Artist/writer's simple, painted wooden cottage sits right behind the dune on Hope Town's quiet and beautiful sandy ocean beach. Totally private, it is surrounded by silver buttonwood, Hawaiian sea grape and palms.
There is a deck for outdoor eating with table, four comfortable chairs and a large umbrella. Two Adirondack chairs are perched on the dune from which to watch the sun rise over the ocean.
The cottage has an enclosed dining porch; bedroom with queen-sized bed; shower, W.C. and clothes storage area; and a den with TV, video and CD players. The newly fitted kitchen is four steps across the deck in a separate building. It has a full-size gas stove; large fridge with freezer area; microwave; toaster oven; and stainless steel double sink with Corian-type work surfaces. There is also an outdoor shower, and area for clothes drying.
There are ceiling fans in all rooms, and the bedroom has an air-conditioning unit, which is seldom needed because of ocean breezes. Everywhere is hand-painted and colorful. This is an idyllic, secluded beach retreat full of character, yet only one minute's walk from Vernon's Grocery and all the amenities of the settlement.
Unless it is high season you will generally have the beach to yourself. Fall asleep to only the sound of the ocean.

We arrived on a Friday afternoon to stay for 6 days and we couldn't be happier with our choice! For people who aren't neccessarily into the resort type of vacation this offers an incredible alternative but still provides the comforts of home. The cottage its self is rustic and cozy, but still has available wifi, television and a kitchen with a small barbeque. This place is right on the beach, and when I say right on the beach, I mean you can throw a rock into the ocean from the porch. There's a nice spot to sit and watch the sunset perched on top of the dune that leads down to the beach and we spent many nights doing just that. The location is perfect, secluded enough that you can't hear any of the noise from town, not that there is any; but close enough to walk to all of the local restaurants and bars in under 5 minutes. If you are there throughout the week, make sure you don't miss Bingo on Monday nights at Capt'n Jacks, nor the Karoke at the Hopetown lodge. We very much enjoyed our time, and Ann was a lovely host. We hope to make it back to Hopetown again very soon and will always remember the friendly smiles and waves from locals and tourists alike. We would highly recommend this vacation rental, and at the price quoted, you really can't beat it!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

We just wanted to say how much we enjoyed staying at Annie's beach cottage. She made us feel very welcome and treated us like family. Hope Town is truly a special place. I would recommend the cottage for those who want to be a block away from stores and restuarants, but still right on the ocean with privacy. You can walk everywhere from the cottage. We will be back very soon. Once again thanks to Annie for one of the best times we have had on a trip.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
