  • Lots Good, Some Not So Much

"This was the 2nd time we stayed here. Last year there were only two of us, this time three. This time we rented the entire apartment and suite. I don't think more than two people would find the apartment comfortable for sleeping, which is why we also rented the "suite." The owner is VERY accessible since she lives upstairs and she is very responsive. She also knows the city inside and out and has made lots of great suggestions in a notebook in the apartment. The apartment is well located, easy walking distance to both subway and buses. It is on a residential street with restaurants and shops nearby. It's on the ground floor, so no flights to climb. The kitchen is very modern and well stocked with plates, pots, silverware, etc. There is a dishwasher. The adjoining dining table is quite suitable. Bonus feature: a large (for NY) backyard with table and chairs. Really unheard of in NY. Sadly, most of the furniture is rather shabby and badly worn. There are two new chairs in the LR, but the sofa and day bed are really bad. The bathroom with shower is in the bedroom, so anyone needing the toilet at night has to come through the bedroom, waking those asleep there. The "suite" has its own powder room. The bathroom has a distinctively moldy smell, even if the fan is constantly left running. I think this apartment is very roomy for NY, very well located and on a lovely tree-lined street."

  • A great New York foothold

"The owners were very welcoming and eager to be sure we had all the info we needed for a comfy stay. The location is fantastic with everything a few blocks away or much closer. We were comfortable in weather in the low 80s with the fans even with no AC. All gigantic pre war windows had screens with a good cross breeze. The loft itself is homey, artful, spotlessly clean and felt safe. The Internet was fine if we were seated with a clear path to the router. We had no trouble with it. Cable large screenTV (we spent very little time with it but it was nice to have) in both bedrooms, washer/dryer and nice appliances."
