  • A lovely time

"The house is VERY well situated and has everything we needed. We visited in late September and the weather was getting cool, we enjoyed the fireplace. The home was spotless. We enjoyed the following - Bike rental for a nice tour of the carriage trails - You can access the trails from the bike rental shop - Walked the Ocean path - Hiked Cadillac mountain (south ridge up and down to enjoy the view) - Ate out at Bistro Mache - a little expensive but very good - Rosalie's pizza was excellent"

  • Fabulous House!

"We loved this house, and would recommend it for so many reasons. My favorite spot was the deck off the kitchen. Wine in hand, we snacked and chatted there every night, watching the sun go down. It's the epitome of relaxation. We cooked for ourselves most nights, as our days were so full of hiking and sightseeing. The kitchen has everything you'd want. Five of us shared the house, but it's huge and never felt crowded. Lots of space downstairs for everyone to watch the game or whatever is on TV. We stayed for five nights - which was perfect. There are many things to do and see. The island is small, so it's a short drive to get anywhere, but we loved that the house felt remote. It's on the "quiet side" of the island. From the house, you can walk down to a little path that's part of the nature preserve, reaching the shore within 30 minutes at most. The shady trails looked like fairies could pop out at any moment. There are many other trails close by, and the beautiful Echo Lake is just minutes away. We enjoyed a lobster dinner at Beal's Lobster Pier in Southwest Harbor, but my favorite meal was lobster rolls at Thurston's Lobster Pound down in Bernard at the tip of the western part of the island. Don't hesitate. This is a terrific place to stay."

  • Perfect Spot for Acadia

"We had a great week here. The house is comfortable, well equipped and full of extras. Just far enough from the crowds and close enough to everyplace we wanted to visit. Fall colors were at their peak and we could have just stayed in the house all week and had a fine time in the yard and on the deck. Judy and Ralph are perfect hosts. Michael and Barbara"

  • perfectly peaceful & beautiful

"My boyfriend and I stayed in Rugosa cottage with our dog in late October. It was the perfect location for a peaceful, restful getaway. The cottage was a very short drive to Acadia Park and downtown Bar Harbor, both of which we loved exploring during the daytime. The cottage was the perfect place to get cozy, watch a movie and recharge for the next day's adventures. We also LOVED starting and ending our days around the fire pit on the property. The views of sunset from the private beach were beautiful. Chelcey does a fabulous job of anticipating her guests needs, the cottage was well equipped with the simple details that made the trip all the more enjoyable -- table and chairs on the deck, extra blankets, easy to find cooking utensils and food containers, guide books etc. I couldn't have been happier that we found her cottage for our last minute getaway and would love to return. We had a great time in October, but I'd also love to return in warmer weather, the private beach seems like be the perfect place to launch a paddle board or kayak."
