  • 5-star stay in paradise "Paradise place"

"We (family of 6, 4 children 15-16-17-19) had a great time at Jim and Theresa's place. The property was clean and I could not mention any item that we possibly could need that was not there. And then there's Jim's shed, loaded with snorkeling gear, fishing rods, filled fridge, tools, bicycles, toys and inflatables, stuff for the kayaks, canoes, BBQ etc... The possibilities of fishing, kayaking, boating etc. have already been mentioned before in multiple reviews. Just as the abundance of wildlife around the house and in the canal. I won't repeat that - but all of it is true. Highlight was the arrival of 6 (!) manatees at the same time! Comment from my wife is that we finally had a house that had sufficient frying pans of considerable size to accommodate a family of 6... But most important thing: we felt at home the moment we entered the property. Another minor thing that was really appreciated: since we're from The Netherlands Jim did not come up with a personal cheque for the deposit, but returned it in cash on our last day. The one thing that was annoying was the arrival of no-see-ums and mosquitoes at around 7 PM. And since our party contains 2 that have an allergy for insect bites we spent the late evenings inside. So bring enough repellent! Thanks for a wonderful stay Jim and Theresa - we might see each other again! Rien de Bruijne and family The Netherlands"

  • Great spot for the whole family

"It was a pleasant surprise to see the location of this house. It was at the end of a canal of mangroves, not too far of a boat ride to the ocean to do some snorkeling or to go further out to do some fishing. It was also a short drive to John Pennekamp State park. The house was beautifully decorated and had plenty of room for the 12 people we had in our group. The kitchen was great with large fridge and new washer and dryer that we used quite a bit! The pictures of the pool does not do it justice, it was against the house and stay shaded on one side and very clean. They had 2 kayaks that came with the house so we were able to enjoy time kayaking through the mangroves (we found manatees, a mom and 2 babies). The kids (and adults) really enjoyed having a pool table and ping pong table when it got too hot outside. There were 3 bedrooms upstairs (one master with an on suite and the other 2 bedrooms shared a bathroom) and also 2 bedrooms downstairs. My only negative would be there were no bathrooms downstairs, so whoever slept downstairs had to walk upstairs to use the restroom! I would, without a doubt, stay here again. Key Largo is definitely not as 'busy' as a little further south like Islamorada, but still have some great stores and restuarants to visit. I suggest going to Bayside Grille to watch the sunset and sit downstairs, they had great food and the bartenders/waiters did an amazing job keeping up with the crowd. We were taking this trip to spend time together as a family and the location of the house and activities we could do without leaving the house made that possible. Raisa and her husband were very kind in making sure we had a great stay. Thanks again!"

  • We should have stayed longer!

"We rented this house from Mid-December to end of February, 2016. It was easy to settle in and decide we were at home. As others have said, the house layout makes it feel larger than expected. The beds are very comfortable. The second queen bedroom is separate from the others and was perfect for a room for my friend's visit. Nice size bathrooms. Nicely laid out kitchen. My husband likes to cook and he had all the utensils and pots, pans & appliances he needed to cook fresh fish from Key Largo Fisheries. The location is quiet. The neighbors are very nice - and most days are away working. It is only a couple of blocks to the owners' park, where you can put in the kayaks. We enjoyed kayaking in the mangroves so much, we bought one to take home. The mangroves and Largo Sound were great for fishing. The bicycles were a nice bonus. We did bike to Pennekamp State Park and north on Overseas Highway to have lunch at the Buzzards Roost or go to the Botanical Gardens (great walk). The walking path along Overseas Highway was great for running or walking. The back yard of this house is an entire living area. There is a very nice picnic area with a chiminea to enjoy evening fires. Wifi and Satellite TV are included. I can't say enough good things about this house."

  • Perfect Key Largo Vacation!!!

"From the moment we discovered Jose and Maria’s home and decided to stay there, our experience was wonderful. They were easy to work with and provided perfect directions for our arrival. They answered all questions before our stay and made our experience very easy. Plus they thought of things a family would need including activity suggestions while on vacation. We loved John Pennecamp Park for canoeing and snorkeling and it was a quick five minutes or so to get there. It was an easy day trip to Key West or the Everglades. We found a cute public beach nearby to watch the beautiful sunsets every night. I would highly recommend staying here. It was a perfect family vacation and we loved every minute. It was very hard to leave and return home afterwards. Thanks for sharing your home."
