  • Mt. Desert Island/Acadia vacation

"This house was perfect for our long awaited visit to Acadia NP and Mt. Desert Island. You can get anywhere on the island or mainland easily. If you don't want to leave the house there is plenty to do; play pool, bocce ball, walk the garden and grounds, listen to the birds, look for wildlife, watch beautiful sunsets over the water and behind Blue Hill. Judy and Ralph were the perfect hosts. They answered our many questions whether it was about directions, history or meals. They are there if you need them or nonintrusive. We did not want to leave and will go back if we have the opportunity!"

  • They thought of everything!

"This is a beautiful, clean, well stocked suite. My friend and I wanted two beds and this worked out. She had the bedroom and I had a comfortable futon. There is a well stocked kitchen including spices. A dishwasher, dish detergent and every pan you would need. The dining area is comfortable. The seating area is great for relaxing in. There were plenty of fluffy towels in the well stocked bathroom. They even had laundry detergent and dryer sheets provided. The yard has seating where you can watch the hummingbirds in the shade. It is right by a road but due to the fan and a/c you can turn on at night you never hear it. My friend said she didn't even hear it in the bedroom at all. You are right by Acadia and out of the Bar Harbor bus traffic. There is an ice cream place nearby called Udder Heaven you don't want to miss. I suggest getting groceries in Ellsworth on your way to Hummingbird. We stopped at Shaw's and they had a great selection and good prices. We ate breakfast and dinner at our lovely suite and ate big lunches out. It saved us a lot of money. You can buy eggs from Donna and Kevin so no need to pick any up!"

  • Great place to stay

"This was our second stay at Folkstone Cottage (2 successive summers). We have been very pleased with our experience each time. In prior years, we had had a difficult time finding family-friendly accommodations close to Bar Harbor. There are many hotels/motels/ cottages in the area, but we needed space to relax during down-time, and to prepare some of our own meals, due to food allergies. This home is very comfortable, and despite all the great things to do in the area, we frequently found ourselves just "hanging out" at the house because it was so comfortable. While it is a bit "off the beaten path," it is still only 10-15 minutes from Bar Harbor and within walking distance of Atlantic Brewing/Mainely Meats, one of our favorite places to eat. While Maine summers are generally not too hot, be aware that there is no air conditioning, as is true of many (if not most) of the rentals in the area. Numerous fans are provided, and although we had relatively hot weather during our stays, things did generally cool down at night. Lynn and Jeff were very responsive to any minor issues, and all appliances worked well. We will definitely be back for our next trip to Acadia!"

  • Perfect Rental

"The bungalow is perfect in every way. Clean, well appointed, and in a great location. Easy access to the Park and minutes from Bar Harbor. Very quiet beautiful neighbor. Thank you Geoff for making this such a great place for our family vacation. It was nice to walk in and find everything we needed after a long drive from North Carolina."
