  • Perfect!

"We chose to come to Maryland from Ohio on a whim for an elopement. We wanted a quiet and beautiful place on the bay and we lucked out finding this gem! We stayed in the Jelly Fish House, it is brand new and gorgeous, just what you would imagine for a beach house. We spent a lot of time relaxing on the dock and in the hammock looking at the beautiful views and sunsets. My three boys had a ball fishing, jumping in the water from the dock and catching blue crabs-we had never seen those before!! We definitely had three teary-eyed boys when it was time to leave. We had a magical weekend! We wouldn't have changed a thing and would love to come back. Jacque and Patrick were fantastic!"

  • Beautiful and quiet

"Bob and Cathy were more than gracious with their home and property. We enjoyed using the pool and kayak and Cathy even brought over some baked goodies as a gift. Lovely, private room. We enjoyed going for a walk/run in the mornings and seeing the many bunnies and other wildlife that inhabit the area. Room was very clean and everything was as expected. Wonderful hosts."

  • Wonderful time in a beautiful setting

"We rented Ransome's Chesapeake Retreat for a family reunion. We had 20 adults and 15 children, ages 22 months thru 15. Everyone had a great time. The setting was great. There was lots of land to explore, crabs to be caught, wildlife to see, ships to watch, a screened in porch to sit and catch up, and a pool. The Fun Center was great for the kids. They even put together their own talent show and held the event In the fun center. We did have some problems with the automatic pool vacuum, but the handyman, John answered our questions, stopped over, and got the pool repairman there first thing in the morning. Not many places have such a responsible and nice handyman. He was much appreciated. When planning a reunion with so many people, it is hard to find a place where everyone gets a bed. This was the perfect place. We all had a wonderful time in a beautiful setting. We would recommend this retreat for anyone planning a family reunion."

  • A wonderful combination of old-fashioned charm, modern convenience, and proximity to the Bay.

"Lovely cottage, as described. (Studio rental is separate.) Very comfortable for a couple. Simply but beautifully furnished. Very high quality linens and towels, including beach towels, a really nice touch. Renovated bathroom and kitchen, comfy mattress. Great cable, very reliable internet. An older property but clean and well-maintained, with a huge fenced yard and lots of privacy. Wonderful original artwork on the walls. Gary was a most accommodating and welcoming landlord. He allowed us to bring our two cats, who clearly took no time feeling at home. I would recommend this property to friends or relatives. We walked every morning on the Boardwalk (you get to know all the regulars) and kayaked nearly every day from the West Marina,, one mile away. One of the nicest features of the Seahorse Cottage was access to the tomato and herb garden, of which we made much use. Also loved the weekly Friday evening Farmers Market and the Chesapeake's Bounty produce store, but if you are a cook you may want to bring your own knives and favorite pans. We stayed for three weeks in July/ August."
