  • The property was very well maintained and the house was super comfortable!

"A perfect place to stay if you want to get away from it all for a little while! The beds were comfy and the kitchen was not only pretty, it was user friendly! Stop at the FoodLion in Summersville first because it takes about 30 minutes to make your way up and around the winding roads to the house once you head out of town. There is a charcoal grill and a gas grill for guests to use. Hominy Falls is very pretty and an easy walk from the property. Our two-year-old enjoyed the selection of children's DVDs and playing in the creek and I enjoyed watching the lightning bugs on the quiet front porch. I would recommend Joyce's house for a couples' getaway, family vacation, or as a home base for whitewater activities. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely stay there again!"

  • Thanksgiving in Hicco

"Arrived at the cabin with Paul's very detailed directions w/no problems. Nice and private. Short driveway had no issues. Greeted by 2 neighboring dogs, a friendly German Shepherd and a small white terrier mix (fearful); they appeared to be put up after our arrival. Charming and cozy. Hot tub in it's own room located off back porch. Nice porch/swing out front. Fireplace gave me some problems when I tried to get it going on Thanksgiving, but Paul gave instructions via phone and even offered to come over on turkey day to resolve the issue. Luckily I was able to get it going w/his instructions. Bedrooms have no closets to hang clothes; suggest portable clothes rack. Dressers have linen inside; suggest luggage rack. Shelves or racks in bathroom would be nice to put guests personal belongings on (ample room). A very short drive to town, approx. 10 minutes w/ample unique dining experiences and chain rest. Highly recommend the Sandwich Society and the neighboring old town village type stores. New River Gorge Bridge is approx. 6 miles away and the scenic drive is a must do. Other state parks are close by and offer great hikes and scenery for this time of year. Overall a good experience and a GREAT area to explore. Hicco we will return. Paul, Thank you for your hospitality."

  • Warm and cozy cabin

"We had a fantastic time at the cabin with a group of rock climbers during a chilly week in november. Lots of cooking, games, knitting, hot tub, and of course climbing. The cabin was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The master bed was very comfortable, and I heard the pullout was a little less supportive, but worked fine. Thank you Tom and Janet for the hospitality!"

  • Wonderful!

"We arrived later than we had hoped. GPS was NOT very helpful but Theresa rescued us! Johnny had already warmed the place up! When we arrived, all we had to do was bring in the suitcase. The place was amazingly clean and well furnished. They have gone to great pains to make sure that we had everything we could possibly need. They supplied little things that you don't even think about, such as dish soap! The location is great. The kids really enjoyed the fishing ponds. It's very close to all kinds of great hiking, close to the zip lines and four wheeling....JUST EVERYTHING you could possibly want to do! WE WANT TO COME BACK IN THE SPRING!! THANK YA'LL SO MUCH!!"
