  • Spotless

"We appreciate the owners' due diligence in answering questions as we were arranging our visit, and the caretaker Sharon's obvious hard work in keeping it spotless. Very nice house, fully equipped. The location left a bit to be desired however as we ended up doing more driving/less walking than hoped. (Note: The next town over of Blue Hill is a charmer.) Many thanks for making the house available to us on short notice."

  • Even Better than Expected!

"These pictures cannot capture how nice this cottage is! It provided the perfect base for an Acadia visit with all the comforts of home for us, a couple with one child (easily could’ve accommodated another child or 2). Wendy keeps this place IMMACULATE and stocked with EVERYTHING you might need, even baking supplies, 2 coffee grinders, lobster pot, toiletries, books, board games & lots of DVDs though we never turned on the TV. We were welcomed with a nice basket of Maine goodies, including 2 different coffees: thoughtful touch! The bedrooms are roomy, both w/closets & dressers. 1.5 bathrooms = no waiting. The mattresses in both rooms were comfy & seemed fairly new (older noisy/lumpy mattresses are sometimes an issue in rentals). People who haven’t visited coastal ME worry about not having AC. In our 20 years of renting here, this has never been an issue, and this house has lots of new windows to let in the cool, almost constant ocean breeze. The living room is large for the size of the cottage with comfy seating for about 8, surrounded by a wall of windows facing the East Bay. The whole cottage is light and airy in beachy whites and vibrant cottage colors. For those sensitive to ME’s (very) early and late summer sunrise/sunset, the bedroom windows have shades plus darkening curtains. Few places we’ve rented have thought to do this: great idea! The location is convenient to MDI & Acadia NP while allowing a quiet base to “get away from it all.” You could easily spend your time relaxing here & enjoying spots within walking distance: Lamoine beach and SP, a local swimming pond (warmer water) & your own rocky shore. Rent kayaks from a local vendor who can deliver to the cottage. Enjoy the ocean views from all the outdoor seating on the sunny, mown lawn: lounge chairs, picnic table or a small table on a deck just outside the back door. Take time to watch for bald eagles, seals and other wildlife that come through on a daily basis; binoculars provided. Barbecue or at night, make a fire and stargaze. As others have mentioned, Ellsworth is a short drive to stores and laundry if needed. Adding a washer/dryer might be the only suggestion we could make for improvement, since most air travelers will pack fewer clothes than possibly needed for the week’s stay. Wendy and Mike clearly care about their guests' comfort & were responsive to communications. They’re bound to get lots of repeat guests & we hope to be among them. Thanks for a great stay!"

  • charming historic cottage

"We had a perfect week in Brooklin. The historic house is utterly charming. Brooklin is pretty remote, and the place has no internet, and no TV. For us, though, all those things were a plus. We enjoyed the wonderful relaxed quiet of the house, its extensive library and game collection, the piano, the beach (a prime spot for hunting sea glass!) and, perhaps especially, the porch, where I spent many hours reading and drinking coffee. We explored Deer Isle, had pizza and pastries at Tinder Hearth, did some book shopping in Blue Hill, but mostly we read and skipped rocks and swam. A delightful week. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us. We very much hope to return!"

  • What a View !!!

"My husband and I stayed at Sea Meadow the second week of Sept. What a wonderful time of year to visit the the Maine coast....warm days and cooler nights. It was so peaceful and relaxing sitting on the deck enjoying the view or walking the shoreline at low tide. We explored the surrounding area and ate fantastic seafood. The cottage was perfect...very clean...and supplied with all the comforts of home. We hope to return next year."
