  • Heaven on earth!

"Words can't express the beauty waiting for you in Maine! Pictures can't do justice to the breathtaking property and words can't relate what considerate hosts Chelcey and her husband were during our stay at the Rugosa. My family and I loved the convenient location near Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, and the complete privacy of the cottage. We were able to spot porpoises, harbor seals, sea otters, loons, and whitetail deer without even leaving our deck! Our daughters loved exploring the private beach at both low and high tides, and the fire pit was a beautiful location for watching the sun set in the evening. For the kids, the beautiful pool are was a great treat-- even our 5 year old dove off the diving rock into the deep end! What a confidence builder! If you are looking to unplug and relax, and just renew your spirit, this is the property for you!! We are eagerly looking forward to staying here again-- the sooner the better!"

  • Convenient and nicely equipped with supplies

"We had a very pleasant stay on Snow Street. The home is located just outside the village in a quiet residential neighborhood. The village and shore path are easily walkable from the residence. Everything that you need for a comfortable stay are provided by Herb, i.e., sheets, towels, fully equipped kitchen, etc. The cottage is very charming, which I would describe as a 1940-1950's style home that has retained a lot of its old charm. Going to take our last stroll on the shore path before we leave."

  • What a quiet, beautiful, and wonderful place!

"Without a doubt this was a wonderful place to stay (and I agree with a previous poster- the pictures really don't do it justice!) When I was a kid, my family would always visit Mount Desert Island, and I'm glad I had the chance to visit this beautiful property. First- the location is very good. My favorite part was that I could fly into the Bar Harbor airport and be at the house in under ten minutes. It's still a manageable drive to anywhere on the island too. But the location's best asset is the view westward into the bay. The sunsets were amazing, and there was plenty of room for exploring with a beautiful terraced garden. Each room in the house is designed to look out on the water (the view from the Master Bedroom is great). There is a deck facing westward that was wonderful for grilling too. The house had high ceilings and beautiful wooden walls. As a house it can easily fit eight. There's a room downstairs with TV and a few couches, which are good for lazy nights after hiking, biking, or kayaking. The house is about ten minutes from the town of Somesville, and a little more than twenty minutes by car to Bar Harbor. All the Acadia sights are an easy drive. So it's close enough to everything on the island while remaining it's quiet charm. Since moving south it's gotten harder to make it to Mount Desert Island, but I"m hoping to make it next year."

  • Beautiful home in a great location!

"DeeDee was a wonderful host from when we first booked to the end of our stay. She made sure we had everything we needed and was very good with communication as well. The apartment was very clean and well kept, It felt brand new. It's in a great location, just a short 5 minute walk to downtown Bar Harbor and a 15 min drive to Acadia park. If we came back to Bar Harbor we would love to stay here again :)"
