  • Excellent Cabin

"My husband and I have never been in the Franklin area as we always venture to Brevard to see Pisgah, Dupont and Gorges. This was a nice treat to be relatively close to the Great Smokies in Cherokee. Plenty of places to hike and fish. We even ventured further north to Cataloochee Valley to see the Elk. WELL WORTH THE 2 HOUR DRIVE, however if you are prone to car sickness the roads would not be good for you in Cataloochee. The cabin is excellent. Beautifully decorated, comfortable, well stocked. Porches were amazing. The shower had great water pressure and tons of hot water, well needed after a full day in the mountains. I would recommend this cabin to families or couples. The living room was very accommodating, TV's worked great, plenty of channels. The drive is not bad, we made it up the driveway in a Honda Accord, just have to be careful to make sure no ruts or mounds are in the way. (There were not when we were there) During our time in Franklin, Cherokee and Cataloochee Valley we saw 11 Elk (4 males, 7 females), 6 wild turkeys a deer, a woodchuck, and a possum. My husband swears he saw the hind end of the bear, but I didn't see it so it doesn't count."

  • Wonderful place to relax and enjoy the sites and sound of the area

"We had a wonderful visit at this cute cabin on the mountain. The owners were wonderful to work with. This cabin is perfect for 4 adults or a family. Just minutes from waterfalls, downtown Franklin and Highlands is just a short drive away along a beautiful mountain drive. We spent many hours just chilling on the cabin's awesome patio which overlooks the mountains and Franklin. The cabin has a great fireplace, it's cozy and warm with lots of little decor that give it that homey feel. Since our stay we have talked a lot about this cute cabin and will most definitely be back. If your looking for a place to relax, get away from the hustle and bustle of life, but only a few minutes away from all life's amenities then you will love this sweet "Home away from Home.""

  • Pictures do not do it justice!

"We stayed at this home October 19-24....what an amazing time to be in North Carolina! The leaves were changing and the evenings and mornings were very chilly. This house is just beautiful and served our family of 6 adults perfectly. There are labels on every switch and door which made getting accustomed to the house a breeze. The hiking trail to the top is strenuous (or maybe it was the fallen damp leaves), but two members made it to the top! Just one word of caution - if you are coming during the rainy/snowy season, this driveway is STEEP! Our van had a hard time every day and there were some white knuckle moments, but that is the only even remote downside to this place. The Pumpkin Festival in downtown Franklin was perfect and the gem mining right at the base of the property (Gold City, I think) was also a lot of fun, but the best part were the waterfalls and shopping in Highlands. The owner, Trudy, is a breeze to work with. Thanks for a wonderful family vacation."

  • Great Family Reunion

"We had a wonderful family reunion including multiple generations and ages from the 80's to 6 months. The house was comfortable, large enough to give everyone private space when needed and great gathering space to all be together. We cooked all our meals there and the kitchen was fully stocked with all the essential cookware, utensils, etc. for that. We went up to Almond to rent pontoon boats and Carl's suggestion for the route to get there proved to be a beautiful drive. Our day on the lake tubing and swimming was fabulous. There are multiple hikes close by and even the three year old managed to get to the waterfall. There is a fire pit for roasting marshmallows and making s'mores. Lots of good memories were made! The only problem with our stay there was that it was too short."
