"This is a great property for a smaller family. The views are phenomenal and it is an easy distance to Black Butte lodge. It was my third time in this property and I was happy to see that it was much cleaner than before, apparently with new rugs. But it still needs attention: burners on the stove didn't work, light bulbs were missing and when we got there the dryer wasn't working. (Howells, the property manager knew it and sent someone to fix it after I called.) The air conditioning was very nice. I have rented from Howells many times over the years and they are consistently nice and helpful, but they need to update their processes. Why isn't there an online payment option? It would be so much more efficient and would avoid the kind of problem I had. I filled out my reservation paperwork, including the card with my credit card info, and sent it in. A while later they called and asked why I hadn't sent payment information. I told them I filled out the payment card but they couldn't find it and said the card had not been charged. I gave them my credit card info so they could charge my rental and they promised I would not be charged again if the card showed up. Well, guess what...they did charge me again, which I discovered when they sent me a refund for overpayment. Later, they failed to send me info about how to get into the house. Seems like automation would solve these problems. But, all in all. Black Butte is a magic place, this is a nice little rental and the Howells people are nice. ( warning: there are lots of steps.)"

  • Wonderful winter cabin

"We loved our stay in Black Butte over Martin Luther King weekend. There was probably 3 feet or more of snow. My son and nephew played outside in the snow for hours, then would come inside to play games and puzzle that are provided at the cabin. They had so much fun in the snow, they never even wanted to swim at the recreation area. There was plenty of space in the house for the kids, my husband and I and our 6 week old baby. The only issue we had during our trip, is the downstairs furniture is old and worn. You sink into the couch and it isn't that comfortable. However, the upstairs furniture is wonderful! We spent most our time up there. We would definitely come back."

  • Beautiful home!

"This was definitely the nicest home we have stayed in since coming to Black Butte. The house is incredibly spacious and very clean. We also enjoyed how quiet it was. Will definitely book this house again!"

  • Fantastic house for big group in the perfect location!

"We had a group of 7 adults and 4 kids for a family reunion, and we could not have asked for a better house at Black Butte. The house is beautiful and in great shape. We really appreciated the large dining table that seated all of us, and the nice open kitchen that was well equipped and had plenty of storage space for the abundance of food we brought! There was all kinds of great rec equipment...3 bikes and plenty of helmets, pool toys, tennis rackets, and swimming towels (and lots of games and DVDs, which we didn't use because we were outside most of the time!). The location was ideal, especially with kids. It's a 5-10 minute walk (or even shorter bike ride) to the Glaze Meadow rec complex, where we played in the pool, got massages, played at the playground, played tennis and bocce ball, and rented bikes and trailers. The house is adjacent to the bike path, and there's a beautiful lake and meadow a few minutes' walk from the house. We even saw 2 bald eagles not too far from the house! The bedroom configuration worked really well for us-- the master was nice and spacious, and even had a big closet area where we put the pack n play for our youngest. The older kids loved the bunk beds. There are also lots of decks, which provide lots of options for hanging out outside."
