  • Fab Country Home, Fab Vacation!

"The Haywood Farmhouse is a meticulously renovated and decorated older country home located in a bucolic setting close to NYC in the Hudson Valley. The restoration undertaken here is an obvious labor of love, and the owners have quite successfully maintained the intimate and authentic feel of the original century plus old house while adding up to date modern amenities such as the new master bath and bedroom expansion. The decoration also pays homage to the period feel of the house, with great attention to detail paid to the furnishings which are a mix of modern and antique and are exceptionally complimentary to the overall ambience. All of this adds up to a supremely inviting and aesthetically pleasing home which is perfect for relaxing and decompressing from the stresses of city life. Equally engaging are the beautifully landscaped grounds and pool which allow for an easy connection to nature as well as the option for recreational play and exercise. My family and I spent nine days and nights here and had an absolutely terrific time, venturing out occasionally to the farm stands and scenic drives near by, but mostly lying low and relaxing in the sun room and the deck or swimming in the solar heated pool (which, by the way, saved us hundreds of dollars in the heating fuel costs we've incurred at pools without solar heating in other houses we've rented). In addition, the owner was extremely communicative and responsive to our questions and concerns, and added welcoming touches such as fresh flowers and bottled water next to the beds. If you are choosing to rent a classic country home for your Hudson Valley getaway, the Haywood Farmhouse should be at the top of your list. I can give it my highest recommendation!"

  • Friends' Winter Escape

"Myself and six of our dearest friends spent a relaxing and restorative weekend in this lovely A frame home with windows throughout the house overlooking the trees and mountains. With its brightly colored walls and spacious living room and kitchen and dining areas, we were able to dine with ease and prepare all of our meals in this well equipped kitchen which provided everything we needed with the beauty of the surrounding scenery to provide the ambience. All of the furniture in the living room was very comfortable and we were able to enjoy all of our catch-up DVD movies and it was conducive also for resting and reading. The beds provided a restful night's sleep and the moon shining in with its warm glow was an unexpected delight. Being able to watch the sunset with its layers of colors from the kitchen while we were preparing our meals added to our pleasure. The art work throughout the house reflected the owner's love of children and appreciation of nature's bounties. We hope to return to this lovely home in the Spring or Fall and the Walkway over the Hudson which was very close by."

  • Perfect vacation in a stunning house

"We spent Thanksgiving with our two children at this beautiful house and can't say enough good things about it. We were met by the local caretaker who showed us around. The owner had also thoughtfully left a bottle of wine as well as binder with lots of suggestions on the local areas restauarants and activities. Let's start with the setting. The house is set back at the end of a long uphill driveway which gives the house privacy and serenity. The owner has everything you'd need for outdoor living - a grill, table with ample seating, a soccer goal to entertain the kids, etc. The house itself is updated, clean, spacious, and beautifully appointed. There is a windowed living room downstairs with lots of light and a fireplace as well as a separate den with TV (with cable and Netflix). The kitchen is well equipped and we cooked a full Thanksgiving meal there with no problems. Sonos controlled speakers and Nest thermostats throughout make it pleasing and comfortable. There are four good sized bedrooms upstairs along with two bathrooms and laundry facilities. The owner was very responsive and was ready to help with any questions. We loved our stay at the house and couldn't recommend it more highly."
