  • WOW!!!

"My family of five returned this evening from a spring break getaway to Bryson City. The Poplar Lodge looked very nice on the internet, but we were blown away by just how beautiful and comfortable it is in person. The customer service upon our arrival was outstanding; I got a real sense that this is so much more than just a business to the family. My three children, ages 10, 8 and 7, are already planning our next spring break trip to the cabin!"

  • Fontana Fish Trip

"Very nice and well equipped home with beautiful view of the lake. The home is on a very quiet, tortuous road that can be tricky to find. There is a steep climb down to a nice covered dock that has an upstairs deck for sun and PM drinks! The beds are extremely comfortable and our party of six enjoyed our stay. Gas grill is available, but needs a little work. Only negative was the debris on the lake this time of year. We rented a nice pontoon boat from Alarka dock and enjoyed a couples trip on the lake. We also brought our bass boat for fishing and the dock at the home was easy to moor. Nice house!"

  • Basic cabin in perfectly beautiful river location

"5+ stars for the outdoor amenities, 3 stars for the cabin itself. The proximity to the water is unparalleled, spitting distance to the most gorgeous water view (the river splits into three parts right in front of the cabin and the islands in between are also available for exploring by bridge). There is a lovely fire pit (bring a lighter and kindling with you or you won't be able to do anything with the amazing pile of firewood next to it). Lovely nearby hike and a huge field next to the house- perfect for playing sports or spreading out to fish in the river. Best part bar none: rafting on unguided duckies and kayaks and making a pit stop for lunch at our own cabin on the way down the river (and ate said lunch / snack on the porch right on the river). We did it twice and it was seriously awesome. I cannot say enough about the location to the river. Ah-mazing. However, the cabin less so. As lovely as it is to hear the rushing water and see the amazing views, the cabin is also very close to the highway. (The highway sits next to the river the whole way so if you have one you have the other). Traffic can be heard at all times in and around the cabin as well as noise from the camping sites across the street. The bedroom faces the street and can be loud at night between the traffic and the window a/c kicking on and off all night (ear plugs and a box fan helped us out here). The cabin is part of a community with very nice homes (not remote as we thought it would be) and the hiking area, meadow, islands are all shared with the neighbors. The cabin needs a lot of love. It is tidy and reasonably clean but aged. The wifi was our main issue. We had a maximum of 1 bar the whole trip and it dropped every 10-15 mins for an hour or so. We have Verizon and 95% of the times we tried, there was no satellite signal for that either. We weren't prepared for this so be sure to reserve rafts, download books, look up restaurants, and tell your kids see ya when we get back before you come since you won't be able to do it at the cabin. The bed was comfortable, shower had great water pressure and hot water, numerical keypad lock was great. In comparison this has the prettiest location, but also the noisiest and least updated. Cabin is very basic, just like it states in the description. You are paying for the river proximity here. However if this cabin were updated, wow it would be a gem. Thanks for the nice stay Renee."

  • Wonderful cabin with a beautiful creek

"We just stayed here for the second time. We love this place. The cabin is everything we were looking for. You can't see a single neighbor from the cabin. The boys love to roam the woods around the cabin and fool around in the creek. We never caught any trout, but that probably had more to do with our trout-fishing skills than anything else. Thanks again!"
