  • Amazing Vacation

"This was one of the best places I have stayed! The furnishings were well appointed, up to date, and extremely comfortable. Almost everything we needed, other than food, was amply supplied -- beach towels, beach chairs, bikes, golf carts, first class amenities ( soaps, shampoo, conditioner, towels, toilet paper, napkins, paper towels), kitchen supplies, etc... While my daughter and I only used 2 of the 4 bedrooms, there were plenty of beds to accommodate up to 12 people. This house is extremely spacious, very close (less than a five minute walk) to the beach, within walking distance to the restaurants, and even had a screened porch with an open area above it with 2 lounge chairs for sunbathing. Laurie and Duncan, the property managers, were very accommodating and able/willing to meet our every need. Taylor, the owner, was always prompt in his replies to my questions, and even called me to make sure I totally understood something of which I was confused. Because there are no cars allowed on the island, and because it's not as crowded as most places in Florida, this was the most relaxed, beautiful, and enjoyable vacations I have ever taken. My only regret was that we did not plan to be there longer. Four days was not enough! One note for anyone who has never been to North Captiva Island, make sure you plan out your menus, bring some food with you, and then buy the rest of your groceries at the Publix or Winn Dixie before you take the water taxi out to the island. Or, just let Laurie or Duncan buy them for you! Also, the state Nature Preserve is not to be missed -- great hiking, shelling, and wildlife watching. Best vacation ever!"

  • Slice of Heaven

"My husband recently returned from a 6 mth deployment overseas and I was researching areas to visit for a week to decompress when I stumbled upon the Island of Upper Captiva, more specifically "Rum Cove". We feel incredibly lucky to have discovered both! Upper Captiva is a rare jewel of an environment that sets you at ease from the moment you see it. Upper Captiva is stunning in its natural beauty, the wilderness and wildlife, the trees, beaches, the sunsets and stars...it's simply captivating. The people who live/work/visit the island cherish it and take great pride in their island. The fact that there are no cars and you explore via golf carts, bikes, kayaks, and your own two feet is more refreshing than words can describe. And Rum Cove is a paradise. The home hovers beautifully over a private canal and makes you smile as soon as you see it! Rum Cove is wonderfully laid out whether you are visiting as a small or large group and whether you are there to relax or play and find adventure. Plenty of comfortable areas to relax and enjoy the outdoor views, the heated pool is spectacular, the bedrooms are very comfortable, and the kitchen is stocked with everything possibly needed to prepare your meals. Everywhere you turn it is apparent that Rum Cove is taken care of a team of people that respect and care for the home very much. One morning by chance I ran into Joe, he and his wife, Barbara, are the owners of Rum Cove. I learned that Joe discovered Upper Captiva back in the 60's due to the fact it has a landing strip and he is a pilot. He instantly fell in love with the island and Upper Captiva soon became their home. You will enjoy their discovery, hands down! Sarah, the realtor representing Rum Cove, is instrumental in making your visit possible. Captain Emily was spectacular in getting us to and from Rum Cove (even brought my brother and his family out for the weekend, late at night!). She gave us the history of Upper Captiva and the surrounding islands and made the journey very enjoyable. Tom, the property manager, met us at the dock of Rum Cove. The smile never left his face as he helped us with our things and introduced us to the house. He's only a call away if you need anything during your stay and we valued his kind heart and easy going personality. Beaulah, who keeps the home spotless, emailed us to introduce herself as well and let us know she would help us with anything desired. The absolute best experience from start to finish!"

  • Perfect Getaway!

"This location and house were the perfect getaway for our two families! Located directly on the beach with beautiful sunsets and morning walks. The house is wonderfully equipped and decorated. Plenty of room for togetherness and to get some alone time also. Beds were comfortable, linens were nice - every appliance available! We cannot wait to come again next year!"

  • Tropical Paradise

"Our stay on the Island was beyond expectations. We stayed in a beach front home, collected sand dollars on the beach, enjoyed the break from cars and traffic and relaxed with morning dolphin sightings and gorgeous sunsets. The few restaurants, although pricey, were quite delicious. Everyone on the island is pleasant and the culture is laid back and stress free!"
