  • Simply ideal!

"The easy way to write this review is to simply say that we agree with everything the previous reviewers wrote! We were delighted with our first stay on North Captiva, primarily because we were fortunate enough to have chosen this property. The property was spotlessly clean and has that still-new shiny feeling. The top-floor living area is open & airy and gave us the feeling of being in a tree house. The adjacent screened-in porch was ideal for reading, dining and just hanging out, watching the ospreys soaring & then perching on neighbors’ roofs. The spacious and well-equipped kitchen made eating-in easy, which we mostly did due to the limited number of dining options on the island. Each bedroom having its own en suite bathroom and TV was wonderful. The location and amenities make the Morganite well-suited to both the active and inactive; our guests included children who loved the pool, beach & bikes, and our older, less able in-laws who loved the many different places to read or watch TV. Kayaks, bikes, beach chairs, pool toys and golf carts – it’s all there. We particularly appreciated the care & concern the owners, Alex & Delphine, showed towards our occupancy. When we suggested that there were a couple of items (e.g., a reading lamp for the great room) that would make our stay better, they had the resident property managers, Laurie & Duncan, take care of things right away. As first-timers to North Captiva, it was a bit hard to understand what the location of this property meant, as compared to others we considered. Our conclusion: unless one needs to be right on the beach, this location is ideal. The house is just short walk down a sandy lane that dead-ends at the beach and is a quick golf-cart ride to either restaurant. But what really impressed us is the peacefulness & privacy of this location; the pool and back deck are bordered by trees and although there are other homes close by they are for the most part hardly visible. We hope to return next year!"

  • What a perfect, relaxing delight!

"This was our third year in a row to Rainbow's End, and every year has been better than the last. The house is just the right size for a couple, and the location is simply perfect. Whether sitting on the screened in porch or chilling out on the beach, every moment is filled with the wonderful murmur of the waves. So many dolphin sightings - we never get tired of that! The property is clean, well-maintained and beautiful, and working with Mindy was a breeze - no hiccups at all. The kitchen is well appointed (we love to cook!), and the outdoor shower is magical (I never even used the inside shower for the 11 days we were there). The only problem was that we had to leave (to come back to snow and ice - yuck!). We certainly plan on returning - just a perfect vacation and Rainbow's End was the heart of it!"

  • Perfect for large groups!

"We've stayed in numerous homes on the island over the years, but have typically had to get a couple different houses to accommodate our group. This year we wanted to be directly on the beach and all be together, so Big on the Beach was perfect for us! November is our adults only trip and we booked for 12 people and had plenty of room for everyone. The house is not as luxurious as some of the others on the island, but it is completely comfortable, spacious, very clean and great for gathering everyone together or taking time to yourself. One of the best features is being directly on the beach and not having to lug chairs, umbrellas, coolers, etc., on golf carts then down to the beach. So much easier to just walk out your door. Also, we never once turned on the A/C due to the constant ocean breeze. We merely left doors and windows open and the sound of the surf at night, was absolutely my favorite part! Keep in mind, the amount of beach fluctuates frequently on the island. We were lucky and had plenty of beach in front of the house, but I have seen the water up to the house at other times. That's probably the only issue that may effect your trip, if you're expecting to walk right out your door and land on the beach. I would highly recommend Big on the Beach for a wonderful experience and must include the caretakers as part of the reason your trip will exceed your expectations. Capt. Richie and Paula went out of their way to make sure we had an exceptional time and take such great care of the property. Thank you all for another great trip to the island!!!"

  • Perfect Getaway!

"This location and house were the perfect getaway for our two families! Located directly on the beach with beautiful sunsets and morning walks. The house is wonderfully equipped and decorated. Plenty of room for togetherness and to get some alone time also. Beds were comfortable, linens were nice - every appliance available! We cannot wait to come again next year!"
