  • Acadia trip stay at Moss Mountain Cabin

"Great place to stay. Convenient to everything on Mt. Desert Island but quiet and out of the maddening crowds. Very clean, large bedrooms and kitchen filled with everything you need. Would highly recommend!"

  • Take the dog on a great family vacation!

"Spent the week at Rising Sun cottage and had a great time with family. House is beautiful and views are excellent. Lots to do in Bar Harbor and Acadia. Owners Ned and Emily sincerely want their guests to have a great experience and offer great suggestions for activities and restaurants. We hiked and biked Acadia, spent time in Bar Harbor, fished, whale watched, cooked lobsters, and more. It was great to be active in beautiful nature all day and then 'come home' and relax in luxury. And it was great to take our Husky, Juno, on vacation. Bar harbor seems to be THE vacation destination for dogs and dog lovers."

  • Lots of Space in a Quiet Location

"Overall had a nice experience at Deer Cottage. The home is a great size for 6-8. Quiet location just off of Hwy 3. A short drive into town and the park. Large deck with a great yard. Large bedrooms. Kitchen had plenty of dishes and utensils. Lots of space to eat at the island or the table. Laundry in the basement was convenient. Be aware there is no AC which was fine for us and our stay but could be an issue for some. Few things that really could use some improvement. The lighting in the house is dim. Low wattage florescent bulbs everywhere. Hard to see in the bedrooms and bathrooms. As someone else mentioned the mirrors and light fixtures are mounted extremely low. I'm just average height and knocked my head on the bathroom light fixture multiple times leaning over the sink while brushing my teeth. Was also surprised to find only 2 1/2 rolls of toilet paper, 1 roll of paper towels and three trash bags provided at check in. For a large home that easily accommodates eight the property wasn't supplied well. Make sure you bring everything. Finally considering there is a cleaning fee built in to the price you are expected to do a lot of your own cleaning on checkout including washing and putting away all dishes, taking out the trash, stripping beds, starting laundry and sweeping the floors. This is all spelled out in detail in the handbook in the kitchen. I didn't expect daily maid service but I also expected to not have to do half the cleaning on check out."

  • A slice of heaven!

"Our expectations, based on photos and the referral of friends, were exceeded. The property is professionally manicured with a sprawling lawn, gardens, all leading to Frenchmans Bay, a short stroll away to a rocky coastline with pier and fire pit. We felt like we were in a magazine setting. We stayed in the larger Gate House. It was immaculate and gracious, the kitchen equipped with everything from lobster pot to crock pot, screened in porch, lovely outdoor deck with comfy furnishings and table. We were greeted with 3 fresh cut bouquets from the gardens. A property worker brought us tomatoes from her garden. Bar Harbor and an entrance to Acadia are 10-15 minutes away. Great location! Realtor Sally Black was very attentive."
