  • Perfect cottage for family hiking trip - Old Rag Mountain

"Our family rented the Tucker'd Out cottage for two nights and found it to be cozy and comfortable with all the amenities we could ask for! The property itself is fabulous - with breathtaking views of Old Rag Mountain and lots of land to explore. We particularly liked the location - very close to the parking lot for Old Rag and not far from White Oak Canyon. The kitchen - which does not have a full oven - was perfect for our needs. We prepared all our meals each day and were surprised to find everything we needed and a few extras we didn't expect - like napkins, salt and pepper, olive oil, zip lock bags and aluminum foil. We certainly appreciated the well-stocked kitchen! We used the charcoal grill one night, which was wonderful. And we enjoyed sitting on the front porch in the rocking chairs. The upstairs living area and bedroom were perfect for the kids! The couches up there are comfy and there is plenty of room for them to sleep. You could comfortably sleep six or more in the house - but with only one bathroom and one dining area, I would not advise more than six. We were surprised when we read the guest book and learned the property has been rented out for several years - You would think it's brand new with the way it is maintained. Everything was in great condition - nothing in need of repair or even looking worn. The linens were fresh and clean, the furniture was in great shape and the whole cottage looked well taken care of. The owners were great to work with - giving me directions and answering questions in advance. Thanks to Peggy's direction, we stopped at Food Lion on Rt 29 on the way to the cottage from Charlottesville for groceries. We have two teenagers and a tween - so a few days without internet or satellite was just what we needed to connect as a family without distractions. We played games and poker (we brought our own but they actually had poker chips and cards) and watched a DVD (there are tons of them at the house!). We wanted to use the corn hole boards and ladder toss but we didn't have time. We would have liked having internet to check the weather and use Google Maps but we managed just fine without that luxury. Thank you for a wonderful spring break. We would love to come back again!"

  • Relaxing Fun

"We arrived to a warm, inviting home and a lovely gift basket for making s'mores on the campfire. A beautiful handwritten note from the owners just made our stay that much more special. There were so many things to do ... swimming, badminton, campfire, games, movies, croquet ... there's no reason to get bored here! And having a vineyard within walking distance was the icing on the cake."

  • Nice updated cabin with great amenities within walking distance of tubing!

"My friends and I had a great weekend at the Mountain Whisper cabin. The cabin has a great layout, very nice kitchen, clean hot tub, and nice screened in porch to keep the bugs away. Overall, it had all the amenities we wanted and we could walk to the river outfitters for our tubing trip, which was perfect. We all agreed we would gladly stay there again!"

  • Very nice, clean farmhouse. Well stocked.

"Gary's farmhouse is a class act. It is very clean, nicely appointed and he has gone the extra mile to make you settle right in. Nice towels, comfy beds, even some coffee! The hot tub is a GREAT touch -- my 10 year old daughter and I loved it. The house is well located (though definitely "in the country") with about 15 minutes to Luray Caverns (must see) and an hour to Culpeper over the mountains, which is a must-see little town with shops and restaurants galore (much nicer than Lurary IMO). Great spot and a great value."
