  • A wonderful holiday

"We stayed at a house called Nibblin on Sponge Cake on the island of North Captiva, Florida. The house had everything we needed and the owners were absolutely fabulous, prior to, during and upon leaving the island. Thank you."

  • Relaxing and comfortable

"If what you want from a vacation is sun, sea, relaxation and all the comforts you need to help you enjoy that then this rental is for you. The owners, Toni and Mike were, once again, extremely helpful and accommodating and the house gave us an excellent base with everything we needed for a great vacation. North Captiva is one of those places that you want to keep secret yet shout about because it is so fantastic if you like relaxing by the pool, walking on the beach or watching the sunset as you fish from the shore. If you like night life and action then perhaps this place is not for you but this was our fifth visit to the island and second to this house and we are already looking forwards to a return trip next year."

  • North Captiva-hidden island oasis!

"My wife, two daughters, my brother's family of 4, and my parents (10 of us total), enjoyed our stay at Moondance. It comfortably slept 10 people with the 4 kids in the two twin bedroom w/trundles, and the three adult couples took the other three rooms. The kitchen was well-equipped, and the home was nicely furnished. The heated pool was kept at a steady 84-85 degrees during our entire stay (which is important as it remains in the shade the majority of the day). The unit came with two golf carts, and all the beach chairs needed to enjoy the beautiful beach areas of the island (where we spent most of our days). The only downside (if there actually had to be one) was having to take a short golf cart ride to the beach access points (which our family enjoyed the experience of). Also, the crow's nest deck on the top of the house provided true panoramic views of the island and the surrounding waters including the Gulf of Mexico and the Intercoastal Waterway. We utilized Island Girl to ferry out, and we were welcomed dockside by the very friendly owner who had a trailer in tow to haul our luggage and groceries to the house for us while giving us a lay of the land tour. The elevator in the home was an added bonus when unloading the luggage upon our arrival, and would benefit anyone needing wheelchair accessibility. We utilized the on island boat rental place for two days to explore surrounding islands, and to grab lunch elsewhere (which is not necessary if staying on the island). We also highly recommend Barnacle Phil's Restaurant and the ice cream shop above it. There were dolphins everywhere on both sides of the island, and the national park on the southern part of the island was an amazing and exhausting walk to the other end of the island. I don't recommend doing it in flip-flops and younger kids. LOL The feeling of being removed from large amounts of people, and a friendly island atmosphere radiated through my mind the entire week. It was a very relaxing and quite vacation. My entire family ALL walked away from the vacation and said that it was the best vacation by far of any that we have taken over the past 12 years together including stays at Captiva Island, various points in the Florida keys, Marco Island, Longboat key, and others. I would highly recommend North Captiva, and Moondance is a beautiful LARGE home for the price."

  • Awesome House

"We really enjoyed our time at North Captiva in Perfect Placement. The location of the house was great. It is close enough that our 4 year old daughter could walk from the house to the beach with no problems. The house was very clean and everything worked without problems. We loved the outdoor seating although we didn't get to use it as much due to frequent rain showers. There was an assortment of games, even our family's favorite game Settlers of Catan! Alicia was very quick to respond and very helpful. I am a runner and the trail going toward the south part of the island was very close (really everything is close on the island). If you are a runner this is a really nice trail! A few little things would have made this a 5 star: 1) Park style grill - I have a Big Green Egg and while I don't expect everyone to have one, but the park style grills are about the last thing I want to grill on. I know the salt makes the cheaper grills deteriorate quickly but it would be nice to have something with a little more temperature control. (A Big Green Egg would actually withstand the salt and would be an outstanding addition) 2) SUP or Kayak - The club does have kayaks but it would have been nice to have something right there at the house 3) Beach Umbrella - we had clouds almost the entire week which made this less of an issue but for a week of sun with little kids this would have been a must. 4) Beach toys - there are some buckets and shovels, which we did appreciate and use, but a couple boogie boards would have been fun. These are small things but given that the island isn't the easiest to get to and we flew from Arkansas these are the things that would have made it a 5 star. Overall this is a great house for 1-2 large families. There is plenty of room to move around and relax. The views are wonderful, the beds were comfortable, there was ample seating. The kitchen supplies were ample and there was plenty of cups/plates/cutlery. There are turtle nests on the island although we didn't get to see one. We saw plenty of manatees and dolphins, thankfully no sharks. We didn't fish but rode the ferry with some guys who did and caught some really nice ones. If you and your family are looking to get away from it all then we do recommend Perfect Placement."
