  • Adorable Cottage lives up to it's name of "Cute as the Dickins"

"My husband and I and our two boys (ages 10 and 8) stayed at the Cute as the Dickins Cottage this week. This is an older home with a lot of charm and very well maintained! The decor in the home is like stepping back in time, in a really great way!!! The pictures that the owners have publised on VRBO are spot on! The kitchen was my favorite and I loved looking through the cabinets and exploring all the vintage dishes and tableware. Kym also provided little extra touches, like filling the cookie jar and providing root beer, Coke and vanilla ice cream to welcome you in. The master bedroom was VERY spacious with a great view of the lake, and it was large enough with the bunk beds and a king bed for all 4 of us to stay in that room all week. We used the other bedroom for a two different guests that we had during the week which worked wonderfully as that queen bedroom has it's own bath. The yard is quite large and does provide some shade, there is a fire pit and chairs near the dock where you can also relax and get some sun. The water was warm and clean and the lake has a sandy bottom that is quite shallow for a ways out so it was great for the kids to wade around in. We brought our own double sea kayak and a paddle board and a large flotation device, as well as our fishing boat that we put in and out at the access right up the road, but they also had provided two kayaks and a paddle board for our use. We drove to Saugatuck two different days and went to Lake Michigan to enjoy the big lake and eat out in downtown, our favorite place to eat is Wally's. We also went peach picking just up the road at Crane's and also went blackberry and raspberry picking at Earl's. There are several farmer's markets near by and we took advantage of those as well. If you are looking for a quaint place to stay on a quiet all sports lake to relax with family and friends, check out Cute as the Dickins Cottage for your next vacation."

  • Cozy and Clean Beach Family getaway!

"Our family of 4 was in desperate need of a relaxing family getaway, and Rachel's home was the perfect remedy. We have rented other Michigan properties, and this has been our favorite spot for several reasons: * It's about 2 hours from Chicago, so an easy drive with kids * It was very clean and well stocked. It included linens and towels, which many properties do not. The kitchen had everything and more. We loved the big electric grill and made excellent pancakes on it, all the kitchen tools we needed, plenty of sets of plates, glassware, etc.. * Bonus Items: A welcome basket that included pasta, sauce and a bottle of wine. Bottled water in the fridge and morning coffee. Some basics like tea, flour, cooking oil, mustard, sugar, etc. Bathroom had trial size items as well as a new toothbrush. The garage had beach items our kids enjoyed and bicycles. * Air- Conditioning! It was warm when we were in Michigan and we loved the cool house after a hot beach day. * Charcoal Grill and fire-pit: We loved using these every night. * Comfortable beds and pillows. * Books and games: My teenage son read your copy of Moby Dick while we were there! * Laundry: It was nice to wash our beach towels, bathing suits and clothes. * LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! The home is located next store to a public park where our boys went to often and enjoyed the playground equipment and open field. Right there is a very good public beach which we took full advantage of. Rachel was very quick to respond and very friendly. I will suggest this property to friends and look forward to returning in the future. We truly felt at home. Fennville and the surrounding area was great! Don't miss: Fruit picking at Crane's, Oval Beach in Saugatuck, Holland Farmer's Market (I have NEVER been to a better one), The Red Dock Restaurant in Saugatuck, Virtue Cidee in Fenville for amazing Cider and a family atmosphere. Bring bug spray!! :-)"

  • This cottage is such a great location on the lake!

"We have been to the cottage a few times now, and each time we enjoy it even more! The hot tub is a great feature especially in the winter!"
