  • Perfect for a family; Clean and Friendly

"This cottage was absolutely perfect! I will recommend it to all of my friends and family and fully intend to return to the area and I would not consider staying anywhere else. Our vacation consisted of a road trip from FL and we used this as a home base. We saw Charlestown, SC the first day, arriving late at the cottage where the owners had everything warm and ready for us. The next day we went into town, after a great recommendation from the owners for a place to have breakfast, and then did some local gem mining. With daylight left, we decided to drive to see Craggy Gardens north of Asheville - an amazing view of the Smokey Mountains and a beautiful, scenic drive. Once again we got home too late to utilize the full kitchen, but were uber grateful for the really (REALLY) comfortable beds! The next day we went to TN, Ruby Falls in Chattanooga, driving through two National Forests and passing the most beautiful river and white water rapids! Small children, long car rides, my daughter's special blanket got covered in chocolate milk - it was so nice to go "home" and find the pantry stocked with laundry detergent and we were able to wash and dry all the laundry of 2 small children. On a side note, also about children, the mine right behind the cottage - across the highway - was perfect! They let us set up a play-yard for the littlest one right at the flume and let my daughter play all over the property when she was tired of mining, but we weren't done. So this cottage is very convenient to that activity. Maybe a 5 minute drive all said and done, if that. Last day we put the furniture back to where it was supposed to be, returned all of the cute decor I didn't want my daughter to break, and headed out. To be honest, I wish we had more time. The cottage had great hot water, an abundance of towels, dishes, pots and pans, a fun layout and upstairs a twin as well as queen bed... so it actually did sleep a full 5 people. Oh and the meadow behind it was huge and a great place for kids to run. Honestly I would never consider another place. I looked at a lot of cottages and this was the only one that seemed to have easy access, paved roads, but still had a view and a secluded (but not too secluded) feel. The privacy of the loft bedroom will be nice when we come back. And plenty of room for play yards to be set up as cribs if you need them (but bring them-none there.. and actually I think that's better anyway). Gas heat worked well. I'm out of room! I could go on.."

  • Our stay in Otto NC

"We loved Serendipity! It has large bathrooms and a modern kitchen. The view from the back porch was to very nice. My son and I sat on the back porch late into the night, just looking at the stars. When we go on vacation we love to stay near Franklin, it is our home base to play in North Georgia and cross over the mountains into Tennessee. Ken was easy to deal with and we hope to stay at Serendipity again."

  • Excellent Cabin, Excellent owner communications.

"My wife and I, along with another couple, visited this cabin and we highly recommend it to anyone seeking quiet, solitude and most everything you would expect in a mountain cabin. It was close to everything we wanted to explore, and much more we didn't have time to do. If you are looking for a nice clean cabin with open floor space, we highly recommend you chose this one.... Kitchen, BR / BA / DR / LR and deck on ground accessible main floor for those with disabilities, downstairs area for kids / teenagers and upstairs loft BR as well. Thank you for a outstanding experience. NO Complaints and we will book again.. Sandy, Rachel / Jesse, Cindy"

  • PERFECT!!!

"This was my first experience booking with VRBO. I truly could not believe how perfect it was for my mother, 2 sons (10 & 7), and myself. PROs: The size & price was perfect for the 4 of us. VERY CLEAN. It can sleep 6 but may get a little snug. We saw deer & rabbits almost every day. The air conditioner worked very well (it was hotter than usual for that area). It had 2 decent sized bedrooms. There was a comfortable queen bed & sofa pull-out downstairs & 2 twin beds up stairs. I always bring my floor fan everywhere I go, so it drowned out the sound from the TV(DirectTV) in the adjacent den. There is also a TV in the upstairs bedroom, but we never turned it on. It had 2 huge bathrooms. The water pressure was really strong & very hot. The den/dining area was adequate size for the four of us. We spent most of our time when we were there on the front porch admiring the awesome view, the hummingbird, playing games, reading, & looking at the stars. The cabin was stocked with plenty of towels, blankets, & pillows. You really only need to bring your clothes & personal items. There is so much to do. Waterfalls, hikes, gem mining (Mason's Sapphire Mine was very good), swimming holes, etc... "Cashier's Sliding Rocks" is PERFECT for all ages. We went twice this week. "Bust your Butt Falls is great for older teens (has a 25 ft cliff jump). Must see Wayah Bald-AMAZING! (See Tripadvisor for Franklin, NC). Fly fishing (Gordon w/ Turning Stones was awesome-See Tripadvisor ). Recommend "Jaxon Downtown" for pizza in Franklin & "Wicked Pig" in Clayton (the best brisket!!!) for restaurants. The creamery is great for fresh butter & ice cream made right there. Trinda is super nice! CONS: The CONS listed are not a big deal for us, but maybe for others. The kitchen was very small. We were so tired from our daily excursion that we ate sandwiches most nights. There is not any extra cabinet space. No dishwasher. There is no WIFI or if there was, it wasn't working. I didn't call & ask Trinda b/c otherwise my son would stay on his tablet playing games the entire week so it was actually a good thing. (No fault of owner) no cell phone service for Sprint. I was basically off the grid all week. I actually liked it. My mom has Verizon & it worked fine. There is a landline inside with free local calls ICOE. Not much closet space downstairs(has dresser). Not sure about upstairs. Definitely will be going back!!!!"
