  • Ideal location, roomy, clean, and welcoming...

"We couldn't be happier with the house we rented. The location is ideal, the house is roomy and very well appointed, and the communication was primo. Tons of space for two families with kids ranging from four to 16 and with varying bedtimes and wake up times. The two living room setup is perfect and allowed for music playing and sing along on one end and quiet puzzle solving on the other. Kitchen well supplied and with an island that, as always, turned into a prime gathering place. Loved the back yard and deck too--has a nice fire pit and plenty of space for bocce ball. Location of the property gives quick access to Sawyer and the surrounding area too. One member of our party has special needs and the house as a single level property was ideal in that regard as well. Thanks a million! We're looking forward to a return trip."

  • Another wonderful week

"We just returned home to Nashville, TN after spending another fun filled, peaceful, welcoming week at The Good Life cottage in Union Pier. Everything about the home says "glad you are here". Thanks, Matt, once again for making our annual trek to Michigan a glorious experience. Hope to see your place again in 2017."

  • Summertime at Hidden Pond

"My last review of Hidden Pond was submitted for a wintertime visit (see Winter Wabi-sabi Weekend Getaway); a retreat so well loved that I decided to return for a summertime experience. Since my last assessment was focused mainly on the cottage itself, I will refrain from repeating those same comments this time and instead focus on location and activities. Suffice it to say the house remains as charming as ever with the added bonus of a wifi upgrade. (Thank you Jenifer!) In my opinion, this cottage could not be situated more perfectly. Although it appears to be quietly tucked away in the woods, it is actually only minutes from the highway and maybe a five minute drive to Meijer’s store, gas stations, etc. But the main attraction for me is its close proximity to Grand Mere State Park and beach. As a lover of dogs, nature and travel, I search for places on earth such as this. I, along with my human and canine companions, had a glorious day at this beach that seems mostly untouched by civilization. There are no concession stands, no beach gear rentals and no obnoxious crowds; just water, sand, dunes, artsy pebbles, and wild grass. Aahh nature. After we had enough sun and sand for the day, Hidden Pond was there to welcome us back home. I can’t speak for everyone, but I am famished after a day at the beach and this place calls for fun collaborative culinary efforts. The large kitchen provides ample space for preparing fresh summer salads and tropical drinks while the deck serves as a stage for outdoor grilling and gathering around a meal with those you love. While some of us cut fruit and veggies, others lit up the charcoal and watched over the sizzling meats with the noise of laughter from a softball game transpiring in the large yard. Conclude this day with a moonlit walk back to the beach where you watch a display of shooting stars descend in the sky and you set yourself up with one of those moments in time when you realize you are experiencing perfection. I will end this review with a few recommendations to those who wish to seek their own perfect moments at Hidden Pond and Grand Mere. Wear water shoes to protect feet against beach pebbles. Do not haul unnecessary things to the beach as there is some hiking involved. Bring an insulated backpack (I like Picnic Time backpacks) filled with drinks and snacks. I also like the zip up picnic blankets with carry handles. I found the mosquito repellent adhesive stickers to work very well too. Enjoy!"

  • Absolutely Perfect!

"When my family and I decided to rent a place on the lake, we wanted it to be cozy and feel like home...well, we found the perfect place!! This home was exactly what we were looking for. It was super clean and had everything that we needed. We enjoyed spending mornings on the back deck enjoying our coffee and had a blast ending our night on the screened in porch playing our nightly game of scrabble. The kids also enjoyed the paddle boat, swim raft and other board games. Everyone had a wonderful week!! Thanks again, Sue Ellen and Tom, we'll see you next year!!"
