  • Excellent choice for family vacation!

"This home worked perfectly for our family, two daughters, spouses and one grandson. It has three separate sleeping areas for privacy as well as several comfy spots to relax inside and out. The large dining table was great for family meals and games, and the large, open kitchen nearby was fun to cook in, too. It's a pleasant walk to the beach or there are handy parking spaces nearby if you want to get there more quickly. We also enjoyed being able to see the grazing horses close by and our grandson had fun feeding them apples and carrots. We hope to be able to enjoy this property in future years."

  • Perfect Getaway!

"We stayed here for a girls getaway from Chicago. It was such a relaxing weekend thanks to the Sawyer House. The owners were prompt in their responses throughout the entire booking experience. The amenities are amazing and the house is exquisitely remodeled. We cooked dinner the first night and the kitchen was stocked with all of our necessary cooking needs. The location is fantastic, easy to access off the highway and close to local restaurants, including our favorite Greenbush Brewery. Our second night we walked down the street to Mesa Luna, a local restaurant, which was the perfect end to a great weekend. If you're looking for a getaway close to Chicago with family or friends, during any season, I highly recommend staying here! Thank you for giving all of us hard-working moms a weekend break."

  • Enjoyable women's getaway!

"This vacation rental is in a very quiet neighborhood with a short trip to the beach. Home has comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen, wonderful patio area with comfortable furniture, extra upper deck with outdoor shower, 2 living/gathering rooms and updated bathrooms. The shed had numerous beach chairs, bikes and other items to help make a vacation fun for families. This group appreciated having 10 beds. Owners supplied a large variety of essentials and that was a definite plus. Having golf Cart was also a plus. Thanks Liz"

  • Winter Wonderland

"We arrived at the Birchwood cabin on a snowy winter evening, what a surprise to be greeted by a shoveled drive and small lighted Christmas tree. Ian, the owner, checked in soon after to make sure we arrived safely and we had everything we needed. He told us wonderful stories of the origins of the cabin and of Michiana Shores. The cabin is perfect place for two people to escape from the rest of the world. We went into New Buffalo and ate at the Bentwood Tavern - a place I had never been to in all my visits to the area. The food and service were great and the sky was full of snowflakes on the drive back. After a wonderful night's sleep, we awoke to 6 deer outside the bedroom window. No visit to southwestern Michigan is complete without a meal at the Stray Dog Bar and Grill. The food was wonderful (the fish taco's are the best!) and the staff was so helpful and friendly. We stopped at Barney's for supplies for our evening meal and headed back to the Birchwood cabin. Bundled up against the cold, we took the short walk to the beach, crossing from Indiana into Michigan on the way. The roar of the waves got louder as we neared the entrance to the beach, the power of Lake Michigan in the winter is truly amazing. We spent the evening sitting in front of the fire. The kitchen is well equipped with anything you might need. We made a huge salad and homemade pizza and wrapped in a cozy throw, I must admit I dozed on the couch in front of the fire. It was a splendid day. The Birchwood cabin is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of your everyday life, especially in winter. I would love to see Michiana Shores alive in the summer. We may just have to plan that trip soon. I would highly recommend that you do the same."
