  • Absolutely perfect!

"We are just home from spending a wonderful week at this location. I cannot say enough about how fantastic this whole experience was. Booking and communicating with Jim was quick and easy. Clare was also a wonderful on-site resource offering guidance and suggestions. We ABSOLUTELY LOVED utilizing the bikes that were available - such a perfect way to get around and see (the seriously bike friendly) city. The shared garden courtyard in the back was also a big highlight for us. We had a couple of scorcher days, so the A/C unit in the bedroom was highly welcomed. As other have said, the central location of the home makes it incredibly easy to get around with so much within walking/bike riding distance. A few of our favorites were....lattes at Grande Central Bakery (3mins walk), food trucks at 2880 SE Division St AND 1207 SE Hawthorne Blvd, Bollywood Theater (indian food) at 3010 SE Division St, Salt & Straw (salted caramel ice cream....sooooo delicious!!) at 3345 SE Division St and Accanto (italian) at 2838 SE Belmont St. Highly recommended and would most definitely be our first choice of accommodation next time we are in Portland."

  • Beautiful, idyllic country setting, great for visiting wine country and nearby Portland

"This was our first trip to the Northwest, and we couldn't have picked a better location from which to stage our day trips. The guest house is well appointed, located on a beautiful, serene setting along the Willamette River. The Farrell's are gracious hosts, offering us use of their kayak, as well as access to their chicken coup for fresh eggs! Their friendly Golden Retriever was always there to greet us when we returned from our sightseeing excursions. The heart of wine country is just up the road, and downtown Portland is only 30 minutes away. Within 2-hour's drive are Mt. St. Helens, the Oregon coast, Mt. Hood, and the Columbia Gorge. There are excellent restaurants nearby, and Portland is renown for these as well. We highly recommend this property to any couple looking to explore this beautiful part of the country."

  • Quiet Place to Settle on a Monday and Tuesday

"I stayed from Sunday to Wednesday and I think that is key -- the restaurant is quiet on Sunday evening and was closed Monday and Tuesday, so I had the place to myself. If it had been Friday or Saturday I don't think I would have liked it -- you really are right on the patio of the restaurant. It is a nice little cottage -- my brother (who wasn't staying there) and I treated it as a home away from home as the kitchen and living area gave us everything we needed to cook some meals and hang out. It is best for one person or two people who don't need privacy from one another. There are no internal doors, and it is an open plan. As one person, I loved it. One thing -- the address on the gate is very hard to see and the back path is dark. Get your phone flashlight out!"

  • Wonderful stay

"So we were a mother/teenage daughter traveling together. Everything was seamless with our stay! Communication with us prior to our stay was perfect. Location is wonderful for site seeing. The on street parking was plentiful. Words cannot describe how wonderful the Garden Apartment was. Everything we needed was there. We only met the home owner briefly, shortly after checking in. She was very pleasant and helpful with our questions. I truly felt I could have knocked on the door to ask them anything. Safety was a big importance to us and this place is SAFE! Loved our stay!"
