  • Wonderful Getaway and North Captiva is a gem

"We happened on North Captiva online looking for a place for our family and had never been before. The home Island Splash was a perfect introduction to the island. Well stocked kitchen, nice pool and nicely laid floor plan is very good for families like ours. We have two younger children and two older. Everyone enjoyed the space very much. The house is not ocean view but that's really no matter as it makes up in other ways. They provide a pair of golf carts which are great. It's about a minute to the dock and pool club and about a minute to the beach at the end of Schooner street. The beach at the end of Butterfly Street was our go to spot everyday, and was about 3 minutes away on the cart. North Captiva is definitely worth visiting and our family will be back, and will use Island Splash again without a doubt. Also, the staff on the island are fantastic and helpful. We had no issues or complaints to speak of."

  • Very happy with the property

"The housing set up was ideal for our two families and friends. We comfortably accommodated 10 people. Having 2 of everything was ideal. We will definitely return to this property."

  • Truly Island Getaway

"We really enjoyed the beautiful island, all the descriptions and reviews of North Captiva were accurate and worth the travel. The wildlife and surrounding beaches and vegetation were lush and wild, so don't expect any nicely landscaped properties. We saw large turtles, the manatees that lived in the harbor, birds, etc. Wonderfully quiet and dark at night with just the sound of the ocean waves crashing. Watching the small planes take off and land right next to our house. Definitely a peaceful and relaxing place. Our home was exactly as described and in great condition. My only concern was the large bee hive in the back corner (not sure how long thats been there) and we had some confusion about the internet password which could have been more clear. I also wish the "lounge chairs" on the deck actually reclined back....they were a bit uncomfortable and I really wanted to nap on the porch :) Maybe add a hammock?? As for the NCIC customer service, I felt like it was mediocre. We had a lot of challenges arriving for our scheduled family vacation due to Hurricane Matthew. I called a couple times to see what my options were, and the people over the phone weren't overly helpful. Basically, if I couldn't make it, we were out of luck. I was told "that's why we offer travel insurance and you chose to decline it". In a terribly stressful time, with cancelled flights and my entire family in South Florida, with the uncertainty of the nature of the storm, I was hoping for a bit more compassion and understanding. When we arrived, it took a really long time to retrieve our luggage. We took the ferry service that "drops your luggage at the door", but I would have rather just placed it on our golf cart so we didn't have to wait forever for our food and clothing items. (The highlight of our service was when my sister left her entire luggage back in her vehicle. CJ took her keys and got her luggage on the next ferry in the morning!) I wish someone would have given us advice or warning about: 1) Red Tide - dead fish EVERYWHERE, 2) Noseeums - biting bugs everywhere 3) Where on the island you can get direct access to the beach. We were not clear on which streets led us to available beaches and a lot of them we found were "private". We also called a couple times about our internet, and it took 2 days to finally get someone to come check it out. All the amenities of the NCIC were good, but nothing outstanding."

  • Love, love,love it!!

"This was my second stay at the Turtle Nest and my first since the renovations have completed. I took two girlfriends to share this spacious home and it is so beautiful! We were able to spread out for personal space and come together in the comfy common space for movies, HGTV and just lots of girl time!! Since temperatures were chilly we didn't get to spend as much time in the watchtower or crowsnest as we would have liked but we did go up once so they could appreciate the panoramic views. We spent our days walking the winding streets of lovely cottages and meeting other visitors from Canada and all over the US. My favorite was our 8 mile round trip hike south through the nature preserve and along a beautiful shelling beach to Redfish Pass looking south across the inlet to South Seas Resort on Captiva Island. I'm so happy we gave up the hustle bustle of a crowded resort for the lovely quiet of a tropical island. The restaurants were wonderful too...delicious local seafoods !! Can't wait for my next visit!! The Turtle Nest is the best."
