areas to pass. So my advice is to sit back and enjoy the journey - just allow enough time to get to the park if you have reservations for anything inside the park. If you want a getaway retreat fairly close to Yosemite this is an excellent option!"

  • Picturesque Vacation Getaway

"We loved this house! We stayed over Labor Day weekend, and felt very at home and comfortable. The Ripmas thought of everything. The house was clean and well-maintained. We loved taking a dip in the pool after the long drive from LA. The views from the porch are amazing.....and the porch itself was so fun! My kids and I spent time swinging on the swing, and our family enjoyed breakfast on the porch. Thanks for a wonderful stay...we hope we'll be coming back soon!"

  • Absolutely wonderful!

"This place is amazing! Exactly as described. It is small, but not cramped, and about as close to Yosemite as you can expect to stay without staying in the park. We had 4 adults and a 4 month old and found it to be the perfect size. The land the home is on is beautiful, open, and remote enough to feel very private (while still being close enough to get into Mariposa as needed).w We unfortunately were unable to use the observatories, as our baby was always asleep once it got dark and we didn't want to leave her, but the instructions for using them were clear and concise. Overall I am so glad we found this place!!! Great home-based for our Yosemite trip!"
