  • A cabin feel with a full kitchen

"First of all, the big bear vacations staff was outstanding. They kept their office open to make sure all their customers got their keys as most people were delayed because of the blizzard. So definitely kudos to them. The rental had functional amenities that were all working well. Hot water, heater and hot tub all made the experience smooth. A fully equipped kitchen made it a breeze to cook and the large table sat all of us comfortably with a nice view of the snow covered trees. You'll need to go up some somewhat steep roads so pack some chains if you don't have a 4x4. Also upon arrival you will face a few flights of stairs, so be prepared. The place was clean and even had some board games for us to play. Linens and towels were clean and fresh. The pool table was a great extra. Views are nice from the balcony. The location is about 10 minutes away by car (in the snow) from the big bear mountain resort. I would come back to this cabin and definitely recommend it to friends."

  • Large, partially updated house with flat driveway but hilly street

"We stayed here recently and came up during one of the big storms. The pluses are that the driveway itself is flat, kitchen and one bath are updated, furniture is in nice condition, the kids loved the pool table, the property is on a great slope for sledding, and the house fit our family of 7 nicely without feeling like we were on top of one another. Negatives would be that one bathroom could use a little TLC/updating and the drive from the main streets to the house has a lot of steep hills on which other people get stuck on in the snow, causing you to be stuck behind them. The snow was amazing while we were there, so we lucked out and the inconvenience of the drive up was minimal. The property has a large slope in the backyard which is perfect for sledding and a nice deck if you only want to watch. It has beautiful views and you can see some of the Snow Mtn runs from the back windows. Overall, this house was well worth it and I would book this one again for the comfort and scenery. One addition I would make is to put mats inside near the front door and both sliders so you can leave your wet boots out to dry."
