  • Wonderful location and gorgeous condo, a bit noisy

"LOCATION: perfect. Right on a beach great for snorkeling/swimming and turtle watching, with easy access to surfing spots throughout Haleiwa. Far enough from town to feel remote, not touristy, with beautiful surrounding parks and adjacent beaches. Didn't perceive any safety issues. CONDO: gorgeous. Impeccably clean (and I'm fussy!) with high end decor and great kitchen stuff. We cooked every meal in the condo. Soft sheets and plenty of fluffy towels. They were so kind to leave snorkel masks (clean!), beach chairs and dedicated beach towels. SMALL CRITICISMS: the bedroom adjoins the parking lot and has no ocean view, so we made up the comfortable futon in the living room. It was great for the two of us, but might be a bit uncomfortable for larger groups. The bathroom in the bedroom was small but lovely. The 2nd bath was somewhat small but easily usable and, again, beautifully remodeled. NOT A PROBLEM: no air conditioning. We loved the breezy December temperature and used fans for total comfort. The screen door onto the patio doesn't lock (neither does the back bedroom door), but we didn't tell the owners while we were there, so not a legit complaint. We felt safe, though it was a bit disconcerting to have a couple of residents walk by right outside the unit, which is ground floor. Not a big deal. MAJOR ISSUE: the parking lot noise made it impossible to sleep in the adjacent bedroom. People weren't loud partiers, but with windows open, every footstep and car could be heard. We slept in the living room facing the ocean, and were "serenaded" by a crowing rooster every morning from 4:30 - 5:30 am and occasionally at other times. We're early risers, so not a huge deal, but expect to be awakened by the pretty rooster immediately outside the ground floor unit behind a chain link fence. The chickens weren't a problem, nor were the many beautiful wild birds. We could, however, hear every neighbor as they moved furniture (probably futons converted to beds at night). OWNERS: lovely. Never intrusive, always immediately responsive. They seem to take real pride in maintaining this unit and accommodating guest needs. This is worth an extra star! Overall, for our needs, we may try to find a quieter spot, maybe a house. But this condo is a great value for the location and how beautiful and well maintained it is."

  • Best location one could ask for!

"This location is excellent! With a rental car, you can get to downtown Honalulu in 25 mins, Turtle Bay in 10 mins, the PCC in 30 mins, and the dole factory in 10 mins. Haleiwa is definitely a cool little town with tons to do. The beach is excellent and the water is great for snorkeling, swimming, or paddle boarding. There are also some great hikes around if you talk to the locals. I did not rate this 5 stars because a few things they could improve in the unit itself. This is the 3rd level of a 3 level condo, meaning that you got the heat from the lower units plus the heat from the sun bearing down on your unit all day. There is no A/C. Our first few days were pleasant (regarding temperature) but the end of the week became really hot. Our unit was pushing 90 degrees, and as the week went on we continually became more sunburned. The unit provides many fans, but it did not solve the problem. We were keeping cold frozen towels on us to just cool down at night, and it was very rough to sleep. The couch in the unit slumps in the middle and is very uncomfortable to sit on for more than 30 minutes. The bed gave me some major back problems, but got better soon after I returned home. The shower heads are 5 feet high. So if you are a tall person, you will find it very difficult to wash your hair. These things are not too big of a deal, as you can live with those small inconveniences for a short period of time. All in all, we loved it! Bitsy was great to work with and was very quick to respond to emails. If they simply put a window AC in the bed room, I would easily rate this place 5 stars. Thank you for our great stay, and if the AC issue was fixed, I would refer everyone I know to this unit. Aloha!"

  • perfect Hawaiian home away from home!

"We stayed for a week in June and felt right at home. The unit is comfy, clean and quiet. Sharks Cove is right across the street and everything we needed for the beach and snorkeling was provided. Our son had such a great time swimming with all the fish and turtles and we all enjoyed the beautiful weather and gorgeous sunsets each night. Laundry room is very convenient and kitchen is well equipped. We were able to walk to the grocery store when we needed and to the food trucks which are a lot of fun to try and yummy! Waimea is very close as well as Sunset Beach if you want a change of scenery. So much better than Waikiki-no big resorts or expensive shops...just good times at the ocean with lots of families and locals. We even got to know the family in the upstairs unit and shared a nice BBQ dinner one evening. We would love to come back some day and stay again!!!! Thank you Michelle for making it so easy and for the wonderful home to stay in on our vacation!!!!"

  • North Shore Paradise

"Can't say enough about this place. Perfect location on Sunset Point. My visit was with wife, baby and my parents... we all fit comfortably, all had a blast walking/biking/surfing and exploring the North Shore... but especially enjoyed just laying around, relaxing and enjoying the view - be it from the living room, the patio, the hammock or the loungers. WOW! I cooked dinner nearly every night on the lava grill and we had ohana style family dinner outside on the patio. So nice - 6 Star. Thank you Sebastyen!"
