  • Relaxing Getaway

"My husband and I were looking for a relaxing private getaway this year and Heron Watch was perfect! The property was just amazing and we found it was not really necessary to leave once we got there. We enjoyed the private cove for swimming and kayaking. The yard was expansive and there was plenty of room to have yard games set up or just relax in the awesome Adirondack chairs that are provided. We spent our time exploring around the entire peninsula with our kayaks. Our daughter joined us later into our trip and it was really nice that the house came with two kayaks as well so our daughter was able to explore with us. At night the stars were just amazing however, the lightening bugs put on a pretty impressive show as well. The house is well cared for and very comfortable for a family of 4 or more. The views from every room in the front of the house are just amazing and change with the sun and tide throughout the day. We opened all of the windows and enjoyed the fresh air that flows throughout the house. Deer Isle is a great place to really get away and not be involved with traffic and tourist traps. We would recommend this property to families young and old. There is handicap access as well. By the way, there is a resident heron at Heron Watch. We saw her every day in the grassy area of the cove. We also had a beautiful little song bird that sat on the boat tie near the Adirondacks daily and sang us some lovely tunes as well as a deer that was seen on the property in the early evenings. Magical experience in a hidden gem on Deer Isle."

  • Perfect balance of rustic and convenient in wonderful setting

"The space was well designed to allow cross currents of cooling air, and to bring the family together while offering individual privacy. We loved the books and pictures and specimens collected, which reminded us of our old camp; also loved the hot showers and ample counter space and natural light. Lofty ceilings and mellow wood walls added elegant rusticity. A passel of boys lost themselves on the beach, on the water, in the meadows. We collected the sunsets (different every night) like beautiful beach stones. Everyone wants to come again. Thank you!"

  • One of best vacations ever!

"We loved Acadia National Park! Seamist Cottage was a great home base for us. It's very close to Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse, Wonder Land, and Ship Harbor so you can do easy, beautiful hikes with very little driving. The 30 minute drive to the main part of Acadia National Park was not bad at all - we did it most days. It was so nice to return to our cozy, quiet cottage which was equipped with everything we needed. Robin was very quick to respond to any questions or requests. We would recommend Seamist without reservation, and hope to return someday."
