  • Awesome House

"We really enjoyed our time at North Captiva in Perfect Placement. The location of the house was great. It is close enough that our 4 year old daughter could walk from the house to the beach with no problems. The house was very clean and everything worked without problems. We loved the outdoor seating although we didn't get to use it as much due to frequent rain showers. There was an assortment of games, even our family's favorite game Settlers of Catan! Alicia was very quick to respond and very helpful. I am a runner and the trail going toward the south part of the island was very close (really everything is close on the island). If you are a runner this is a really nice trail! A few little things would have made this a 5 star: 1) Park style grill - I have a Big Green Egg and while I don't expect everyone to have one, but the park style grills are about the last thing I want to grill on. I know the salt makes the cheaper grills deteriorate quickly but it would be nice to have something with a little more temperature control. (A Big Green Egg would actually withstand the salt and would be an outstanding addition) 2) SUP or Kayak - The club does have kayaks but it would have been nice to have something right there at the house 3) Beach Umbrella - we had clouds almost the entire week which made this less of an issue but for a week of sun with little kids this would have been a must. 4) Beach toys - there are some buckets and shovels, which we did appreciate and use, but a couple boogie boards would have been fun. These are small things but given that the island isn't the easiest to get to and we flew from Arkansas these are the things that would have made it a 5 star. Overall this is a great house for 1-2 large families. There is plenty of room to move around and relax. The views are wonderful, the beds were comfortable, there was ample seating. The kitchen supplies were ample and there was plenty of cups/plates/cutlery. There are turtle nests on the island although we didn't get to see one. We saw plenty of manatees and dolphins, thankfully no sharks. We didn't fish but rode the ferry with some guys who did and caught some really nice ones. If you and your family are looking to get away from it all then we do recommend Perfect Placement."

  • Five Star Stay in Every Regard

"When I rented The Las Olas property, I was unaware at first that it was located on an Island accessible only by Ferry. Steve the owner assured me that both his home and North Cativa Island were magical and he was so right! We loved every minute of our stay and wished we have reserved to stay longer. The house is beautifully decorated, well equipped and has amazing views of both the gulf and bay. We watched the sunrise every morning from the top observation deck and many sunsets too. We loved eating on the third floor deck, sleeping in the hammock, playing pool and ping pong and most of all love the nice sized pool and hot tube. The beach and bay are both a short walking distance from the home, which made beach going very convenient. We took the kayaks out to the sand bar one day and found many beautiful shells. We walked every inch of the beach and roads on the island, although you can also get around with the golf carts provided with the home. Steve is an amazing home ower. He is very responsive without being intrusive. He cares about you as a guest and has created one of the most beautiful and relaxing VRBOs I've ever rented. As for the island, there is so much I could say. We loved visiting the Preserve and riding our fat tire rental bikes on the trails. It was so very peaceful on North Captiva. The lack of cars and sparce residence make this the perfect vacation spot for those in need of some serious down time. We've been home for a few days and I really miss the Island. We will be returning hopefully every year and will always stay at Las Olas... So many good times and good memories!"

  • ditto of all the other perfect reviews

"This is the most perfect place. The beach is private and sandy with gorgeous shells. The wildlife is everywhere and up close. The house is clean, bright and really well appointed. Oh and Mary Beth gives you all the info you need to make your stay comfortable. Just follow her directions and you can't go wrong. My only mistake was only booking a week."

  • Great week!

"Wendy and Mark are great hosts/owners and Windswept is a great house. My wife and I, our two year old, my parents, and my aunt were all very comfortable there. The house is incredibly well stocked - the kitchen is over the top and the supplies for children (pack-and-plays, strollers, changing pads, toys in the house, toys for the pool, toys for the beach) were great. The house is right on the nature preserve border and is a great location. Very large, nice warm pool."
