  • Rare mountain top lodging with beautiful vistas

"Water Rock is that exceptional place in our country that speaks of extreme solitude and peace. Most anywhere in the yard shows another lovely view. The yard itself has been whittled out of the earth with stepping stones, and tunnels through rhododendron. There are even pear trees. The house is comfortable and also has gorgeous mountain views. My two sons and my best friend were there in August 2016 for my wedding anniversary celebration. My husband passed away in November 2015, and to be on the same mountain that we have spent so many anniversaries together was very special to me. My son hiked to Black Rock and sprinkled John's ashes on the rock, with a small ceremony. We had rented Raven's Crest on this same mountain for many years before it was sold. John and I often wanted to rent Water Rock, but it was too big for 2 people. So finally, I was privileged to stay there. Thank you Tama."

  • Beautiful Place, Scary Drive

"The cabin is beautiful and has top notch appliances, bedding, and decor. You probably won't find any place that is nicer than this cabin. The jetted tub inside and hot tub outside should please just about anyone. The property managers do a really nice job. The towels are folded into swans, etc to greet you just like on a cruise ship. It is not totally secluded as there are 3 cabins within eyesight, which was fine with us. We are not into being hermits. The roads are paved but unless you frequent the mountains often, you might find it a good idea to find this cabin in the daylight. Further, if you are not a mountain person, understand this cabin is on top of the mountain. You should have good brakes and good tires and you definitely should not have a trailer attached. There are multiple ways to get to this cabin. It is much less stressful to go through Gatlinburg, go past Food City on Parkway and turn left at the light. That is a the road with many, many arts and crafts stores and few good restaurants. We considered this a "back route". Do not go toward Pigeon Forge and take the route off that main road. It will scare non mountain people half to death. Your GPS might say it is a bit shorter or something but that is meaningless because you will drive so slow on the twisted, steep roads. Even on the good road, you will need to keep your vehicle in 2nd and 3rd gear. On the front road, you will not be able to see the road in front of you at times. You will have "infinity hood". Although it's listed as Sevierville, it is not in Sevierville. The address totally confused local folks. Trust me. Take the back route. It will save you time and white knuckles, not to mention there are cool shops along the way. This cabin is a great cabin for staying in. I don't think it is one for hiking around. The brush is dense and the terrain is steep. If you want to hike, drive through Gatlinburg toward Cherokee, NC. There are beautiful trails all along the way. For whitewater rafting, we used Nantahala Outdoor Center and rafted the Pigeon Forge. You won't run out of things to do. The owner is very nice and communicates often and takes very good care of this property."

  • Comfortable and convenient.

"Stayed here for two nights, it was very nice. Close enough to parkway that we could walk, so we didn't have to fight traffic or worry about parking. Would stay here again."

  • Comfortable Chalet

"We enjoyed our stay in the chalet very much! Laura was very responsive to every email and question I asked. The whole process went very smoothly and we would definitely stay again. The location was perfect. We were only minutes from all of the activities we did in the Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville areas. It was so nice to escape the craziness of those cities to a quiet chalet outside of town. Having a jacuzzi was wonderful to soak in after hiking in the Smoky Mountains National Park. The Chalet pools were very nice, as well. I would recommend this chalet. Thanks, Laura!"
