  • Nothing short of magical...

"I honestly hesitate to write a review, because I want this to be my own little secret:) I actually grew up spending all my summers on my grandparents farm further up Brushcreek & we lived with them in my middle school years when Papaw became ill. I have a long family history in Fairview so full disclosure, I am partial..for very good reason. You just don't get childhoods like that anymore..picking buckets of blackberries that Meemaw turned into cobblers & jams, roaming hillsides only comparable to The Sound of Music and fetching dinner from the lake. I've always dreamed of the day I'd get to bring my kids back to see the slice of heaven called my childhood..but didn't know how, being that my grandparents have passed away and their beautiful property long sold. When I went on VRBO, it was nothing short of a hair raising God thing that I came across this sweet stone cottage (my grandparents farm house that he built with his own hands was stone as well) ON Brushcreek..I thought it was too good to be true! Even my mom who was born and raised there, didn't know about this precious stone cottage up the sweetest dirt road at the end of the circle. I was a little disappointed that we didn't make it there before dark being that my husband isn't quite acquainted with country living:)..but as we entered the gate into this precious property, the night scene had a heavenly glow all it's own. My city boy husband instantly understood all my sentiment. The fireflies lit up the night & the goats and horses welcomed us with their sweet songs..and there was something magical about mysteriously hearing the creek babble before getting to see it in the morning. The next morning I couldn't hold the kids back from bursting outside in their pajamas, so I followed suit in mine with coffee in hand:) We were soon greeted by these special owners..Barbara was up in the barn tending to a new horse & so graciously allowed us to watch and pet. In our time there, I was able to easily explore all the surrounding land that me & my siblings, my mom, grandparents and great grandparents roamed as children..with my own kids, husband & mom..but looked forward to returning to this precious real working farm each day! I am forever grateful for our divine meeting with this special couple & that they so generously share their hearts and home with others..allowing me my up most precious memories with my kids to date. Thank you Barbara and Tom, from the bottom of my heart, thank you."

  • Amazing Views and Location

"My wife, three year old daughter and I spent a couple of weekends at Rugby's this spring. We couldn't appreciate his hospitality or home any more. We had everything there in the house we could ask for (gas grill, fully stocked kitchen, fireplace, new LCD TV's for night, and last but not least amazing views). The location is perfect for anyone who wants to be minutes from downtown Cashiers, but also close to some of the best hiking in the area in Panthertown. We can't wait to go back!"

  • Wonderful view!

"The house was great and had a beautiful view. We had 8 adults and there was plenty of space for us. The only issue we had was the hot tub was not that hot and didn't seem to warm up. But this could have been user error! The house is just as described."

  • Wow! We would recommend this property!

"My wife and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at this River property. We stayed Oct 10th - 16th, 2016. The location is beautiful! This is the last house on the road and there are a couple neighbors on one side, but no interruptions. We barely saw any one else all week. The leaves had just started to change and the colors were beautiful! The screened in balcony is bug free enjoyment of the river and its sounds. There is much peace listening to the river run. The river is right there and as gorgeous as the pictures show it! A couple of the friendly local dogs will greet you a morning or two, but are no trouble. Extremely loving. About the property: Brantz and his wife have everything you need for an enjoyable stay. Anything you would have in your house is there. You only need to bring your clothes and food. We felt comfortable and at home. The nice features about this property are: 1) Very well kept up property and a bargain compared to many other rentals in this area. 2) Location is very peaceful and the river is right here. 3) All the nice amenities, cable TV and Wi-Fi. I had to work for a little while one day and the Wi-Fi is solid. 4) Stocked kitchen accessories. Most kitchen appliances you would have at your home (all matching, not a bunch of garage sale stuff like we experienced at other rentals), paper towels, dish washing liquid, coffee filters, etc. 5) Bathroom upstairs and downstairs. Two full baths. Real soft and big bath towels. Toilet paper included. 6) Iron and ironing board, 7) Nice laundry area downstairs. 8) Fireplace with stocked firewood, ready to use. 9) Huge walk in closet in the Master. 10) Separate entrance for ground level bedrooms. Hints to make this place enjoyable: 1) If you can’t climb up one set of stairs this really isn’t the place for you because the main living area is on the 2nd floor and it wouldn’t be fun to be stuck downstairs in the two bedrooms. But honestly, once you’re there you don’t want to leave! 2) The road leading in from the highway is long, about 2 miles and mostly dirt. It is well graded so no problems there, but a little winding. I would recommend getting there during daylight, only so the road is not intimidating. We showed up at 9:30 at night. Once you’ve driven it twice in the day it is not a big deal. 3) Murphy is close and there are many things to do in this area. We just liked hanging out at the house. The people in this region are so friendly and nice!"
