  • Best stay ever.

"My family Visits WNC a couple times a year. We have stayed in many places looking for the right area we want to live in one day. This last trip was by far the best ever. Not only is the cabin wonderful but the Cates are some of the most friendly people and made us truly feel like we were at home with old friends. She invited the kids to come down to their house anytime to swim and play. Just talking over coffee was great. I had two 13 year old boys, my mom and my 87 year old grandma with me. The house was perfect. Most importantly it was easy for my grandma to get around. Only two small steps and the driveway is paved and level. I highly recommend staying with the Cates. It's the perfect location and will fit any type of family. We will not stay anywhere else and can't wait to go back."

  • Our stay in Otto NC

"We loved Serendipity! It has large bathrooms and a modern kitchen. The view from the back porch was to very nice. My son and I sat on the back porch late into the night, just looking at the stars. When we go on vacation we love to stay near Franklin, it is our home base to play in North Georgia and cross over the mountains into Tennessee. Ken was easy to deal with and we hope to stay at Serendipity again."

  • Can't wait to go back!

"What a lovely place to stay in Franklin. My husband, teen daughter and I stayed for 3 nights on our way home to Florida from a few days in Vurginia. The cabin was clean, well-appointed, and the views were breathtaking. We used it as a base camp while seeing the sites, white-water rafting, and hiking the many falls in the area. Sitting on the expansive porch in the morning with a cup of tea listening to the mountains wake up and with a glass of wine in the evenings watching the lightning bugs and storms roll through the mountains was just the downtime we needed. We are looking forward to returning to Shreck's centrally-located slice of heaven. The only suggestion my daughter had was for a fire pit to roast marshmallows for s'mores. 😊"

  • Excellent for our needs

"We were a party of 4 adults and a 7 year old. The home was very comfortable for us and extremely roomy, although we did not use the basement area at all. We so enjoyed sitting out on the balcony in the cooler temperatures and enjoying the lovely view. The owner was very responsive to our needs when the router cable for wifi was not working. Also, there a lot of suggestions left by the owner of things to do and see in and around Franklin. The highlight of our trip was rafting on the Nantahala. We used Endless River Adventures out of Bryson City and was extremely pleased. Not nearly as hectic as NOC for rafting. We had a great time with our granddaughter and kept on the go. We hope to visit Franklin again in the future."
