  • All the comforts of home

"This was our first trip to Kauai and were very impressed with this condo. The pictures and description's of the unit were very accurate and actually don't show how spacious and nice the unit is in person. Additionally, we found the condo to be well equipped with everything that we needed-and then some- to have a great vacation. The property and grounds are well maintained and everyone from the staff working the grounds to the folks that are lucky enough to live there full time, were welcoming and helpful. This condo is in a great location that allows for easy access to all sides of the island all while being able to walk to the beach, restaurants and shops. We spent our mornings snorkeling at the beach across the street, explored the island during the day and circled back to cook dinner at the condo, finishing out the night watching the sunset at the beach across the street. The owner was very easy to work with, provided detailed instructions and returned our deposit shortly after we returned home. I would recommend this condo/owner to anyone that is going to Kauai and looking for reasonably priced accommodations that offer all of the comforts of home. We had such a great time that we are already planning our trip for next year and will definitely be scheduling it around the availability of this condo."

  • Wonderful and private little home.

"My family and I just spent a week in Kauai, and stayed in Herb and Gale's Royal Palm Villa. The unit is tucked in the back of the "Hideaway Cove" units, so it was slightly difficult to find at first, but gave my family a lot of privacy. I LOVE that this home had air conditioning. We stayed in Maui for a week in a beautiful home without air conditioning, and it was a terrible experience. The kitchen is fully stocked with cooking and dining accoutrements (my parents complained a little that there wasn't a rice cooker), and there is a laundry facility behind the unit. It is walking distance to Poipu Beach, however parking at the beach is not difficult at all. Gale was so helpful in helping me book a scuba and boat tour of the Na Pali coast (which I highly recommend...but definitely take your dramamine!). Overall, this was a wonderful experience. Thank you Herb and Gale for being such wonderful hosts."

  • Kauai- Makahuena Property 58638

"We (family of 4) stayed at the Makahuena, Poipu condo for 7 days. We enjoyed the stay and the property greatly. Everything was in order when we arrived and Lea met us and showed us around and gave us information on beaches and eating places close to the condo. She was very helpful. The beds are very comfortable. No A/C but not needed- a very nice breeze at night makes it comfortable. The condo is on the third floor, which makes it nice for the great view of the ocean. Coffee on the porch is great. The condo is stocked with everything you might need- first aid kit, snorkling gear, boogie boards, towels, pots/pans, dishes, cutlery, zip locks, spices, cable TV, internet- everything. The grounds are very well maintained. The pool is cleaned every morning and the landscaping is manicured. We did not see any bugs or other critters. We felt "at home" here immediately. Kauai is such a beautiful island. We would like to return every year to this condo. No complaints to report!"

  • Great Value compared to a hotel

"Best view ever, if you want to literally be across the street from theo beach, this is the home to rent. We normally have stayed at the big hotel Down the street and have paid a lot per room. This place has a way better view, you also have 2 good size bedrooms and bathrooms. A great kitchen with everything in it. They have thought of everything for providing guest, such as great tommy Bahama beach chairs, beach towels, umbrella, kids toys etc. the yard is huge, and is fenced which would be good for families. We loved the hot tub on the deck. It also had a huge BBQ. We walked to several restauraunts that were close by. It was wonderful being across from poipu beach. Nice to have your washer /dryer. The only thing that we would of liked to of seen in our opinion was " air conditioning". We were there on a week that there were little trade winds and temps in the high 80s and the house was uncomfortablly hot day and night.maybe on a typical kaui windy day, it would be ok. We also didn't find the beds to be that comfortable ( it's a firm mattress). In the non master bedroom, the twin or full size bed was kind of short for my dad that is 5'10 unless his head was touching the baseboard. The house was very clean, and we loved the bowl of treats the owners give to guest. Wifi worked well enough, it slowed a bit at night in back bedroom, but nothing major. Cable tv was good. We enjoyed the deck each day, (wish there had been a ceiling fan on it,and a recliner chair), but the table and chairs that are on it were comfy. We enjoyed seeing the large toads in the yard each night. The people and cars in front of the house were quiet despite it being on a residential street. We hope to back the next time we go to kaui!"
