  • Wonderful

"Our family of 11 stayed at the Captiva beach sunset home right on the beach and we have no complaints at all. From the moment we arrived till we left we felt like we were in paradise! Beautiful beach and a very relaxing environment. Everyone was friendly and helpful and there if we needed anything. Tom was great to have as a contact to help with any questions we had about the house. We will definitely be returning. Wonderful place to vacation!"

  • Beach Therapy

"From the initial booking of the reservation with Sarah of to our arrival and greeting by Laurie and Duncan of Tortuga Properties, our stay was 100% relaxation and rejuvenation. A great family vacation. It was a huge help to have Laurie and Duncan on the island to help with any questions that came up. The house had everything we needed. It is spacious and very comfortable. Beautiful pool, hot tub and view from the roof deck!"

  • Another amazing and relaxing trip

"We enjoyed our second stay in this well-appointed, beautiful house. The pool made our trip since the beach was chilly. Everything we needed was in the home. We just unpacked our bags and groceries and enjoyed los olas and north captiva. Heaven!"

  • Wonderful Getaway!

"My wife, two sons (ages 16 and 10), and I had a fantastic 1 week vacation here recently. Horst and Kirsten were so nice and accommodating for our entire trip. They really went out of their way multiple times to make sure our visit was enjoyable and hassle-free including help getting off and on the ferry. First of all, we loved the island. If you are the type who doesn't mind planning out a week's worth of meals and either packing the groceries or having them delivered, then you will be rewarded with a unique and fantastic beach vacation. Crystal green water (early March). Dolphins following along in the wake on the ferry ride out. Spectacular uncrowded beach. Lots of great natural scenery and wildlife (water birds, dolphins, manatees, bald eagles and more) with the entire southern half of the island as a protected nature preserve. Some of the best shelling in the world. Sandy trails for bikes and golf carts winding around the island. It's a beautiful and relaxing environment for the whole family. We chose this particular house because of its proximity to the beach, access to both clubs on the island (Safety Harbor and Captiva Island), and nice furnishings. We were not disappointed. The house was very clean, comfortable and well-appointed. Lots of natural light. Lots of decks - covered and uncovered. A kitchen furnished every bit as well as our kitchen at home. And, my personal favorite, a rooftop deck where you could watch the sun rise over the bay and set over the ocean. What I could not appreciate until we got to the island was the convenient location of the house (vs houses on the tip or further down toward the preserve). The house looks out over the ocean and is about a 2 minute walk to the prettiest stretch of beach on the island. We were a short walk - and even shorter ride - to both clubs, a great birding bond, the 4 restaurants and the ferry dock. The only caution I'd offer is that we had very mediocre and expensive meals at The Boat House and The Pool Bar (Captiva Island Club). We would not go back to either place. We had a good meal at Barnacles (yet still pricey). And we missed what we later learned was probably the best food on the island at On the Waterfront. Bottom line - take advantage of the great kitchen and screen porch dining looking out on the ocean and plan on having most meals at the house. To sum it up, I'd highly recommend North Captiva and this particular house if you're looking for a slower-paced beach vacation!"
