  • Cozy Condo

"My husband and I went for a long weekend and had a great time. The condo was nice and cozy, perfect for two people. Within walking distance to Mountain Inn and restaurants. Owner was very quick to respond to questions and very accommodating. We enjoyed the views and touring Bold Rock Cidery as well as Blue Toad Cidery."

  • Relaxing, fun weekend!

"We arrived Friday around 6pm, walked in and it was so hot! There isn't any central AC. One of my friends called Rod and after a few minutes playing phone tag we got a hold of each other and he walked us through step by step how to hook up the stand alone AC. Just had a very hard time dragging it up to the house. It cooled down the house within 30 minutes! It was great. But it leaked a lot of water and the maintenance guy never showed while we were on our wine tour. We should have called Rod but we were all tipsy and figured we'd just clean it up ourselves. We had 8 of us total and we loved the house. Made dinner for everyone and there was enough room for us to spread out. The hot tub was easy to figure out. Minus the AC set back it was a great time! But there's something to be said about how helpful he was and you could tell he felt bad."

  • LOVELY COTTAGE HOME - DOG & FAMILY APPROVED!

"We stayed at Afton Cottage from August 10-August 17th. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would have stayed longer, but needed to get back to Florida. Dick is a wonderful host and the home is charmingly appointed with little extras like new magazines, cook books, notepad on the fridge with a photo of Afton Cottage, etc. On arrival our Scottish Terrier gobbled up the gift of two dog biscuits tied in a ribbon and proceeded to make himself completely at home. It was a joy to see him roaming in the garden and sitting out on the deck in the early morning. From inside the cottage we viewed humming birds, and two deer. The kitchen is well equipped and the home is very clean and comfy. The drive to the cottage is scenic (we stopped and took photos) and the roads are narrow but good. There is a short gravel driveway from the road to the cottage. Although in the country, you are near wineries, breweries and cideries and within easy driving distance to Charlottesville and Staunton. We visited Afton Mountain Winery, Blue Toad, Blue Mountain Brewery - all have outside seating areas with beautiful views and are dog friendly (seating outside). Afton Cottage is a quiet home from home and we had a family vacation we will fondly remember. We would not hesitate to return to Afton Cottage and this beautiful area of Virginia."

  • Beautiful, historic, serene

"This historic home is at the end of a dirt road at the far side of Jetersville, VA -- very quiet and bucolic. We stayed here for parents weekend at Hampden-Sydney College which is about 30+/- minutes away. The house has everything you'd need, especially the kitchen where I did a little baking. The only problem for us is that there are horses on the property and my husband is very allergic! I thought they'd be a little further away from the house but they are basically in the "front yard". Other than the horse allergy, we had a lovely weekend."
