  • another great week spent at Hidden Bear.....

"Well, my sister and brother-in-law and I just got home from our 6th stay in a row at Hidden Bear.....and it was just as nice a time as the first year we spent there.........Every year we leave a little trinket from our stay, this year, a bear clock, on the mantle, and a night light in the kitchen. We just love being there, and have already started to plan stay number 7 next year.. No color in the leaves yet this year, but that is such a minor little thing that does not take away from the awesome beauty and grandeur of the Door County experience........great food, antiques ( this years mission was a glass cake plate for my sister's sons wedding.........which of course we did find in one of the local shoppes.......rain a couple of nights, but did not interfere with any of our plans, did interfere with the tv reception for about 15 minutes, but that we OK too......If you are looking for a great place to stay in Door, away from the hustle and bustle of the busy tourist sites, this is the place to stay, even though you are only 5 minutes away from downtown Egg Harbor, it feels like you are in the middle of the wilderness. Stars abound at night, and the birds and wildlife that you see, make you long for the county life...........see you guys next year........"

  • The cabin was very clean and very well supplied with all of the essentials including briquets.

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cabin in fact it may have been the high light of out trip to Door County. We would eat our evening meal on the deck and stay out and watch the sunset and stayed on the deck until the stars were out. It was a great experience. We would recommend this cabin to anybody visiting Door County"

  • BEAUTIFUL VIEW! Lots of room!

"Went on a girls weekend (8 of us plus a surprise 2 that popped in). Clean home. LOTS of room for all of us. It has 1 queen bed and the other 2 bedrooms both have 2 twin beds. The sofa in the living room pulls out as well. This home is advertised as "sleeps 8" but could sleep more as there's a bonus room off of the garage. If needed, extra guests can sleep on the sofa or bring a couple air mattresses (which is what we had to do). I should really rate this a 4 1/2 stars because the minus on this home is so minor......2 downfalls, no yard to "play" in (but honestly, the beach is just down the end of the bluff so no real problem there) and also no towels or bedding (when I pack for a vacation, that's one thing I really didn't want to hassle with packing). All in all this home served it's purpose. We needed a place to crash at night after a full day of touring around Door Co. We never really had to use the kitchen since we were in & out throughout the day. The house is comfortable and has a convenient location just South of Egg Harbor."

  • Comfortable and quiet

"There were seven of us in all, four adults and three kids. We really enjoyed the home. The peaceful setting was really enjoyable. The kids had plenty of room to play and ride their bikes. The road coming into the neighborhood is quiet with just minimal traffic and we never really had to be concerned about where the kids were or what they were doing. The neighbors were a pleasure to visit with too on a walk up the road one afternoon. We found the home to be well stocked with dishes and cookware as well as many common spices. There was both a drip coffee pot and a Keurig for those who drink coffee. The deck was really a great place to start the day. Early each morning we were visited by several hummingbirds and the sounds of a peaceful sunrise. The woods around the house really made it feel private as we could barely see the houses near to us. We enjoyed a fire one night roasting marshmallows and hotdogs telling ghost stories laughing and having a great time. The water pressure seemed to fluctuate a some but never caused any problems. We were thankful for the washer and dryer which we used a lot. There were plenty of linens too. We didn't try the TV but the wifi worked well, many times all of us were on our mobile devices at the same time. The house is convenient to Egg Harbor, we were able to ride our bikes there and back easily. Fish Creek was not much farther up the road then on to Ephraim and Sister Bay. All in all, the drive was always worth it. The park on the water between the house and Egg Harbor was a great place to catch the setting sun as well as the marina at Egg Harbor. Living in a large city keeps us moving at a fast pace and coming here caused us to really slow down and relax and enjoy what God and nature had to offer. By the end of the week we were not looking forward to heading home. Restaurants were plentiful and friendly. There were great burgers to be eaten at Wilsons in Ephraim and Penninsula Park was a great place for mountain bike riding. We didn't care much for the trip to Washington Island however although the kids loved the ferry ride. If you are still trying to decide where to stay, seriously consider staying here, you'll be satisfied and have an enjoyable time, and yes do bring mosquito spray."
