  • Amazing view!

"A very rustic, secluded home perfect for getting away from the hustle and bustle of life. We were greeted with a nice welcome gift when we arrived and were thrilled to find shampoo and soap in the bathroom and a well stocked kitchen. Would definitely recommend that you hit the grocery store on the way in if you plan on cooking your meals. The view from the main area is just beautiful during the day and the fireplace makes for a cozy night playing games in front of the fire. It is a very welcoming home!"

  • Great time was had by all!

"We really enjoyed the property and the home. We have stayed in many places and this was tops! We have stayed in many places and this was tops! The mornings were perfect sitting on the deck overlooking the property and the Dan River. The kids loved the tubing it was family friendly and there was enough tubes for all 10 of us! The gator was fun to explore with. The kids loved the downstairs game room. We loved that the house was lived in and it was comfortable having the young ones around. We didn't have to worry about them messing with things. If you have real little ones baby gates would be needed as there is lots of stairs. The owner might have them in the house somewhere. There was lost of sheets and towels. If you like photography there was lots of areas to explore and take pictures. The days were a bit hot on the deck but it was cooler and nice down by the water under the trees. At night the deck would cool off a bit. The house A/C worked well and was enjoyed by all as it was hot, a heat wave came through when we were there. We walked a lot of the shaded trails along the river. It was very peaceful. The internet was very limited and cell phones barely worked and some not at all, but we really needed to disconnect so it was perfect. The cable worked well. There were no fish when we went, but that was to be expected as it was the end of the season. We loved exploring "Mayberry" nearby. We did the squad car tour too! The food in Mayberry Mt. Airy was awesome. The nearby hiking was amazing. I hate to bring up negative issues, but the house was a bit buggy. There were spiders and bugs but that is expected in the mountain. The quest bedroom bed was broken, but no one probably brought it to the owners attention. My Father-In-Law is handy so he just fixed it as we didn't feel the need to bother the owner. The owner was very friendly and we met him on the day of check in. I am sure he would have had the bed fixed, we just didn't feel the need and handled it ourselves. The top oven needs a good cleaning. We used it and smoked the house out! LOL. I think the cleaning company forgot to clean it. There was 10 of use ages 4-seniors and we all had a great time and felt we had plenty of room to spread out! I would highly recommend this place for a large group. Thanks for a great time!!!! We stayed a full week. We would have loved to stay longer but work calls."

  • What a view!!!!

"Want to thank Roxanne and James for opening up their home for us to stay in. There were 4 of us that stayed here. Had 1 HD2500 truck and an enclosed 16 ft trailer with 2 motorcycles. If your planning to trailer, there is plenty of room to back the trailer into an empty lot at the end of the single lane road past the house. Garage had plenty of room to store them at night. All the reviews are correct, this place is awesome. Thanks again. I (WE) will be back!!!"

  • Amazing!

"My husband and I often stay in the Meadows of Dan area when we visit Chateau Morrisette Winery and found this little cabin because the place we usually stay was closed for the season -- and I'm very glad we did! This cabin was the perfect escape! Julie has thought of everything to make your stay delightful and stress free and was only a text/phone call away when we had a question. Unfortunately, there was a ban on outdoor fires while we were there so we were unable to enjoy the fire pit and s'more fixin's she so thoughtfully provides but we enjoyed our time at the house playing cards and drinking wine with our son and his girlfriend. The furniture and beds are extremely comfortable (one note: the bed downstairs makes a rubbing/squeaking noise every time you turn over; didn't bother me the first night but the 2nd night I noticed it). We hope the next time we come, we will have an opportunity to explore the property, do some hiking, and, of course, have a s'more or two, although I may have to bring some Reese's peanut butter cups because a s'more with a p.b.cup is the BEST -- much like this cabin! Thanks, Julie, for sharing your cabin and allowing others to experience its beauty."
