  • Perfect lake house getaway

"I stayed here for a weekend celebrating my birthday with some friends. The lake house was perfect for our needs. It is right on the lake, has a big backyard and outdoor deck. It comes with outside grill, pots&pans, and basic cooking needs so you don't have to leave the house at all. But if you wanted to, this place is a short drive away from Mariners landing and Kings Point Pub. The house is located at a quiet location and pretty secluded which was great. A very big plus is the long driveway. We had about 8 people stayed for the weekend and most of us drove separately but there was no trouble in parking at all. Getting in and out of the place was easy. The only thing that's a little inconvenient was that the dumpster is off-site and a little bit of a drive (10-15 min drive) but the owner gave us a clear direction that you can't miss it. Overall, my stay was enjoyable, making the reservation/getting in contact with the owner was very easy, and the property was outstanding so I would go back again and recommend this place to everyone!"

  • Wonderful Getaway!

"This was our 3rd stay at Alice's cottage on the lake. The last time we were there our son was 3 and now 7. We all thoroughly enjoyed relaxing, floating and swimming in the lake. Having the dock there is essential - you can sit outside and catch some sun or go under the covered part for a break. Our weather in July was perfect. We also took the canoe out several times. The views in the morning from the deck are just beautiful - you can see the sun coming through the trees. Very relaxing. We also enjoyed going to the Marina one evening and enjoyed the food and local musicians. Alice remains very easy to work with -- thank you again, Alice!"

  • Wonderful home and location

"Our family enjoyed a wonderful weeklong Christmas reunion at Covered Porches. The home is lovely and the lakefront location is gorgeous. Access is easy and the driveway is gentle, unlike some lakefront homes. Inside, we found every amenity we hoped for. The decks offered stunning views of Smith Mountain Lake sunsets, and the two canoes and kayak gave us a way to get out on the water. Roslyn was wonderful to work with. Christmas reunions on lakes in the Southeast have become our family's standard practice, but until now, we've never stayed anywhere we were so eager to return to. We hope to be back at Covered Porches again someday."

  • Great fall vacation getaway!

"If you love quiet, nature and beauty this is your place! We visited the first of November and just enjoyed looking at the lake, sitting on the deck and the dock and hiking the State Park. This is a golf and lake community but because of the season it was very quiet and serene. The house is 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom and a full basement for ping pong. The kitchen is fully stocked and dining room table perfect for cards and games. Be prepared to clean up your mess and dispose of trash. No big deal for us. Just leave it as clean as you found it! Oh and our dogs enjoyed their walks and playing in the water! Great place. We highly recommend! The Reades Gallatin, Tn"
