  • Secluded and well appointed!

"The Ice House at Highland Lake was a great location and a wonderful place to host friends and family. The Ice House would also be a great writing paradise any time of the year! Job well done!"

  • A week to remember on Highland Lake

"The photos for this property do not do it justice. It sits right on the lake, at its quietest edge. When the sun rises in the morning, there is a wonderful pink glow to the sky. As the sun gets high enough over the hills to touch the lake, mist rises from the water. The start of the day was just magical, especially when one paddled out on the house kayak onto the calmest waters ever! Meanwhile, the house is very nice. The beds were quite comfy. The kitchen was fully operational and there were two refrigerators that let us stock up for the week. We entertained as many at 15 at a barbecue and ping pong table "tournament." There were card games on the second story patio and at the dining table, duck and fish feeding off the dock, floating on the tubes that came with the house, and lounging in the grass yard. Meanwhile, Marc, the owner was very attentive. It was a great way for an extended family to spend a memorable vacation."

  • Amazing stay in a great town

"Pines Place is a wonderful town in Upstate NY with a lot to offer both locally and in the neighboring Millbrook. We had an amazing time at Jock and Paula's home which is tastefully done and has all the amenities you could need. Melissa was a great help in getting us settled and was available promptly to answer any questions. We had a few minor observations that we've shared with Jock and Paula which, we hope, will help further enhance the experience of future guests. I highly recommend their home, and them as hosts."

  • A Very Nice Home on Birch Road at Robinson Pond, Copake, NY

"We enjoyed our one month stay at a lovely, well equipped and spotlessly clean home very much. The three bedrooms, good sized living area and very well equipped kitchen were outstanding features. Among the half dozen homes near the Berkshires and on Cape Cod we have rented through the years this one had the best equipped kitchen. Also a strong feature is its close proximity to one of the beaches on the pond (about a one block walk down the hill to the Lakeview Road beach access). Also featured are two kayaks and an aluminum rowboat at the pond launching area several blocks from the house. We and our guests enjoyed paddling around on the pond. The owner was readily available by phone and quite helpful the one time we needed him. (The cable company switched from analog to digital transmission on July 1 and thus there was no reception that morning. The owner had to call the cable company to get them to come and replace the cable receiver boxes for both TVs before they would work again.) WiFi (via DSL) is also piped in and the cellphone signal is good. There are many cultural as well as recreational attractions in the area. We are classical music buffs and attended a number of concerts at Tanglewood (45 minutes away), Hotchkiss School (25 min.), Music Mountain (45 min) and Aston Magna at Great Barrington (25 min). Highly recommended -- we hope to return in a year."
