  • Quiet Community and Amazing Beach

"We stayed at "Summer of '42" after Labor Day while the weather was still warm. We chose this location because it was dog friendly and close to the beach. We literally had the beach to ourselves most of the time. Occasionally someone might walk by or another group might be set up a couple 100 yards away, leaving you in complete serene peace to listen to the waves. It was also a fantastic dog friendly beach and community, which is so rare. The house is really lovely and a 2 min walk to the beach. Skylights allow for tons of light, great beach breezes when weather permits, everything you need for the meal prep, and lots of room for a few people or enough space to accommodate many without being on top of each other. The front screened sleeping porch proved a favorite to watch the neighborhood. The backyard gazebo is a huge bonus. It allowed us to grill and enjoy the hot tub at night or on a rainy day. The accommodations were comfortable and clean and we felt right at home. David was a pleasure to work with the entire time. Unfortunately I had to disturb him with a question when we arrived and he immediately responded and helped us out. A lot of people say call for anything, but he really means it and makes you glad you reached out. I can't rave enough about the location of this rental. The entire Broadkill Beach community is surrounded by a Nature Reserve. Just the drive to and from Coastal Highway provides amazing scenery and opportunities for bird and wildlife watching. Fishing opportunities all around - surf and river. Rehobeth is no more than a 20 min drive if you want touristy options or outlets, Lewes less than that with incredibly charming shops and history and the Cape May Ferry. If you have a day you don't want to spend at the beach - you've got Dogfish Head Brewery within 15 mins, not to mention Mispillian, Evolution, Old Dominion/Fordham and 16 Mile Breweries within a short drive. Nothing better than a fresh growler and a hot tub to ease away any stress. We would definitely recommend this rental and hope to return in the future. We had a fabulous vacation! Sheila T."

  • Wonderful escape

"This was a wonderful week for my family ! Especially for my teenager who was able to benefit from the handicap accessible unit as he has a disability , the unit was spacious , clean and very welcoming . We especially loved being steps from the beach . The sunrise and sunset breathtaking , the area is quiet and relaxing ! Just what we had in mind . Shops and restaurants 15 minutes away as well as Lewes and Dewey beaches ( with the traditional boardwalk beach experience ) we will definitely be back and want to keep this gem a little secret . Thank you for a great vacation :)"

  • Perfect place for a quiet, relaxing vacation.

"Stayed here for a week in hot, hot July. The place is adorable-- very cute "beach cottage" feel to it. If you are looking for modern, this is not the place, and I don't mean that in a negative way-- It was just what we wanted for our stay. Cozy! Very clean and well equipped! The kitchen has everything you would need. We were worried about the double bed being a problem, but it was very comfortable with good pillows. The beach chairs were mostly rusted, one was useable. We had decided to bring our own just in case! The porch was amazing. We had bay breezes all but one day, and even with the temp being 95 or above most days, we were cool on the porch. There is a strategically placed ceiling fan over the comfortable Adirondak chairs -- that was my favorite spot!! The washing machine was hidden in the bathroom closet- took me a minute to find it, but it worked well. The air conditioning worked well and kept us cool at night. Views of the sunrise were amazing! If I had to suggest anything to the owners, it would be to clean up the foliage on the side of the house near the steps. It is overgrown there..... Just a general sprucing up outside would be nice. Owners were great to work with, would definitely rent again, and recommend to all our friends. Great views of the bay, right on the beach, and very quiet. We are 60, and it was just what we wanted. We did not venture out much- but Lewes, Rehoboth, and Milton are just a short drive away with lots of activity and commercialism if that's what you like! The little store in Broadkill carries everything from toiletries to fishing supplies. On a side note, we both have been coming to Broadkill since we were children. It is our favorite beach in Sussex County. Perfect!!"

  • Great Family Spot

"Having just left this beautiful beach house, we are ready to return. From the toddler digging holes in the sand, to the dog trying to catch and eat the waves, to this grandmother sitting on the almost deserted beach reading, we all enjoyed our time there. Abby and Diane were most understanding and patient, with the mechanical issues. The views, the house itself, the beach, the area. Perfect, beautiful. As soon as you open the front door you will feel welcome at your home for the week. Abby and Diane, thank you."
