  • Outstanding One Week Stay

"I stayed at Lochaven with my boyfriend's family and I loved it! I've been to Saugatuck a few times and love the area. But staying at Lochaven was a whole new wonderful experience. Beautiful house, beautiful yard and gorgeous views of the lake. There's a private staircase that goes down to a private beach! Tons to do for the whole family: ping pong, swimming, bocce ball, early morning coffee on the front porch, watching the sunset from the stairs. The pool and hot-tub in the backyard were a favorite; we even had a chance to play some tennis. We also explored downtown Saugatuck and the Antique Pavilion on Blue Star. So many cute shops! Dinner at Marro's downtown was delicious (and plenty of ice cream options!) The owners were very friendly and helpful. Mac greeted us and showed us around when we first arrived. Everything was so clean and tidy. The week flew by! I would ABSOLUTELY recommend Lochaven!! It was the perfect summer get-away."

  • A Wonderful Week

"My family thoroughly enjoyed their second visit to this lovely lake house. The house is thoughtfully and beautifully laid out - there are spaces to gather together and spaces to spread out. The house has many special features including the shower room off of the master bedroom. Each bedroom is equipped with its own bathroom and shower. There is even an outdoor shower. Outside there are two decks and a screened porch. I was always the early riser and enjoyed a quiet coffee each morning on the porch. Then we used the beautiful and well appointed kitchen to make breakfast together for everyone. The days were filled with swimming and sun at Oval Beach, climbing Mt. Baldhead, shopping in nearby Saugatuck, Douglas, and South Haven, and even renting stand up paddle boards and "Craigcats" on the Kalamazoo River. We recommend eating at Crane's near Fenneville, Clementine's in South Haven, and the Wild Dog Grille in Douglas. We also recommend grilling, cooking, and dining in this beautiful home. Barbara was an excellent communicator and was quick to respond to emails. I'll be dreaming of returning to this Glenn retreat during the cold winter months."

  • Terrific Home & Location

"We enjoyed this terrific home and location when we stayed there for an extended weekend with three other families. Our group consisted of 8 adults and 8 children; a total of 16 people. The home accommodated all of us comfortably with plenty of bedrooms, bathrooms and communal rooms where we could gather as a whole group or where where the adults and children could be together separately. For example, the adults could sit in and around the hot tub or around the dining room table while the children could take advantage of all the electronic and non-electronic (ping pong, etc.) in the lower level game room. The home had everything we needed to make ourselves home; stay entertained and cook for large groups of people. The home is in very good condition and clean. The property is in a fantastic location - it seems secluded in the woods yet it's only a few steps from the beach and minutes from downtown Saugatuk. Overall, we had a fantastic time during our long weekend and most of that was contributed to us having this wonderful, fully-equipped property as our home base for the weekend. This is a property I would actively seek out again to book when I return to the area."

  • Everything you need

"Just returned from a weeks stay. It flew by. Home was clean and well appointed. Awesome location with small walk to beach or several great beaches 2 miles down the road. Plenty of room for a family of five, including a poor sick kid who spent most of her time in bed. Beds were cozy, tons of towels, concrete floors were easy to sweep up from endless sand from all our excursions. Great wooded location. Restful gazing at birds, squirrels and deer from the deck. Daughter hung a hammock in the woods and sketched for hours. Limitless hot water, well stocked kitchen. We enjoyed watching the olympics, playing wii and streaming music on the sound system. Wifi strong and consistent. Hot tub was welcome after long hikes in the dunes. A/C and fans kept us comfortable. Private location, but neighbors friendly. I imagine this location would be awesome in any season. Wish we had a home here. Owner was responsive and friendly."
