"We were initially impressed with how clean and inviting the spacious living rooms and bedrooms appeared. There were plenty of comfy chairs and couches for lounging, and a fireplace to gather around.
We came prepared to do most of our own cooking and found the kitchen to be well appointed with colorful dishes and practical cookware. There was a crockpot that produced one of our best dinners and electric beaters to whip up a fancy dessert.
The location is great, within easy walking distance to restaurants and shops in the old downtown district. Customer service was very good; the owner thoughtfully provided half price tickets for the Anthony Lakes ski area (which we enjoyed greatly). I highly recommend "Gracie" and hope to return on a future vacation."

"A friend and I stayed in the loft for three nights. It was well stocked and comfortably furnished (comfortable beds! Always a plus) and provided a great base for exploring the area for bird watching, hiking and driving back roads. The loft is within walking distance of restaurants (try the LG Brewskis Pub) the Union Museum (a great museum!), and the Union Hotel. Dave and Mindy were wonderful hosts and provided lots of information on things to see and do. I am a bird watcher, so they suggested we might try the Union Cemetery for owls, and one evening we found 3 juvenile and 1 adult Great Horned Owls lounging around the tombstones. The Ladd Marsh Refuge was great for bird watching, and nine miles away the somewhat funky Cove Mineral Pool was a fun visit. Thanks to Dave and Mindy for helping make the visit so enjoyable - I'll be back!"

"House easily accommodated all 9 adults. Very homey, with fully equipped kitchen separate areas both inside and out for large or small groups to gather. Comfortable beds and spaces for folks to read or relax either alone or together. Weather was warm and sunny but never hot. We even had some light rain and the cabin was cozy and warm. Love the homey decor with plenty of seating to visit. The well stocked pantry with cooking and eating utensils was great and gave us an opportunity to make family favorites. We ate all meals at the cabin. Stairs were a little daunting as we are not spring chickens. Bathroom toilets needed to be treated with tenderness. I can think of a more beautiful location than Wallowa Lake. We truly enjoyed out time together and our stay at the Bear Den."

"We enjoyed our stay at the apartment (#1) behind the Pony Express/post office. Neat, small town located centrally for visiting the John Day Fossil Beds monument units. Nice spot to come back to in the afternoon after a hot day hiking and exploring the area's amazing geology. The unit was well appointed and had everything our family of four needed for our visit. Folks we met were super friendly and we enjoyed dinner and pie at the cafe. Thanks!"
