  • Retreat and Relaxation

"We arrived at Reel Good Time and were pleased that the house was roomier than we visualized from the photos. We were able to go exploring all the area beaches due to our location and though we had been to St. George Island before, we were able to visit Cape San Blas and Alligator point as well. The forgotten coast has so many gems to see! The town of Carrabelle was friendly and very close. Millenders seafood had great fresh catches and the local pizza place had friendly staff and great pizzas for take out. One of the joys for us was seeing our son play and explore on the beach. He is 11, so we would never leave him alone on a beach with strong waves, but in this case we did feel comfortable to leave him on the beach and in the shallow water knowing we could see him well and were very close to him from the living room and kitchen. The water was so calm because of the barrier islands. The small sting rays came right up to the shore in shallow water after the rain and the horseshoe crabs made an appearance as well. Ghost Crab hunting at night was a treat for our son! The kitchen was well stocked and the house felt roomy and comfortable. The master bath had a jetted tub. We had houses on either side but no one was there so it felt totally private. We were truly able to relax and enjoy family time!"

  • Lousy cable!

"Just got home from On The Rocks. Spent four week there and for the most part was very happy. House needs some work but nothing really major. Front steps are a little scary but the owner just had to replace the back deck and steps after a hurricane took them out. I'm sure he will get to the front.Would be great if he could do a handicap ramp. I have a hard time with stairs and have a grandson in a wheelchair and we are going to end up going somewhere other than Alligator Point because thay have very few homes that are handicap friendly. We were there for 4 weeks and had no tv for for 3 of those weeks. Spotty wifi for the first 2 weeks. Owner called the cable people and we called the cable company! Finally got them out to fix it on our 3rd week then it was off and on the 4th week.Lousy cable provider. Have no problem at all with the owner or the rental agent they are doing a great job. Spent most of our time on the screened porch the view would make you forget about tv problems! We will be back!"

  • Beautiful and relaxing

"River Dance was a fantastic place to stay for a quiet, romantic weekend getaway! Greg has a bad knee, but there aren't so many steps in/out that it bothered him. It's small, but seems roomy with its vaulted ceiling and wall of windows facing the river. Cozy, not claustrophobic. It helped that it was beautifully decorated in such a way that fishermen will be very comfortable yet with enough feminine details that the ladies will love it, too. The kitchen was well stocked, the bathroom is huge so that there's plenty of room to dress after your bath in the fabulous jet tub and the mattress in The bedroom was firm, but comfortable. The sunsets from the dock were simply *amazing* and not to be missed! Plan on an early enough dinner so you can be home in time to enjoy a glass of wine as you take pic after pic. Things you may want to bring that the beach going type may overlook: Bug spray for watching that sunset Shoes to unload and reload the car suitable for walking in the oyster shells covering the drive (I only had flip flops) A crab basket or two for crabbing off the dock (there is one very small one) (and rope to tie them) A crab pot (the only thing not in the kitchen we could have used IF we had caught any) And that's about it. We had a lovely stay and the owner was very flexible about our last minute plans. We definitely look forward to going again and maybe bringing the boys to climb the ladder and sleep in the loft and fish off the dock with us!"
