  • The perfect get away from it all cabin!

"Not only was the cabin cozy, peaceful, quiet and clean, but it has the most amazing view of the Rocky's. Plus Jerry is the absolute nicest and most hospitable host you could ask for. Went out of his way to ensure our stay was perfect."

  • Mid-Week getaway

"The cabin was a calm and peaceful retreat. I enjoyed the well-stocked kitchen and the homey feel. I had a question about the wifi and it was answered immediately. All in all a great couple of days."

  • Amazing, Inspiring, peaceful & Refreshing

"Located in the Colorado mountains at 9000 feet, to get to this cabin you have to leave the main road & take a road through the national forest to get to the property. The cabin set is on 20 acres on top of a mountain. It was very private, peaceful & relaxing. The air is filled with the fresh crisp smells of the mountains & pines. From the Cabin you can see surrounding mountains, pines, aspens, rock formations, & in the distance the continental divide. It was wonderful to watch the different storms come in over the divide. During one storm there was a rainbow below us in the distance that lasted for hours. We would sit in lawn chairs or the lay in the hammock & take in the beauty & sounds of the forest(No city noises). Night viewing of stars was breathtaking. The low humidity & higher altitude plus no city lights make for wonderful star gazing. We set out many a night watching the stars. The early morning hours were great for stargazing & then watching the sun come up & hit the continental divide. Sunset was beautiful with full colors on & around the mountains. We really enjoyed hiking through the forest & enjoying the scenery. The soil was soft & spongy similar to a padded carpet so hiking around was easy on the feet & legs. There is a private lake just a mile away that we were allowed to fish. Really big rainbow trout 16-20" and lots of them. We chose to catch & release the ones we caught. A short drive away there are a couple of towns with a market, restaurants & lots of shopping. The people we met were friendly & helpful. The cabin was awesome. Very comfortable & with most of the modern conveniences. (No dishwasher or washer/dryer) It was all solar powered & had internet & satellite TV service so we could stay connected with home. We even found a spot on the property where our Verizon cell service worked. The Cabin was beautiful. The ladder & trim were crafted from trees taken from the property as well as some of the stonework. One of the owners is a stone mason by trade & has done elaborate stonework both inside & outside the cabin. You can see the craftsmanship & heart that went into building this amazing cabin. They have done an immense amount of work throughout the property. We really can't say enough about how much we enjoyed this oasis in the mountains. Iowa is at an elevation of 955'-0, so there was some adjustment time to the 9000-foot elevation. Drink lots of water to help you adjust. If you want to get away this is the place for you!"
