"Love this island every time we come back. Such a beautiful place, almost didn't go home after our holiday...
We stayed for a total of 11 nights. Had up to 6 people staying in the place at one time (Wendy was very accommodating), though most of the time it was less than that. Even with 6, it still felt very roomy. Fully equipped kitchen and living room, including a coffee maker that was integral to some mornings. :)
Super close to everything "downtown" Haleiwa, 10 minute walk max to most of the stores. But also not too busy since you're off the main road. There was a bit of traffic in front of the house, but nothing that bothered us (we are city folk though). Lots of great coffee places, restaurants, surf shops etc in Haleiwa. It is a bit touristy, but it's hard to escape that. You face the harbor, cool to see all the boats going in and out. And a 30 second walk to the beach, which was probably the best part. Great for surfing, lots of locals that go there, does get a bit busy when the wave's good. There's a nice park there too, picnics or sports or anything else that suits your fancy.
Lots of great hikes around as well, we did several. One out by the NW airport (gliding was also really cool!), bunch around the east coast, and a bunch more down in the SE quadrant of the island. There is a bit of driving involved, but you can make a day out of the trips, just avoid rush hour times. Can also recommend Hanauma Bay for snorkeling, or even scuba if you have your own gear / rent some.
After every day it was always nice coming back to this awesome house though, it did feel very much like a home away from home. Cook up some dinner or head into Haleiwa for dinner, relax around the house after a "hard" days work, and pass out in comfy beds, ready to wake up and repeat the next day.
One small note though, and you get this wherever you stay on the North Shore, there's a lot of feral roosters. And they start early. Best to bring earplugs. ;)"
