  • Wonderful apartment, perfect location

"Last week we spent five wonderful days in Bar Harbor/Arcadia National Park experiencing beautiful fall foliage and the tastes and sights of the area. A major contributing factor to our enjoyment was our stay at the Wayfaring Mermaid Suite. I received a quick response from Monique and the booking was seamless. The property was spotless, big full sized appliances with a comfortable bed and thick towels. For us the location was perfect very close to the park entrance and a short drive to town. We have rented many apartments and this is by far one of our favorites. I highly recommend this place and want to thank Joe and Monique for their hospitality."

  • Wonderful Week in MDI!

"My husband and I stayed at Ellen and Curt's house for a week in June. The house was ideal for our needs, with plenty of space and additional amenities like plenty of utensils in the kitchen for cooking. Everything was clean and well managed. We did not wind up making use of the fire pit, the grill, or the canoe, but those are available if you want them. The house is a bit out of the way from some of the bustling areas of MDI, which was a big plus for us. It was quiet and relaxed, but very easy to get around the island from the house. We went on several walks directly from the house, spent many days over in Bar Harbor, went all over Acadia (biked the Carriage Roads, hiked Cadillac and Acadia Mountains, visited Long Pond and Jordan's Pond, and enjoyed Echo Lake and Sand Beach), and also made it to Tremont to visit Thurston's Lobster Pound not once, but twice! There are two bathrooms in the house, but only one upstairs and you have to go through the master bedroom to access it. This isn't a problem at all if you are a couple staying there on your own, but it's something to consider if you have younger kids who might not want to go downstairs in the night to use the bathroom, or if you're planning to share the house with another couple. I'd also note that the house does provide bikes, but they've definitely been used over the years and aren't in the best of shape -- if you plan to do serious biking, I'd recommend bringing your own or planning to rent from one of the many bike shops in Bar Harbor (we did this one day to bike the Carriage Roads). We hope to make it back to MDI soon, and will definitely check to see if this property is available when we return."

  • Great Bar Harbor Stay!

"Our girls getaway was great at the Acadia Getaway House! Nice house layout, private patio and yard, super Weber grill for easy dinners after a day biking, shopping and sightseeing at Acadia National Park. The House is at the perfect location for carriage trails, entrance to Cadillac Mountain and downtown Bar Harbor - nice Catholic Church for Sunday Mass was an added bonus. Owners are easy to work with and very responsive - I would recommend this property for anyone wishing to experience the beauty of Bar Harbor and surrounding areas! It was a perfect week living in a comfortable home surrounded by nature, fresh air, nice people and as much exercise, restaurants and scenic beauty that you could handle!"

  • A lovely retreat

"We stayed in this house for a week in August. The house is gorgeous, much nicer than the pictures on the website. Views are superb, especially the sunsets -- we often ate out on the deck to watch the sunset. Stars were great too, as there is very little light pollution on this part of the island. The bedrooms are roomy, and a spacious bedroom and bath on the first floor was welcome by my aging parents. Several good restaurants are nearby for takeout... not to mention some great hiking trails. Highly recommended!"
