  • As good as advertised

"Perfect location just off torch lake on the river, peaceful and quiet. The house is 30ft off the water, made for a perfect campfire setting."

  • Comfy cottage on the shore of Lake Michigan

"My family stayed at this shoreline cottage in May, 2016. The cottage actually sits on a very small parcel of land between Peninsula Drive and the east shoreline of West Traverse Bay. The pictures don't show that this cottage has two decks within 10 feet of the water. You can leave your bedroom door open at night and hear the waves splashing against the shore. Overall, Joe's place is a great location - beautiful sunsets, easy to swim on the beach, have a campfire on the deck, fish from the dock and watch the boats go by. Lots of ducks to watch and an occasional otter swimming by in the morning. The cottage has a screened in front porch - no view, but would be a good outdoor escape when the mosquitoes are biting. There are four rooms in the cottage - two bedrooms, one with a full size bed and one with two twin beds; one bathroom with shower stall; the fourth room is a kitchen/dining/living room. Everything worked fine - gas grill on the deck, all kitchen appliances and cozy little gas fireplace. The cottage is clean and well stocked; Joe even provided coffee. The kitchen is fully equipped, just bring your food. Not sure why the VRBO listed price and the owner's requested price didn't match; we were required to pay more than the listed price. Parking is across the road, but easily to get to. From the road to the front door, there are about ten steps down to the front door, so this place is not for anyone who can't travel stairs. The weather was excellent for our one week stay. Only a 20 minute drive into Traverse City. Lots of good bicycling, winery tours, scenic views and fruit stands on the Peninsula. We enjoyed our vacation."

Our entire family vacation here during the same time and this location could not be any better. We have vacationed here for the last 30 years. This home works perfectly for us. • Beautiful

"Our family could not have picked a more perfect spot for our New Year's get away! The house was easy to find and super close to the ski resorts for us to enjoy. We had 3 families at the house and it was great that we could all have our own bathrooms and floors of the house. We enjoyed the beautiful firepit outside in the evenings, which was incredibly peaceful. Thank you Lisa for being so easy to work with and making this trip perfect! We are already talking about our future plans to book next year! I would recommend this sweet chalet to anybody looking to getaway from their everyday lives!"
