  • Nice Quiet Getaway for Rest and Rejuvenation

"Stayed here the week before Memorial Day to get some R&R in from my stressful job. Our party of 5 adults and 1 child were nicely accommodated by this rental residence. Beach access is convenient, somewhat secluded and is, in my opinion, the main draw of this particular property. Although we brought much of our own gear, I took a peek in their Owner's closet which had many amenities for folks to use on the beach. Property is clean and well-maintained overall, in fact I noted there was construction going on at St. Regis while we were there. The Shrimp House at St. Regis is mediocre at best but would recommend combing through the list of restaurants and activities that the owner provides for you in the binder (found in the kitchen). I highly recommend Sears Landing in Surf City which is about a 15 minute drive south. Golf at North Beach Plantation is excellent and a short 12 minute drive away over the bridge. My mother-in-law accidentally left our 10 month old daughter's baby blanket behind at the condo. Owner graciously agreed to have it mailed back to us if found by the cleaning staff. Overall, for the price, this condo is a good value. Thanks for a relaxing vacation!"

  • Family relaxation at the beach

"My husband and I wanted a quiet month at the beach. We chose this property to have plenty of space and private bathrooms for family members we wanted to join us. That worked out really well. The open-concept living area and the decks provided all the space we needed to be together. Four bedrooms with ensuite baths gave folks a place to retreat. We were a group of age 55+ adults. We also needed pet-friendly to accommodate my sister's Yorkie. This house met all our needs. The house and furnishings are a bit worn around the edges, but the necessary stuff was in working order and water pressure in the showers was awesome. Full size washer and dryer are convenient on the bedroom level. We were told that the kitchen is scheduled for refurbishment after our stay. Location is key on a less crowdEd part of the island, about equal distance between grocery shopping in either Surf City or Snead's Ferry. It was a long haul (20 mi round-trip) to a couple of our favorite restaurants on the south end of the island, but we considered it worth the drive. We had good communication with the owner, but it became a bit frustrating after he connected us with the management company he uses. Fortunately we had time to work out the communication issues and all came together well in advance of our arrival. As with most beach houses, there are a lot of stairs. Having a bedroom and bath on the main living area makes it easier for someone who can't do stairs multiple times daily. The exterior stairs and deck are rough with splinters and popped nails. Be careful and wear shoes. This is a wonderful retreat for the family who needs public and private space within the house, expansive beach and views, and doesn't mind getting in the car for anything other than beach time."

  • Great location and house layout

"The house was clean but not fancy. We had 10 people staying (kids and adults) and there were plenty of separate inside and outside areas so we didn't feel crowded. We had a few minor issues (problem with one of the showers, a cable box was out, etc.). The owner was responsive to all our questions/inquiries. The kitchen was well equipped. One set of bunk beds was rickety - kids complained that it was noisy and felt unstable. We brought a pontoon boat for the guys to go fishing while the ladies lounged in the pool. Although there is a private boat ramp at the residence, there wasn't enough room to put it in/out at the house. We had to use a public ramp a few miles away. But we were able to keep it docked all week with no issues. We just allowed enough line to accommodate the tides; the wake from passing boats was not an issue. Ramp is perfect for kayaks or anything that doesn't require backing up a vehicle. The location allowed easy access to the beach. Beaches were very nice. Not crowded at all, which was surprising as we were there in July. There was more activity on the beach at night - lots of shark fishing from the shore. If we come back to Topsail, I would stay here again."
