Recent Villages at Mauna Lani reviews

  • Enjoyed our stay

"Well appointed unit with high end appliances and furniture. All the tools we needed for cooking, barbecue, and trips to the beach. This unit provides more quality gear at no additional charge than others we have rented in Mauna Lani. Jeff and Suzanne were very responsive via email to questions that arose during our stay (ie, bike lock combination, etc). When we were at the unit, lots of time was spent lounging on the wonderful lanai. When the weather conditions are just right, guests have peek-a-boo views of the water and even Maui from there. Views of the Kohala mountains are fantastic. The HVAC system was extremely responsive when the unit needed cooling quickly. Well built construction meant we did not hear the guests renting the next door unit (one shared wall). However, unlike units directly on the golf course (or similar situations), there is a street (inner complex only) that runs right below the lanai and noise from engine revving cars or talkative pedestrians will carry up to the lanai, but fortunately that is infrequent. Close proximity to Foodland and the Mauna Lani shops are a plus for walking or riding the bikes and staying out of the car. And since the unit sits at the far end of the Villages complex, you don't hear any noise associated with the shops. We went as a family of 5, but this house would work well for three couples traveling together. Each bedroom has its own bathroom, as well as comfortable beds. Having the electronic door lock provided further convenience as there was no need to pass a door key amongst the family. We would certainly stay at the Sunset Villa again."

  • The Best Renter Experience Ever

"I have been renting in Hawaii for the last 10 years or so, yet this is my first review. Booking was extremely easy, I like the availability calendar feature on the website, since everything I do is last minute it speeds the process. When I booked I mentioned we were celebrating my mother's 88th birthday as a throw away comment. On the day of our arrival I got a text welcoming us, it was incredibly detailed on how to get to the property and more importantly how to get in the gated community after hours. When we opened the door balloons and a birthday lei along with a gift basket were waiting for my mother, nice touch. The air conditioning was also turned on so the house would be cool for our arrival. The house was perfect for 7 people. The furnishings were more or less new and in good condition. The lanai had a pool and hot tub. All the appliances were top end and the ice maker worked. The property was immaculate, had plenty of towels, detergent and bleach for the washer and condiments/spices in the kitchen. The garage had bikes and beach toys. In a nutshell, this was the nicest, most user friendly place we ever rented. Kudos to Diana from the reality company for making our experience on the big island a happy one."

  • The property was very comfortable, spacious and clean.

"Our stay was very enjoyable. The property was very clean and well equipped. The barbecue and dining area "al fresco" was a bonus. We were a family of 5 and the space at the property was generous. We were able to enjoy each other without feeling cramped. It may have been nicer to stay closer to the beach but we found a shortcut through the Lava Tube historic site and it was a very comfortable walk to the Mauna Lani Beach. Access to two bikes also helps to get around without using the car in the Mauna Lani area. The beach was good for swimming and it was easy to get something to eat at the location and spend a nice day snorkelling and swimming. The walking trail to the Petroglyph area (past the hotel) was terrific. We saw more than 10 turtles lazing around and took great photos. The shopping centre was nearby and had a good grocery store and several nice restaurants including one that offered vegetarian food. Distances on the island demand that one drives a great deal but the location of the Mauna Lani makes it all accessible. We travelled to the Waipio valley in an hour, took Saddle Road to the volcano in approximately two hours and a trip to the Kona area was an hour. Finally, the beaches to the north such at Hapuna and Mauna Kai were very accessible. All in all, the location proved to be quite central. I would recommend a stay at this property. Happy holidays!"

  • Nice property, good location, well maintained.

"Second time staying at this property. Well-maintained, good location, or convenient to a lot of different areas. No complaints with overall stay except a few little items which came up and were dealt with by the management."
