  • Great place for a family gathering, or really anything!

"The Barn at Copake Lake was our home for Thanksgiving. 12 of us piled in and cooked and laughed and enjoyed the fire, the kitchen, the spaces to chat and laugh. It was amazing and Jon could not have been more wonderful and Tim was always there for questions, information and helping get the wood in to start up our fires. The kitchen is amazing, big and has everything you could want to cook and cook we did. We were very comfortable and it was a home away from home. My aunt tripped and fell when stepping into a bag from a chair that she did not realize was there. Jon and Tim got us all the information we needed on doctors, local hospitals and resources. They checked on us to make sure we were all fine and extended hospitality and kindness beyond measure. The bathrooms are large and have everything. The setting is beautiful It is clean, the beds are comfortable and overall just great. The wildlife outside was amazing and we even had that slight snowfall to give everything the holiday look. I hope we can come back again someday. The most gracious hosts you could ever hope for."

  • Perfect Getaway

"'The perfect weekend getaway'. That's what the heading should read when describing this cottage. My wife and I stayed with two other couples all looking for a break from our connected lifestyle. We found ourselves feet up enjoying a glass of wine around a fire for three nights straight! From the minute we entered the front door we felt welcome. Denise, the owner, penned a friendly note that was both sweet and informative. It was apparent a lot of love and care was put into making sure the experience was what every guest hopes to have. The decor was perfect, the amenities were plentiful and all six of us raved how comfortable the beds were every morning. Friday and Saturday were spent mostly on the property either kayaking, boating, cooking, hanging by the fire or relaxing inside. Sunday we decided to take a ride into Hillsdale, a quaint little town with shops and cafes..We definitely plan on booking again soon!"

  • Wonderful rustic getaway!

"Pop's Cabin was a perfect weekend getaway for our 50th birthdays. Les and Elaine were great hosts and very responsive. The cabin is a real cabin... just so warm and inviting. We had two couples staying three nights and the accomodations provide for the right amount of privacy and together time. The beds and linens are comfortable. The cabin was stocked with everything we needed. We cooked gourmet meals two of the nights and wanted for nothing in the kitchen. Plenty of wine glasses and beer steins and frozen beer mugs. The knives are sharp and several cutting boards. The dining room table accomodates waymore than we needed. Nice entertainment system including whole house surround system which we used for a dance party that no one should ever see! The front porch provided a huge stack of wood for the fireplace and two nice rockers to relax in the quiet. You can barely hear a road with traffic in the distance. A big pine in the front yard was laced in white lights that gave the place a special brightness that made you feel at home. Les recommended the Hillrock Distillery that was less than a mile away. Do the one hour tour for $20. The tour guide was 24 and far beyond his years in intellect and personal interaction. He gave us hope for the younger generation. What an amaizing young man! We shot pool at Mt. Washington House, an 1800s tavern taken over by the late owner's daughter, Kelly. Three pool tables and the best service! We dined at The Pond and had a great time partying with the owners, Larry and Linda (thank you for the fabulous birthday dinner and drinks). We hiked Bash Bish Falls at Taconic Mountain. Out with the bad... so you can take in more bad. If you are coming in through Millerton, stop at Balck Rabbit Bar & Grill for a bloody mary - have them make it with the cucumber vodka or the pepper vodka - both were excellent! We want to thank Les and Elaine for sharing their place with us! It was one of the best birthday excursions we have taken and there have been many of them. We will be back this summer! Until then..."
