  • 2 nights wasn't enough!!

"Our stay at Maggie's Cottage was GREAT! There is so much to do on the property and within a short distance, we wished we could have stayed a few more days to explore. The cottage itself was perfect - clean, updated, bright, comfortable, and relaxing. The surrounding acres were beautiful and perfect for outdoor activities. We enjoyed paddling around the pond in the boat and everyone caught at least one fish! The location is perfect for a short drive to the Old Rag parking lot. We also really loved exploring the town of Sperryville. So many unique shops, restaurants, and even a cool brewery and distillery. This place really is a gem and we are thankful to have had the opportunity to stay!"

  • Beautiful home in the perfect location!

"Gorgeous home in perfect proximity to hiking the Little Devil's Stairs, far enough from civilization to be remote without feeling cut off. The hosts were very accommodating (and pet friendly), leaving us a lovely bottle of wine in the fridge and allowing a late check in. The owners were unable to meet us for check in, but their daughter made sure we were settled."

  • Bear meadows

"Absolutely fantastic family getaway for active or even inactive people! Everything was there that we would need for having fun together! Our kids are 15 and 2 and there was something for everyone to enjoy their time there. Surrounded by the beauty and peace of nature, it was a perfect retreat from hustle and bustle of daily life. We loved the canoes, tubes and that there was a wagon to attach to the bikes to haul our gear to and from the river. The gameroom was a huge bonus especially for cool nights or rainy days. The hot tub on the deck with a mountain view was perfect. A+++ for sure & our new favorite vacation destination!!"

  • Perfect cottage for family hiking trip - Old Rag Mountain

"Our family rented the Tucker'd Out cottage for two nights and found it to be cozy and comfortable with all the amenities we could ask for! The property itself is fabulous - with breathtaking views of Old Rag Mountain and lots of land to explore. We particularly liked the location - very close to the parking lot for Old Rag and not far from White Oak Canyon. The kitchen - which does not have a full oven - was perfect for our needs. We prepared all our meals each day and were surprised to find everything we needed and a few extras we didn't expect - like napkins, salt and pepper, olive oil, zip lock bags and aluminum foil. We certainly appreciated the well-stocked kitchen! We used the charcoal grill one night, which was wonderful. And we enjoyed sitting on the front porch in the rocking chairs. The upstairs living area and bedroom were perfect for the kids! The couches up there are comfy and there is plenty of room for them to sleep. You could comfortably sleep six or more in the house - but with only one bathroom and one dining area, I would not advise more than six. We were surprised when we read the guest book and learned the property has been rented out for several years - You would think it's brand new with the way it is maintained. Everything was in great condition - nothing in need of repair or even looking worn. The linens were fresh and clean, the furniture was in great shape and the whole cottage looked well taken care of. The owners were great to work with - giving me directions and answering questions in advance. Thanks to Peggy's direction, we stopped at Food Lion on Rt 29 on the way to the cottage from Charlottesville for groceries. We have two teenagers and a tween - so a few days without internet or satellite was just what we needed to connect as a family without distractions. We played games and poker (we brought our own but they actually had poker chips and cards) and watched a DVD (there are tons of them at the house!). We wanted to use the corn hole boards and ladder toss but we didn't have time. We would have liked having internet to check the weather and use Google Maps but we managed just fine without that luxury. Thank you for a wonderful spring break. We would love to come back again!"
