  • Private retreat in the Catskills!

"My Fiancé and I stayed for a weekend and really enjoyed our stay at this home - we were sad to leave when we were just settling in. Its up a long winding and hilly driveway at the end of a road that led us to a really private area. With this in mind though, it was not far from the main area of Margaretville, so you could get to the stores, Reservoir for boating and town in just a few minutes - and skiing is nearby for when the season hits. Honor system farm just down the road for produce.... The house is has a clean, stylish design, with all sorts of eclectic curiosities and pretty collectibles to view and enjoy, with comfy broken-in soft sheets, good towels and poofy down blankets. It was as quiet as quiet can be, except for the birds singing in the trees... And Foodies Rejoice: You will be finally DELIGHTED to have found a home with everything you need equipment-wise to make a meal of your choice: Perfect spatulas at a rental??!! Check. The worlds largest cast iron skillet to make chicken under a brick? Yup! Knives galore? Yes. A Food processor? - Got it. Dutch ovens? Uh-huh. Muffin Tins?? uh...yes! The list goes on extensively.... and be sure to peek and find older cult (and coveted) Gourmet & Food & Wine magazines with great recipes from the past. (I snapped a few pics of saved old recipes in a loose-leaf binder hiding away). I was initially concerned as my Fiancé likes to watch TV at night and I worried that he would have to sit in a bedroom to watch a TV but I had misunderstood the description; there's another living room type loft above the main floor where you can all hang out on tufted pillows or the daybed-couch, play backgammon or other games or watch some TV. I found this area a bonus. It rained on our last day; and the sound of the wind in the leaves and the rain hitting the roof was wonderful for sleeping in - had we enough time we would have lit a fire in the fireplace during our stay but we were enjoying too many other things to fit it in. I'll be back!"

  • Great place

"Loved our long weekend here. We were four adults and a dog and really enjoyed the place. The host was here to welcome us and extremely helpful. The smart tv, games and fireplace were all very enjoyable and the rooms are nice - even better than in the pictures. The only thing I'd note is that it's quite far from most places and the bedroom walls are very thin."

  • Beautiful, well-kept house with lots of space

"The photos of the house don't really do it justice. It's very large with beds not pictured. The fireplace was wonderful and there were amenities like soaps and shampoos available as well. We went tubing at Ski Platekill, which was a lot of fun and less than a 5-minute drive away/ The only annoying part was the shoddy cellphone service, which is a problem for the whole town and not the chalet. The owner did install a cell service booster that did help give pretty clear service near the largest windows."
