  • One of our favorite places on the Island ! It was very nice !

"Loved the location ... Walking distance to restaurants, stores, and the beach !! Everything we needed was in the rental. We loved the idea of a fire outside but didn't get a chance to do that, we will try to fit that in next visit !"

"Wonderful place to spend our anniversary! The location was tranquil with a beautiful woods setting, close to town and the orchards. The accommodations were clean and comfortable, perfect for our needs. There is a flight of stairs leading to the main area of the carriage house which might be challenging for some folks. Our hosts took us on a kayak tour of the caves which was a once in a lifetime excursion. They gave us spot on dining tips and where to get the BEST sugar cured smoked whitefish. Absolutely a wonderful place to stay, we're just sorry that we didn't have time to hike the trails that traverse the property."

  • Magic. Spacious. Well thought-out property.

"We just spent the past 10 days at the Artist's Lake-View Country Home. It was wonderfully, artistically, intentional. What I mean is that every piece of furniture, art, shrubbery, trees, statues, windows, lighting was thought about and carefully placed - yet done so in a way that at first appears quirky, then looks completely natural. Applause for Richard Dillon creating such a place. There was plenty of room for us to do everything - sleep, cook, dine-in, walk or simply enjoy gazing out at a sunrise or the nearby woods on any of the 5 open or enclosed decks. The house and grounds/gardens are well kept and very inviting. The information we received about the place was clear and concise. It was very helpful. We came as 4: 2 adults, 2 kids. It can accommodate many more. If I would want anything it would be for more storage/closet/drawer space in the loft area where the kids chose to stay. The rest of the house was fine. We spent a good deal of the time hiking, biking and enjoying Lake Superior. 6 miles south is Washburn, WI, and I would recommend eating at Coco Cafe and Bakery for breakfast or lunch. DaLou's is a great choice for dinner. 6 miles north is Bayfield, WI, and I would recommend the Egg Toss Bakery Cafe for breakfast. Maggie's for lunch and dinner. Ethel's at 250, Pickled Herring Restaurant, Greunke's and Wild Rice Restaurant for dinner as well. The Candy Shoppe is great for ice cream and Big Water Coffee Roasters beats Starbucks anytime. There are concerts in the Park by the shore several times a week. I can't speak for the Wintertime. Our time there during June and July was fabulous. I imagine Spring and Fall are great as well. I would highly recommend the Artist's Lake-View Country home to anyone."
