  • Absolutely Perfect

"My husband and our two kids and our friends and their two kids just returned from a wonderful mini vacation in Michigan City. This rental is absolutely perfect! We stayed on the main level and even with 4 adults and 4 kids there still seemed to be ample room to rest and relax. This place was nice, very clean and well stocked with everything we could possibly need. The kitchen had every utensil imaginable, plenty of dishes and lots of pots and pans. There is a washer and dryer in the basement for which we were grateful to be able to wash our beach towels and swimsuits before making the drive home. If we weren't on the beach or eating, we could find our kiddos in the basement having a blast playing ping-pong. Don't worry about packing beach equipment because they have you covered... there are extra beach towels, life jackets, tons of beach toys and rafts and beach chairs, and even a couple of kayaks. We truly enjoyed every moment of our stay and we all feel it was definitely too short! My family and I don't vacation very often but we are hoping to make this trip again in the future. I communicated with the owner mostly by email and she was such a huge help, answering all my questions and even gave lots of suggestions. Jill, thank you so much for sharing your place with us! I think it's a gem and look forward to staying again sometime!"

  • Clean, quaint and perfect!

"For those looking for a small cottage within a short walking distance of the beach, this is great! The cottage itself is a bit dated, but it has been nicely kept and renovated with current technology and comforts. Yes, the houses in this area are close together, but I never felt as if my privacy was being invaded. This is a nice property, as it sits off the road (giving it more privacy and quiet ambiance) and has a small yard with a fire pit and plenty of space for a pet. It also includes off-street parking, which is a major plus! The listing says that it is "parking for two," although I would question that depending on what type of vehicle you drive. Two sedans could fit in this space, but I'm not so sure about two vans. Some things to consider when renting: 1. The cottage has a full kitchen with many tools, dishes and what-nots to help you prepare meals. 2. While there are plastic blinds on the bedroom windows, there are no curtains or shades. There are shades in the living and dining area, but they are shear. This is great for brightening up the room. However, for people like me who prefer a much darker room when sleeping, you may want to think about ways to help you avoid this problem. 3. Within walking distance of the property is a big park and the Michigan City Zoo. Also within the park is a nice splash water park for cooling off. (Please check operating times before going.) 4. The beach was wonderful. Our family visited in August and the water was cool and clean. Locals and vacationers in this area were very pleasant. I would definitely recommend this property to renters."

  • Excellent Price for the Location, Perfect for our family

"Every year, my wife and I travel to Michigan City, with my my parents, to enjoy the dunes, the world class beaches and the the amazing sunsets. For the past 5 years, we have rented a cottage in the Beachwalk resort community. This year however, the price of our usual cottage almost doubled, and we were forced to look elsewhere. In retrospect, I am glad we did. This condo was perfect for the four of us, and it was as affordable as it was cozy. The decor was nice, everything was very clean, and it had everything we needed. Most importantly, this property's location was absolutely perfect—close to Washington Park, the zoo, downtown, and less than a 5 minute walk to a beautiful, quiet, sandy beach. We also really enjoyed the nice patio area out back which allowed us a place to congregate while listening to the waves and to enjoy the last days of summer. There is seating for six out there, along with a gas grill and an outdoor shower to keep the beach out of the unit There was a small issue with the plumbing, that the owners resolved as soon as they were aware of it. Very responsive and apologetic. Furthermore, when we needed to reschedule our vacation due to our daughter being injured, the owner's were willing to do so, no questions asked. We were very impressed with their willingness to accommodate us. If you have a small group of adults, or are a small family with teenagers looking to get a few days away, close to the gems that are Lake Michigan the Indiana Dunes, this property is highly recommended."

  • Beautiful apartment near a lovely beach!

"This little apartment is a gem! I spent a week here to change up my usual Chicago-based workaday routine, and found it had everything I could possibly want: it was very comfy, SO thoughtfully equipped, and immaculately clean. The beach really is steps away (just out the door, go left OR right, and walk up the dune). And though it technically sleeps just 2 people -- and I'd not recommend it for more than that for longer stays, as the space is not large -- I had some friends come down for just a night and was able to pull out the couch so they could stay over too. Check-in was effortless, and the owner was super responsive to any questions I had, even last minute. She also provided some great recommendations for places to eat in the immediate vicinity, and they were all excellent. Michigan City doesn't boast as much to do as some of the "harbor country" sites further north (in Michigan proper), but for convenience to Chicago (I commuted to work from here several days of my stay), a great beach, and gorgeous sunsets, it made the perfect escape-from-the-city for me...and this reasonably priced and beautifully maintained apartment was the ideal place to stay while there."
