"What a wonderful place to stay! I read all the reviews of A Pole in the Ayre and researched other properties before booking and I have to be honest this was more then I expected. Kitchen literally had every essential item one one need, bedrooms were large and cozy, and the open concept upstairs was what really brought it all together! After driving nearly 800 miles from upstate NY, this was definitely the place to relax for a week away from it all. Surf fishing was so so, but my son was able to catch many varietys of fish from the pier right next door. The beach, since it was off season was amazingly our own playground for the week! To playing soccer, baseball, throwing a football and lacrosse, the entire beach was just ours! The surround sound system throughout the house and on the back porch was a bonus! We enjoyed enough christmas music to last the rest of the season! Other activies we were able to get in included a round of golf 5 minutes away, and a nice trip to Wilmington to have lunch at the front street brewery and tour the Battleship! (Highly recommended). But the best part of it all would have been just relaxing on the porch overlooking the ocean where dolphins played right in front of the house. Further out, you could see large water spouts shoot in the air followed by whale tails breaking the water! ( wish I had brought binoculars). We really lucked out with not to shabby weather for the time of year! I left with a tan face. Overall, this house was just what was needed for us for the week and it was everything the reviews said and more! We would like to thank the homeowners for allowing us to stay there and enjoy this property! We can't wait to return next year!"

  • Good

"Overall we loved this property. It is exactly as shown in the pictures. The proximity to everything was fantastic, gorgeous views, and so much room. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was 1.because we were told towels were included and they were not and 2. The jacuzzi tub was not clean. Other than that we loved our stay there and would highly recommend it."

  • Pearl by the Sea lives up to High Expectations!

"Our family of 12 had a relaxing and wonderful time at "the Peatl". The property is so well appointed. The beds were each amazing and we have some picky family members! The views are spectacular from the porches or the great room, dining and kitchen area. All the beach toys you need are provided. They even provided spices. Very new and well maintained- spotless. Great customer service- we had the wrong code for the tennis courts. Our family appreciated the pool and tennis. Everything was in working order. We enjoyed a day in Wilmington- harbor cruise then battleship for the guys and shopping for the girls. Locally lots of restersunts to chose from. Check out the mini golf with the live DJ- 80s night! Loved the jet skis to rent nearby. Don't forget Fractured Prune doughnuts! Highly recommend !"

  • Excellent!! Our first and hopefully not last stay in Jeff and Patty's home at the beach.

"First of all, this is not a cottage that I grew up going to by any means. This is a beautiful home at the beach. Beach access: The location is just a football field length away from the very quiet end of island regular beach and 4x4 beach. The entire family and guests had a great time riding the very strong current going in and out of the waterway. Everyone also enjoyed walking way out during low tide. Walking up and down the 4x4 beach was lots of fun too, lots of friendly locals fishing and having fun. There was regular traffic up and down the street but didn't run into anyone being unruly or unsafe or anything less than courteous with the foot traffic around. The other public beach access points were just a small walk or drive away. Boys were always searching for the big waves. The house: More like a home away from home. House was very clean on arrival. Even smelled clean. The air conditioning was set perfectly on arrival which felt great with the constant mid 90's our whole trip. The house is very spacious and open, and comfortable. The house is beautifully and tastefully decorated. Shiny floors, clean rugs, and clean functional furniture. Television was available everywhere, but TV time wasn't necessary very often. In the kitchen, everything you could need including dishes, glassware, silverware, and more pots and pans than you could need. Also all the appliances needed (kids loved the ice maker fridge...we don't have one). The decks were great to chill on and watch the sunrise every morning. The sunsets across the waterway could be viewed just out the front door. Was also a great spot to watch and hear the almost daily thunderstorms. Great location for that. The owners: Jeff and Patty responded very quickly to any phone call or email we sent. Never had the feeling we were bothering them. We didn't run into any real issues there so problem resolution can't be reviewed, but with the interactions we did have I know it wouldn't have been handled quickly. Jeff also emailed us lots of emails with local information and trip tips. Very presonal service that you dont get with a rental company. We look forward to having the chance to rent their home again. We had a great time. Thank you Jeff and Patty for providing such a great place to rent."
