  • Family Vacation

"Our family has stayed in several homes along lake michigan but it seems like we always come back to our favorite... "The SummerHouse." Colleen the property manager is wonderful to work with and could not be more accomodating. She is always available for any questions about the home or area and very quick to address any concerns there may be. The two story home (first level / walkout basement to pool) is perfect for families with a wide range of ages. Two bedrooms upstairs, and one bedroom downstairs in addition to 4th bed/sleeping quarters makes it possible to seperate those who may go to bed early and those who stay up late. There is a large fully stocked kitchen that has everything you need to make family dinners at home with plenty of seating around the kitchen island or dining room table. There is a deck that spans that entire back of the home and very large concrete patio with ample furniture to lounge around the pool. The pool has a diving board for the kids and automatic cover for the parents convience and piece of mind. The backyard is great for the kids to blow off energy on the swing set or a game of whiffle ball and has a fire pit at the rear of the property for snacks and stories as the night winds down. The home is a very short walk to a large nicely maintained private beach area. The SummerHouse located in Union Pier is only a 5 minute drive away from restaurants and some nightlife in downtown New Buffalo, but far enough away in a quite neighborhood for some relaxing vacation time. There is a small market and a wonderful deli a short walk away for those who would prefer not to leave Union Pier. Must do area activites include visiting the Galien River County Park where there is a fishing dock and a sky platform that overlooks the river and wildlife area. The New Buffalo Township Office has a splash park for kids, a nature trail, and full court basketball court as well. Just a short drive up the road you can rent kayaks and spend an hour or two paddling on the Galien River. We will return to the SummerHouse without a doubt! - John B. and Family - Indianapolis, IN"

  • Cute cottage with a great location

"We enjoyed our week in Cottage C. It's roomy and comfortable on the whole. The layout is a little odd--with two bedrooms and two bathrooms off the kitchen--but it worked surprisingly well to allow everyone privacy and quiet after the kids went to sleep. We loved the outdoor spaces--all the decks and the patio, and especially the little screened porch off the master bedroom. The community of cottages is adorable and quiet (despite one very sour neighbor who seemed offended by our very existence and lost her head when my husband mistakenly came into the parking lot through the exit--God forbid!). I do wish the kitchen were a little more accommodating: Even with all of our meals prepared or prepped in advance, I struggled a little. And I was disappointed by the cleanliness when we arrived: When I wiped off the kitchen table, the cloth came away brown (Yuck!), and the kitchen trash can lid looked like it had never been cleaned before. On the upside, though, it's less than 1/4 mile to the beach at McKinley Street (which is by far the better of the two nearby beaches--quiet and sandy), an easy and pleasant walk. You can literally come here, park your car, and never drive anywhere all week since little restaurants and shops are a half mile down Townline. It's a great spot, on the whole."

  • Girls Weekend - GREAT get away!

"I booked this home for a girls weekend. it was PERFECT! I have been booking with VRBO for a very long time, this house was by far the nicest rental I have ever had. From the moment I stepped into the cozy screened-in porch, I knew this was a winner. The house is beautifully decorated, spotless, great location with just a short 5 min. walk to the beach (NOTE: there really IS a beach, unlike some areas in that area which have eroded away) and within walking distance to restaurants and coffee shops. It just felt like home. Although we did not use it, there was a fire pit stocked with wood, a shed with any kind of water toys, bikes, sleds, sand toys AND an outdoor shower. This house would be a great respite any time of year. I defiantly will be coming back for a full week. Thanks Mike! LOVE THIS HOUSE!"

  • RELAX IN UNION PIER !!

"We just came back from a wonderfully restful and fun week at 'A BLUE MOON.' The home is so comfortable, with plenty of space and yet a cozy, warm feel with relaxing touches all around. Extremely CLEAN!. Our family enjoyed the area beach life ( 1/2 block away, as well as Warren Dunes, St. Joe, New Buffalo and Michigan City).Since we like to cook, we had a complete kitchen with everything we needed for preparing and serving our meals. Coffee shops, restaurants all close by. The home is very PRIVATE, with a beautiful appreciation of the wooded landscape, wildlife, many birds and an overall peaceful setting. Beautiful area to go on long, interesting walks with a variety of historic homes and newer properties as well. You can also easily walk to the beach, and just relax. The owner has a great collection of books, games and movies as well. She is quick to respond to any questions and delivers on everything promised in the description. Highly recommend !! Will be back!"
