  • Another awesome vacation

"My family and I had another great vacation at the Pineapple Retreat! We couldn't believe it had already been 5 years since we had been there before and we don't know why we waited so long. The house is SO nice. They provide everything you might need including a wagon, stroller, booster seat, beach bag, beach blanket, movies, you name it! We enjoyed the pool a lot! The kiddie pool was great for my toddler. The beach is a 5 minute walk away. And we also enjoyed the Washington Park Zoo that is a 3 minute drive, if that. Thank you, again!"

  • Absolutely Perfect

"My husband and our two kids and our friends and their two kids just returned from a wonderful mini vacation in Michigan City. This rental is absolutely perfect! We stayed on the main level and even with 4 adults and 4 kids there still seemed to be ample room to rest and relax. This place was nice, very clean and well stocked with everything we could possibly need. The kitchen had every utensil imaginable, plenty of dishes and lots of pots and pans. There is a washer and dryer in the basement for which we were grateful to be able to wash our beach towels and swimsuits before making the drive home. If we weren't on the beach or eating, we could find our kiddos in the basement having a blast playing ping-pong. Don't worry about packing beach equipment because they have you covered... there are extra beach towels, life jackets, tons of beach toys and rafts and beach chairs, and even a couple of kayaks. We truly enjoyed every moment of our stay and we all feel it was definitely too short! My family and I don't vacation very often but we are hoping to make this trip again in the future. I communicated with the owner mostly by email and she was such a huge help, answering all my questions and even gave lots of suggestions. Jill, thank you so much for sharing your place with us! I think it's a gem and look forward to staying again sometime!"

  • Fabulous Vacation Homes

"We rented both homes for a family vacation with our grown children, their spouses and our grandkids and had an absolutely fantastic week! The community of Beachwalk is very charming...colorful 3 story homes, very walkable, a small lake for fishing, kayaking, etc., a community pool, a small cafe and more. This home is a very short walk to a beautiful stretch of beach on Lake Michigan. Both homes are outstanding! Everything you would ever need is available, including a kids wagon to go back and forth to the beach and the pool. We enjoyed both the screened in porch and the open air porch every single day! We loved the fact that the kitchen was large enough to seat our whole family for meals and games. We used the second table in the kitchen to do a 1000 piece puzzle. There is a ping pong table in the basement that we used for a family ping pong tournament. The HouseofKells is very spacious and allowed for family members to spread out and have their own rooms and space for all sorts of activities. The CelticKnot was perfect for our son and daughter-in-law who have two very small children. They were able to put the babies down for a nap & early to bed without interruption from the rest of us. The two homes are connected, which made it very easy for them to go back and forth between homes. Kate was fabulous and was very quick to answer my questions before our stay. She was very easy to work with and very accessible. We LOVED our stay and would highly recommend it!"

  • Clean, quaint and perfect!

"For those looking for a small cottage within a short walking distance of the beach, this is great! The cottage itself is a bit dated, but it has been nicely kept and renovated with current technology and comforts. Yes, the houses in this area are close together, but I never felt as if my privacy was being invaded. This is a nice property, as it sits off the road (giving it more privacy and quiet ambiance) and has a small yard with a fire pit and plenty of space for a pet. It also includes off-street parking, which is a major plus! The listing says that it is "parking for two," although I would question that depending on what type of vehicle you drive. Two sedans could fit in this space, but I'm not so sure about two vans. Some things to consider when renting: 1. The cottage has a full kitchen with many tools, dishes and what-nots to help you prepare meals. 2. While there are plastic blinds on the bedroom windows, there are no curtains or shades. There are shades in the living and dining area, but they are shear. This is great for brightening up the room. However, for people like me who prefer a much darker room when sleeping, you may want to think about ways to help you avoid this problem. 3. Within walking distance of the property is a big park and the Michigan City Zoo. Also within the park is a nice splash water park for cooling off. (Please check operating times before going.) 4. The beach was wonderful. Our family visited in August and the water was cool and clean. Locals and vacationers in this area were very pleasant. I would definitely recommend this property to renters."
