  • LOVED this property!!

"After a long search for lodging, we settled on this house and were most certainly pleased with our find!! We looked over the pictures and knew it was billed as "remote" and "rustic".. but for 3 "City Girls" we found it to be just lovely and not too remote that we felt removed from civilization. The house is spacious and well laid out. At first glance, the kitchen may seem small, but if it lacks in space - it certainly makes up in charm and functionality! It was well stocked and very well thought out. The deck and surrounding back yard area proved to be beautiful, but the meadow further back was just a treasure!! We spent time in the late afternoon enjoying the noise of the beach and the beautiful nature-filled views, only to wish we had MORE time to relax there! We all agreed that we would rent this property again in a second!! The house is located right in the middle of Fort Bragg and Mendocino, which makes exploring and shopping a breeze. We found the owners very easy to work with and accommodating of our needs. Couldn't have been happier with our stay!!"

  • Cosy cottage in the redwoods

"The cottage was just as we expected from the listing: well appointed and well equipped, very clean and well maintained. Views to the ocean through a corridor of redwoods and large skylight windows made the cottage feel light and welcoming even in inclement weather. The owners provided maps and local information regarding walks and recreation facilities. We particularly enjoyed the Bluff Walk and further north, a visit to Point Arena Lighthouse. As we were warned, local restaurants are few and not in walking distance, but the well-equipped kitchen made self- catering easy. We did have a delicious and reasonably priced meal at the Sea Ranch Lodge. The cottage is ideal for couples, but would probably not be suitable for very young children because of the stairs to the mezzanine style bedroom. However, twin bunk beds built into the side of the stairwell would be a real adventure for 7 to 10 year olds! And the two person spa was great too. We had a great stay and would thoroughly recommend this property to friends and family."

  • A magical summer

"We rented the beach house for 2 magical months, summer 2016. There are views from every room in the house. The location is perfect, walking distance to everything in Mendocino. There is a path right from the backyard to the beach. The house has plenty of room and a relaxed atmosphere. I would definitely stay here again"

  • Oceanfront in March

"I would actually give 4 1/2 stars. Together with another couple, we visited this home for 6 days in March. Our stay included warm sunny days and a scary hurricane-like storm. This home is an amazing place to be, in either situation. The views are stunning. The waves pounded nonstop. Lighthouse beacon swirled through our bedroom at night. It was a very special place to be. Downside: we did have to battle ants in the kitchen and went out to buy some ant spray, as there was none in the house. The other kitchen issue was the complete disarray of items in the drawers and some of the cupboards, which resulted in lots of hunting around for needed utensils or containers. I would think the maids or cleaning crew could make some sense of the kitchen chaos. We have stayed in other places where everything had a labeled place, and were much more organized in the kitchen. We enjoyed the pool table during the storm, and thankfully the power didn't go out. Fireplace kept us warm and cozy. I was able to fly my kite on the bluff on the sunny days, a nice breeze was just right. Our friends said the downstairs bed was good for them. We found the upstairs bed to be quite hard; it could have used a foam topper! This home is in a lovely neighborhood and close to both Mendocino Village and Fort Bragg. Owner was very easy to work with and we extended our stay for an extra day without any trouble."
