  • Awesome!!!!!!

"Rarely does a property live up to or exceed its description, but this one exceeds in spades! It's hard to believe that a so beautifully "decorated" place can also be so utilitarian and comfortable yet we and our two young boys (7 & 9) could not have been more at ease. Especially telling was that after a day at beach and pool, we could not wait to return to the unit where we felt we were in luxury, especially on the deck with its gorgeous view and comfortable furnishings. In short, this unit measures up to being a "paradise in paradise." While the facility could not be better, there is an additional "luxury" not found in any of the nearby units as the owner has a charming and knowledgeable local person who greets you on arrival and is always available to answer questions, provide advice which runs the gamut from locating local farmers' markets to suggesting medical resources, really almost any question that pops up during the stay. She makes an already amazing place into a personalized retreat."

  • Another amazing vacation in paradise

"This was our second stay at Donna's beautiful home in paradise. Our first trip in October 2014 was with another couple, no kids, and we had an amazing time. This time we had two couples, two adult children and our toddler. Once again, our stay could not have been better. This home is beautifully decorated and the views are amazing. It is conveniently located right next to the amenity center and pool, which was great for our little one who wanted to swim every day. The highlight as always was the use of the Mauna Kea and Hapuna hotels and their beaches. Our son loved his first time swimming in the beautiful ocean at Mauna Kea! We had an amazing time at the beach, the pool, and just spending time on the lanai having family dinners watching the sunset and the Fourth of July fireworks. Donna and Marcie make renting this home easy, and even provide you with a bottle of wine as a welcome gift. The home had a pack-n-play and highchair for our son, as well as beach and pool toys. We could not have asked for more. As usual, we were sad to leave when our week was over. We are already looking forward to our next trip to the beautiful Wai Ula Ula!"

  • Great Place, Great Price

"We spent 5 days here and it worked perfectly for our family of five. The kitchen had great amenities and the bedrooms and living areas were very nice. We were always on the go so didn't spent much time there during the daytime and we didn't use the pool area, but it was nice to come "home" in the evenings to a nice comfortable condo instead of a small hotel room. There were beach towels for us to use and beach toys for the kids to use. My daughters used the boogie boards which worked well for them. They also used the buckets and other sand toys at the beach. It was also great to have a washer and dryer in the condo. We would definitely stay here again if we ever get back to the Big Island. Also, I can't say enough good things about the team at the management company. We got in late and had to check out a little late as well and they were very accommodating. Overall, a great experience from the condo itself to the customer service. Would recommend for a family of 5 or 6 or would also work well for 2 couples."

  • Marvelous Mauna Kea Resort, Kumalani Favorite

"This was our third time at Mauna Kea Resort and second at Kumalani. This unit has upgraded finishes, well stocked kitchen, wonderful lanai and tile floors in main living ares which is so nice at the beach. Beds are very comfortable and linens high quality. It was nice to have the extra space in den. Views are spectacular. Kumalani is very quiet and serene neighborhood and the access to the two best beaches on island, the less touristy, more country club residential vibe and the great views afforded by how resort built along coast and golf courses makes Mauna Kea our favorite resort on Hawaii. Similar to Kapalua on Maui. We always get the access package to use the hotel facilities, worth the money for charging lunch on beach, access to parking and facilities and chairs/umbrellas at the beach but know that you will need to be at the beach to stake your claim on chairs early in the day. Both Hapuna and Mauna Kea beach are wonderful but there is just something magical and always less crowded at Mauna Kea. Management company professional and welcoming and does good job in maintaining, stocking and cleaning unit. Quick to respond to emails and phone calls. Plenty of cleaning supplies, paper goods and basic spices for cooking were available along with beach mats and beach towels plus some beach toys. Check in and out quick and easy. Waimea is less than 20 minutes with two grocery stores and many charming shops and excellent restaurants. We also like Cafe Pesto and Blue Dragon less than three miles away at the harbor and be sure to get fresh fish to grill at Da Fish House. Would highly recommend this unit if staying at Mauna Kea."
