  • Most beautiful coastline in CA

"Such an quaint, beautiful, comfortable, picturesque stay at Shalimere. Loved walking into the beamed-rotunda ceiling. Lorie really makes you [and our dog] feel welcome and right at home. Access to the private beach was amazing on such a gorgeous, sunny day. Definitely drive north to Elk for a bite to eat and a stop into the local art gallery was great. Driving south to Manchester along the cyprus-lined scenic drive for some thai food was nice too. Lorie's got this thing down to a science - thank you!!"

  • The property is beautiful!

"Nena was more than helpful! She let us know the best river accesses. There are driving trails if you follow the road leading to the cabin. They are awesome. The views are astounding. We will definitely be coming back."

  • Lovely time!

"So peaceful, and convenient! I loved the quiet and walkability of the cottage. It was so nice to sit out in front and relax in the sun across from the vines, then later sleep in the deep quiet in a comfy bed. And it was so great to be able to walk into town, to the brewery, to Penny Royal. And being able to prepare meals in the fully stocked kitchen (though the one thing that seemed to missing, unless I just I missed it, was a set of measuring spoons, which would have been nice to have) was especially nice considering meal options were particularly limited in the middle of the week when I was there. I will note that I was not able to get cell (Verizon) service in the cottage, which would have been useful to know ahead of time. But overall, it was a really lovely stay."

  • Artful Inland Property

"What you 'll find here: a very cozy, tasteful home with custom woodworking and delightful ceramic art made by the hosts; fresh cut flowers; a nice deep tub and large bathroom; comfy bed with TV/DVD player; quiet picnic area and lovely garden; lots of information on local activities; hiking into Russian Gulch park from the property; and very gracious, accommodating hosts. What you won't find: pages and pages of rules (don't do this, don't so that); cell reception (there is a land line phone though); and views of the ocean (it's three miles inland). A very tasteful place that offers a very good value. I can see why pets aren't allowed with the nice woodwork and furnishings, though I did miss my doggies, it was good to take a break from caring for them. The location is adjacent to the property owners house, which normally I don't really like but in this case, was a plus, because Bob and Diane are good people and nice to have nearby. The location does require driving out a few miles to local attractions or to get to the ocean. It made for a very nice getaway for R & R and a base to explore the coast."
